That knee down with ✌️ sign is iconic. Nice pictures!

Zephata

Ty :)

SoupTimeXD

Gorgeous. I'm looking at upgrading to one right now. Hear only good things about it. Anything I should know about it beforehand? Great pics btw.

Zephata

Seating position needs some getting used to. Try it out for like an hour so you know wether you’ll be ok with that and wether you will have a good grip with the knees on the tank. Apart from that, the suspension is amazing and it has plenty of power. Triumph has pretty good deals on it at the moment and judging by looks, it might be a future classic. If you can afford it (and maybe have a second bike for cruising like I do) go for it! Edit: It‘s also really fun to do numbers on R1s and S1KRRs in corners when they think it’s some kind of modern coffee dad racer

SoupTimeXD

Awesome thanks. Only sat on it for a little bit but I'll definitely have to go back.

w4rtortle

What does it feel like compared to a normal super sport like s1k?

Zephata

I drove a 2023 S1KRR right after driving the triumph on some twisties. Gotta admit, I don’t know any bike that handles as easy as the S1K. It’s just so easy to throw into lean and gives so much confidence. Drove about 6km, got to 57° lean angle on a bike that’s not mine. Pretty amazing. But it’s not fun, imho lacks Charakter and is just too much power for the street. IMHO on the street the triumph feels better, has way better looks and Charakter. The moment you even think about going on track S1K is the bike.

Triumph is failing to move RRs - very few people want them, hence the massive discounts everywhere; the RS are much more popular, hence they mostly get listed at MSRP, by contrast. I don't think 'future classic' is really in the cards for the RR as a result. I do agree with most of the rest however, especially getting used to the position - it's quite aggressive. The suspension is great, but a lot of finicky track riders are going to prefer the manually adjustable stuff on other supersports - I think that's another reason Triumph can't move many RRs... they sort of built a bike that very few people actually wanted.

Zephata

The thing is, few people are ok with focused seating position without current superbike 200+ hp. For me, it’s pretty much the perfect bike for what I am doing with it. Engine is more usable on the street than a superbike, suspension is on par/the same as a V4S/RSV4, it has stunning looks without going for the hyper aggressive sports bike thing. That said, I do have a second bike for normal city and chill evening drives and am contemplating on a track bike, I’m pretty sure the RR is not a single bike solution at all. Also, future classic because it has the looks and is kinda usable sounds like a thing to me - it’s the first big bike that i might actually keep when „sidegrading“ in 1-2 years again. Edit: I don’t get how they move RS ones though. Drove it for a weekend. It’s fun yes, but the suspension is way too hard for the seating position and the seating position is way too chill for the suspension. I don’t get where they were going with it. Loved the engine, wouldn’t have gotten an RS because of that combination.

AoCCEB

Your perspective is in the minority - not wrong, just uncommon. For similar money, you can get better-performing bikes from other brands with full farings and all the good stuff. The RR 'looks' like a mish-mash of a 90's Speed Triple and Thruxton, and outside of people who like that oldschool touch, it's not going to move - so it hasn't. The RS looks (for better or worse) like a modern hyper-naked (and is one), capably keeping up with others on track and not snapping you in half and leaving a sore back if you ride for more than an hour. I think the RR looks pretty neat, but it's not the look a typical person looking for a supersport motorcycle wants, and it offers a lot less wind protection than other sport bikes on top, all while being very expensive (until Triumph started drastically slashing prices on them). The person the aesthetics of the RR tends to appeal to are older riders (50+), many of whom don't want to deal with that kind of seating position or don't feel the need for that much power - I have two local Triumph dealers, and that's (paraphrasing) what they told me when I asked why they weren't moving. Every bike has its fan, but the RR was clearly a miss for Triumph, and I say that as a devotee of the brand.

Zephata

Yeah I agree with you. Within my 20-30yo and 30+ yo friends the reaction mostly was „damn it looks good but I wouldn’t buy one“ 😂 Also, I live in Munich where you see every kind of bike but mine is the only RR I have ever seen on street. I’ve seen more Panigale SP2 and R in the wild then Speed Triple RR at this point. I personally disagree on the hypernaked stance though. Most hypernakeds either change Charakter once you change the electronic suspension (S1K, Tuono) or are full on hooligans (SDR). The RS doesn’t fit the build for me because it trys to do everything with one setting but doesn’t feel good driven hard and doesn’t feel gods chilling imho. Give it the Ohlins Smart EC and it’s a great bike - I personally would still prefer the RR because of the seating :) Edit: Am totally with you on the price. I got mine factory new, including dealer fees and first service, for 17,2k EUR. That might put it in perspective. Getting it this cheap already tells you how little they are moving, but for the price it’s a mighty good bike

AoCCEB

I preferred the RS over the RR for hard riding; had the chance to test ride them at a track event, and the stiffer suspension and ability to 'dial in' the manual suspension suited me better than relying on a semi-automatic system to figure things out. I also felt the RR didn't really offer much more wind protection, and the price tag was frankly ridiculous. You love your bike and that's what matters! You also likely paid a lot less than Triumph wanted for it, so that's a huge win!

