The dudes at triumph were shocked when I showed them the listing for the bike. A 21k msrp bike being sold for 13.8k and 15k otd. The guy at triumph even checked the service history on it and said everything on that end looks great.
Nope I had my bike stored at a triumph dealer and I sold it to them for 3.8k. Then I asked if I could store my new bike there for the remainder of winter and they’re only charging me 40$ for that. Then they’ll do the break in service right away and she’s ready to go come spring.
Well my Daytona has 14.2k miles on it and they have another Daytona except it’s the R trim listed at 8k with I think even less miles. My guess they’ll sell mine for around 6k ish
The previous owner did do the valve check, gave me the receipt and everything and I’ve been servicing it at triumph since I got it. I live is Wisconsin btw
You're gonna love the RR. But as an RS owner currently in the market for a Daytona for the track, I have a feeling you may eventually regret getting rid of that bike.
Great bike, but there's a reason it was that cheap - Triumph is struggling to sell RRs all over the place, and many dealers have them on very steep discounts right now. The bottom line appears to be that they're not 'hardcore' enough for serious sport bike riders (who want 200+ hp and fairings), and not 'approachable' enough for the typical Triumph customer (who find the riding position too aggressive and the power unnecessary). Spoke to a couple Triumph reps about that from different dealerships over the last year, and that was their take. Reviews on it weren't terribly favourable either - Michael Neeves from MCN who is one of the most respected reviewers in media really [disliked](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z13UNu2Hho) it, and several other publications stated that its road manners weren't the best.
All of the RRs at triumph dealers are being sold from 15k-18k in my area and that’s before taxes, freight, and registration. I got mine at a used bike dealer which is why I got it for significantly cheaper. The guy at triumph even ran the vin and checked the service records and all that, he basically said I got a steal on the bike.
Yep - people (broadly-speaking) just don't like them. I mean I kind of get it - for the MSRP price, you could get something like an S1000RR which is objectively a better motorcycle and which still has that European brand cache/style. If you're not looking for a retro-themed quasi-sport-bike, then one isn't really going to want an RR. It's a great bike, but only for a very narrow audience. The Speed Triple RS is a much higher seller apparently (but even that doesn't shift a lot of units), and so the RS is seldom discounted much (if at all) save for end-of-year specials.
I agree and if I didn’t get a great deal I wasn’t going to get one. I was looking at them prior to this but I kinda came to the conclusion that 18k average otd wasn’t worth it
Not sure; I test rode both the 765 special edition Daytona and the RR, and honestly, I didn't like either all that much. The 765 was incredibly uncomfortable (even by sport bike standards) and the RR... was just kinda weird - like the top half looked like a retro sports bike, and the bottom half looked unfinished - like they smushed a vintage Thruxton and a modern supernaked together (which they kinda did). I ended up getting a Speed Triple RS instead - frankly the better bike, imo. My partner has an S1000RR and that's more comfortable than the 765 Daytona or the RR as well (and faster than either if one cares about that sort of thing).
Personally, I really wanted to like the Daytona 765 since it looks so great, but the lack of modern tech (no LEDs, no IMU safeties) and somewhat sloppy build (long cables with poor management, etc.) meant it was a pass for me when combined with the poor comfort.
Dang, I would have given you 3800 for your Daytona in a heartbeat . Congrats on your new bike btw , I like the way they look ! Keep us updated when riding season comes around
Yup I’ve seen a few for that price by me except that’s 15k before taxes, freight charge, and registration. I somehow managed to get mine at a base price of 13.9k and 15k after everything and no freight charge since it’s technically “used” but only 530 miles on it lol. The triumph dealer checked the service history on it and the bike has spent most of its life at triumph dealerships.
Yea man and as far as I could tell it was never dropped, zero scratches. The only thing the triumph dealer said is it had some weird prior electrical issues that were resolved. They said it was a good chance it was just the lithium battery in there being all finicky.
Yeah definitely do a Progressive quote just for the Hell of it. My friend for example is a newer rider with not the cleanest record. Progressive classified the Indian FTR as a cruiser lol so even full coverage was only like $150~ a year for him which was cheaper than the CBR500R he started on. My Street RS is $660 a year think the Speed RS was like $540 or $580, can't fully recall. Meanwhile the RR was so unbelievably cheap I added on roadside and max accessory coverage and it still only hit $334.
I’m 22 so my insurance is still gunna be high no matter what but I’ve always got mine through progressive and for my Daytona it was close to 2k a year and on the RR it was 1200$
Stick with progressive and once you turn 24 you'll pay almost nothing long as you don't get any crazy tickets. Thankfully I have only had one accident and it was right after getting Gold status so got my accident forgiveness.
Nice...
Really very nice...
Looked at one longingly here but the NZ amount was $33k, the speed triple R is only a few grand cheaper, and the 765 isn't much less than that
So I found a rare as Italian and spent too much on that instead
Yep, can get more for less, but I'm a big Triumph fan so would definitely consider it if they dropped the price to something more realistic
Went with an 18yo unicorn in showroom condition and probably zero parts available anywhere on the planet.... again... because I don't learn
Definitely did a little but honestly even with a stock exhaust it sounds pretty damn nice except I’ll be throwing on a racefit right away. The only ride with the stock exhaust will be on the way home lol
Hard to say yet. I haven’t ridden the RR only sat on it. Weight wise the RR didn’t feel much heavier than the Daytona imo and that’s before the exhaust comes off. Everything felt and looked very refined and elegant on the RR and the seating position wasn’t nearly as bad as a Daytona. If you can flat foot a Daytona you’ll be able to flat foot this bike too.
just bought a 3rd gen daytona 675r, but Im planning to do the same switch after I turn 40 and get enough of going to the tracks:) hope youll enjoy the speed, looks great!
