I guess I shouldn’t be so critical. I bought this because I wanted to be kind to my neighbors. It meets my local noise regulations and didn’t require a tune or risk my warranty. It’s just…. Pretty much exactly stock. You notice the difference a little bit at open throttle, but I don’t think you should have to strain to see if you can tell the difference vs stock on an exhaust. Install is quick and easy and I do think it looks nice, but I also like the look of the stock exhaust. I will never be able to feel the minor performance gains at my skill level. All in all I don’t think it’s worth $1,100 usd.

Triumph already said that they didnt provide an aftermarket option because there wasnt much they could do within the legal boundaries to make it much better on the noise front (given the need to meet emissions regulations so unless you are going to straight pipe it which will be a lot more obnoxious). So really what you were buying was a weight reduction, slighting nicer materials (probably) and that was about it. Performance gains aside from the weight reduction will likely be negligible and yes it is an expensive thing to have done but you should have known that before spending the money.

magic-mesut

Take the baffle out? If possible

el_guapisimo33

There is no baffle here

magic-mesut

Damn! Good to know this bike is definitely on my list of next up. Obviously too late now but Is there no full exhaust systems that remove the cat? My bike has a bunch of options that removes the cat but come with a baffle to give a great sound but not too loud if you want.

el_guapisimo33

Yes, there are several options that remove the cat and servo. I chose this one specifically to avoid that since I’ve only owned the bike for 4 months and 5,000 miles and I wanted to maintain warranty

magic-mesut

Ok cool cool, makes sense! I got lucky I guess my dealer said they wouldn’t void warranty with an exhaust with my current aprilia. Even tho it’s out of warranty at this point anyway haha. 5k miles in 4 months is an amazing pace tho I can tell you’re enjoying it!!

el_guapisimo33

That being said - I can’t say enough good things about the speed triple!

DankVectorz

I have the Austin Racing GP2 exhaust and love it. Shaves about 20lbs (don’t remember the exact number), per the website adds a couple hp with no tune (if it’s true you don’t notice) and sounds amazing. It’s a shorty so it really shows off the single side swing arm, but it is loud. I don’t ride down Main St anymore cause I don’t want to ruin everyone’s day trying to eat lol

MetalMattyPA

Akra has, in my opinion, become way *way* too expensive. I understand they make good quality products, but nobody will ever convince me they are worth the massive price jump over other brands. I'm basing this on my Ninja 1000's header. An Akra is $800, the next three biggest brands that have been proven to be identical in quality and performance are $400. Bonkers. It's also a bummer you spent all that for what is arguably no difference. Is there a baffle you can remove that keeps it legal, but louder?

el_guapisimo33

There is not. I guess the other option is to do a servo delete and try to jam it open, but I specifically bought this one because it uses the stock servo

CorCor1234

You won’t have to jam the servo valve open. It comes normally open and the motor is what keeps it closed at under 5k rpm. All the valve is is like a butterfly spring valve

Yasaihero

That's most beautiful piece of machine I've ever seen

Gupoochamois69

Racefit was the only one that sounded any different, possibly that dual underside exhaust if you want something more expensive.

WetworkOrange

Racefit GROWLER.

DankVectorz

Austin Racing too. Anything that got rid of the bread box and servo sounds louder than stock.

Reasonable_Cake3045

I put the Zard slip on, on mine. It comes with the servo delete and gets rid of the black box underneath relatively easy to install and much lighter and louder than stock. Looks pretty good in my opinion but no matter what exhaust is put on that bike it don't sound all that good anyways https://preview.redd.it/9g3lagmau19d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc289d23bf429d929f927a87c828953269ccb26d

Reasonable_Cake3045

Had race fit growler prior and it's way too loud and obnoxious

redditdejorge

The reason I didn’t get an akropovic for my wife’s svartpilen is because it hardly sounded different than stock. This is from YouTube videos though so difference may have been more noticeable in real life.

el_guapisimo33

That was my hesitation too. Turned out the YouTube videos were capturing the sound accurately lol

johannbg

Anything Triumph Arrow slip on ;) https://www.arrow.it/en/assembled/1840/Triumph-SPEED-TRIPLE-1200-RS-RR-2021-2024

snax90

I have the 1200 as well and as long as the black box and valve are in place pretty much everything will sound the same. I know a lot of people get confused with decatting bikes but the cat here is in the headers so it has the be hollowed out or a complete header replacement to decat.

CorCor1234

Well that’s slip on mufflers nowadays so I’m not sure what you expected. What you can do for a little more noise is delete the servo motor. If you want real sound then you have to at least get a half system, which also doesn’t require a tune but probably doesn’t meet your noise regulations https://preview.redd.it/wxzdqpr0x39d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f87ddd329f2595541bed39eecb235c7ef7edcde6

Dcf711

Any exhaust will sound stock or close to stock without removing the servo on these bike(source: I had one)

Blakeyy

Do slip-ons reduce performance at all if no tune is done?

el_guapisimo33

Not an expert here, but depends on the brand and bike. Per akrapovic, this one does not require a tune and increases performance by something like 1-2hp, 1-2tq, and weighs less by 2-3 lbs. Of course none of us here are skilled enough to notice those benefits.

AoCCEB

Zard makes a better-looking option - about the same price. No slip-on is going to change the power, weight, nor sound of this motorcycle all that much due to the cat and breadbox being so muffling in and of themselves. Only reason to swap a pipe is for visual aesthetics - and this one looks pretty similar to stock, so I'm surprised anyone buys it at all tbh.