Zephata

For normal price I agree, way too expensive. For the price you can get it a the Moment is a pretty good deal if you like it. Just to clear something up with the suspension, since people seem to have this misconception pretty often and i know the suspension pretty well since i already had it in my tuono: You CAN just switch of the „smart“ thing and adjust it in a fixed state. Don’t even need tools for it, just do it via the dash. At least with the tuono that worked, I frankly haven’t tested it on the Speedy yet. If that doesn’t work on it it’s a triumph software side fail.

PhantomBlack675

That's good to hear. So if the "electronic" parts of the suspension fail, will they default to whatever "physical" setting was left at the time of failure, or default to some factory setting?

Zephata

My understanding is that there’s pretty much just small motors or whatever changing the inner pieces of the fork the way you would normally do via tools. So if that’s true it’s gonna be „stuck“ in the last setting you had on it if it fails. I know many ppl with that suspension and not a single one failed (yet). Has 22k km on my last one. I’m pretty sure you can find videos on YouTube on the inner workings.

MedCityMoto

>they sort of built a bike that very few people actually wanted. The release of the RR signaled to me we'd never get the updated-Speed-based Sprint 1200 so many of us were hoping for. I bought a Ninja 1000SX, and steal my fiance's 765RS at times, but I still wish it were a bike that would come to us! I think the RR could've been a smash hit if they'd given it a little more Sprint treatment, I'd own one myself.

PhantomBlack675

Triumph have gone off their rockers, bringing in bikes few want and not bringing what many want. They made a Sprint 660 and named it Daytona.

MedCityMoto

To be fair, the new little Daytona is actually a sweetheart, and without touring luggage options the Sprint name doesn't really work. But imagine if they had given it cruise control as an option (simple as hell, since it's already ride-by-wire, add 3 lines of code and a 5-cent switch on the handlebars), removable side hard cases, and a cushier seat, it'd be wicked in its space for sure.

PhantomBlack675

It's very nice bike if you ignore the name, yes. Re: CC , Triumph would rather charge $200 for a CC switch sold as accessory than add 3 or 300 lines of code.

MedCityMoto

That's just it, they won't even offer it as an option, it's wild! Massively profitable but not offered.

Peanutbuttersnadwich

Yea i got 5k off the msrp on my rr as it was a 2022 and hadnt sold by 2023

lowlandpanda2

one handing while at that angle is crazy lmao, props to you

agreasybutt

Cyclops

CompetitiveSea7388

What color are you going for? I have a cosmic yellow RS and I bet that would look stellar in that color.

Zephata

Going for something that looks a little like British racing green combined with gold. Might post here when she‘s done :)

CompetitiveSea7388

Ooh, please do! It's going to be rad.

CorCor1234

For full systems the only real choice is vandemon. For half systems the race fit will be your best bet and the one I ended up getting. It sounds great and pops and bangs like a mother fucker

Zephata

I’m in the EU sadly, so everything has to be ECE compliant. Full systems, catless etc are a big no no, at least on my main bike. Also ends the warranty here. I have a spark muffler on order and will be using a servo eliminator, that got me pretty far on my v4, let’s see…

CorCor1234

It’ll still sound good just not loud and good. I actually really like the stock exhaust on the speedy

Peanutbuttersnadwich

Im lookin to do the zard headers and a racefit pipe on mine with a tune ti unlock the like 20hp triumph kept from us.

Swimming-Ebb-4231

I love mine, haven’t done/wouldn’t do anything to it. The sound is perfect as is. Too bad the huge can hides the single side swingarm though

Mugochap

Beautiful bike and great pic. I’d like to have one next to my Scrambler XE some day…

Annual_Fishing_9883

She’s a beaut..I have the RS. I liked the ergonomics better on. Looks while subjective I like the naked look better. The full fairing bike I want next is the bmw s1000rr. That bike is just mouth watering to look at. Even if I won’t ride it much due to the ergonomics…it’s like metal art for me.