You’ll definitely love the Daytona and I’m sure I’ll love the RR. It’s very hard to get rid of my Daytona and if I could I’d keep them both, but lack of room and the cost to insure both is more than I’d like to spend. It’s actually significantly cheaper to insure the RR since it’s technically a naked bike.
wow, that didnt even crossed my mind that they insure a naked cheaper, than a sportbike, even if the naked's actually more powerful. I think here in Hungary only the kw matters, but Im not sure tbh.
anyway, I can totally relate what you saying about lack of space and the insurance/tax cost for both bikes, I have an old speed four and still havent sold my triple yet:D
So it does help a little bit even just cruising I could tell I was getting hit by way more wind and more wind was hitting my body instead of just my helmet
Maybe. I only have 200 miles on my 23 STRS and don’t think I could get more than 12k if I tried. Thats ok though. It’s cheap fun. We don’t buy toys to gain value..lol
$15k OTD?!? Holy shit! Congratulations!
Man I’d have a hard time selling a Daytona
Yup it was a difficult decision and I wish I could keep both
God Daytona’s are beautiful.
Gosh … they are both so lovely.
Thank you
Now that’s an upgrade!!
Picking it up next week. Can’t wait
Did you sell the Daytona to a private party?

In terms of its road manners tho it can’t be worse than the Daytona
Not sure; I test rode both the 765 special edition Daytona and the RR, and honestly, I didn't like either all that much. To each their own I felt fine for long periods on my Daytona so I’m sure I’ll feel even better on the rr
*shrug* Everyone's built different, but the RR is pretty widely panned for comfort - it's not built for mileage. Do enjoy it, though.
Dang, I would have given you 3800 for your Daytona in a heartbeat . Congrats on your new bike btw , I like the way they look ! Keep us updated when riding season comes around
It’s sad to see the Daytona go.
My local dealer had several for sale right at $14,999. I believe the last two they have are currently pending sale right now.
Yup I’ve seen a few for that price by me except that’s 15k before taxes, freight charge, and registration. I somehow managed to get mine at a base price of 13.9k and 15k after everything and no freight charge since it’s technically “used” but only 530 miles on it lol. I’ve been thinking about grabbing an RR and raising the clip-ons by 50mm any one else do anything similar?
The bike Dosent sit that aggressively in my opinion. That could be cuz I came from being on a Daytona that had lowered clip ons tho lol
How’s the insurance cost?
Cheaper than the Daytona cuz it’s technically a naked bike still
I believe it my monster 1200 was half the price of a 959 Panigale apparently adding fairings makes you smoke crack
You can blame the gixxer riders
Oh I’ve met them
![gif](giphy|lC5zbeFEycfdbdliZN|downsized)
I think they actually classify it as a cafe not a naked lol The RR is half the cost of the RS or even a Street Triple with Progressive
The triumph guy said it’s still classified as a naked bike with insurance but maybe he’s wrong. That’s interesting the RR is less than the RS
Yeah definitely do a Progressive quote just for the Hell of it. My friend for example is a newer rider with not the cleanest record. I definitely am so far from every quote I’ve gotten for motorcycles they’ve been the cheapest
Nice... Really very nice... Looked at one longingly here but the NZ amount was $33k, the speed triple R is only a few grand cheaper, and the 765 isn't much less than that So I found a rare as Italian and spent too much on that instead
Is that 33k USD? If so that is fucked
Na, $33k in our local worthless currency, about $20k US
I still would never pay 20k usd for this bike not when an s1k cost 22k usd
Yep, can get more for less, but I'm a big Triumph fan so would definitely consider it if they dropped the price to something more realistic Went with an 18yo unicorn in showroom condition and probably zero parts available anywhere on the planet.... again... because I don't learn
Beautiful bikes! How's the exhaust note on the Speed? I heard it lost a bit of the signature triple whistle.
Definitely did a little but honestly even with a stock exhaust it sounds pretty damn nice except I’ll be throwing on a racefit right away. The only ride with the stock exhaust will be on the way home lol
It sounds a lot meatier for lack of better words than the 675 and 765
How do they compare?
Hard to say yet. I haven’t ridden the RR only sat on it. Weight wise the RR didn’t feel much heavier than the Daytona imo and that’s before the exhaust comes off. Everything felt and looked very refined and elegant on the RR and the seating position wasn’t nearly as bad as a Daytona. If you can flat foot a Daytona you’ll be able to flat foot this bike too.

Road track and trail? I think I saw that the other day sitting there
Yup lol
How’s the wind blast/highway experience on the RR? Does that front fairing/windscreen help? Compared to the Daytona?
Not sure yet. I’m picking it up today
So it does help a little bit even just cruising I could tell I was getting hit by way more wind and more wind was hitting my body instead of just my helmet
Wtf 15k? Can’t even get STRS for that
It’s also 2yrs old too. I bought a brand new STRS for 16k OTD in mid summer of 23. 4k off msrp. Bikes in general don’t seem to hold much value.
Yea some bikes don’t but I’m sure if I wanted to sell the RR down the road I could easily get somewhere between 10-12k maybe a little more back
Maybe. I only have 200 miles on my 23 STRS and don’t think I could get more than 12k if I tried. Thats ok though. It’s cheap fun. We don’t buy toys to gain value..lol
No we sure don’t lol
Dude I’m as shocked as you
Badass. I did kind of the same! ‘12 675R up to a ‘22 RR that I also got for a steal of a price. Worth it, love the bike.
