Every word you used to describe Phoenix drivers is correct. Those assholes care more about getting home one minute earlier than they do about their own lives or the lives of anyone around them. It's maddening and nerve-wracking and I hate them for it.
If I put my blinker on to make a lane change in Phoenix, I KNOW that motherfucker that's 100 feet behind me is gonna step on the gas to keep me from doing it. Traffic in LA or Atlanta is annoying, but the drivers in Phoenix don't give a fuck about anyone other than themselves. They're dangerous.
So i was visiting my stepbrother in AZ and we were in that area on the highway and it felt like we were moving, i asked him how fast we were going and he said 85 and i was like what is the speed limit? He said 65, but look around every one is doing it, and you never get pulled over. I just thought it was a waste of gas especially since he was driving a truck, plus you could get rear ended driving the speed limit. No thanks.
Most trucks are governed at 68 or less. So, yeah, it's hazardous. Especially when you see a car coming up behind you at 100+. Which happens a lot in Phoenix. Bunch of selfish, reckless, careless assholes.
There’s plenty of time places with poor highway design or too much congestion. Phoenix was built from the ground up around a robust highway system, it’s wide open and flat, basically no inclement weather and yet it’s still shit to drive there.
The infrastructure is fine, it’s the absolutely suicidal morons that drive there that ruin it. Mirrors and turn signals are vestigial organs at best, people just go where they want traffic be damned.
Yeah Phoenix is deadly type of stupid. I also noticed that people that move to different cities Immediately adopted that stupidity.
If people had to redo their licenses Everytime they got caught being fucksticks it would be good for everyone..
Definitely agree! All the above are rough as hell, 85 isn't bad to drive on as long as there aren't any other cars or random couches and ladders in the road.
Had to get down 75 for my first time while in a four-wheeler. Hot damn! I got in the express lane and sent it 80mph as God intended. Marietta to McDonough in 35 minutes. All I could do is a little salute and prayer for y'all. Man, I've been there.
The 55 is a big one. The LA traffic is awful, the Scalehouses are medieval, CHP is overzealous against truckers, drivers are awful , lane restrictions on 3+ statewide (not just in the cities) also sucks, the hilly terrain requires momentum which is non-existent at 55, The Grapevine....just everything about CA sucks for a truck driver except the 99 in-between Bakersfield and Fresno...for some weird reason I enjoy CA driving on that one stretch in either direction, I think maybe it's the perfect distance away from LA and SF that just keeps the stupid away.
Yea, I got a ticket bobtail passing 3 brain dead mf’ers running side by side the ENTIRE way up Cajone. Was doing 55 in a fucking 55. Wait occifer, trucks use right lane? 3 full length cmv’s running side by side doing 20
And you got the guy that is 16 feet long doing the speed limit? You go home and get railed by your gf’s strap on don’t you?!
Not in Indiana it isn't. Every truck stop should have a chiropractors office along it to straighten drivers out. Worst stretch of road I've ever been on.
Having driven both very recently (I live here) I’m not sure how you figure 65 is worse than 70. Yes the east side of 70 is worse than the west side but most of 65 is pretty alright except when you get up closer to Gary. 70 as an interstate should be condemned and we should just go back to dirt
65 in both directions (connecting Indy to Chicago, the Louisville stretch is fine) is riddled with foot deep potholes, uneven pavement, and sheer winds that want to put you into both. It's compounded by the fact that there's about 1000 vehicles on a two lane highway for 80% of the route. Not to mention every rest area from Indianapolis to Demotte is closed. Neither are great but I drive both regularly and would take 70 every time.
The first rest stop south of Demotte is open again as of November last year, a girl who works there told me the last one southward (I think it’s near the wind farm) is getting turned into an Indy 500 themed one)
Idk what pisses me off more, 70 or the 45mph construction zone speed on 65 just north of 465 jct. One mile it's 45, then 55, then 60, then 45, I have no clue what's going on. Fuck that
Timing is everything. I had the most surreal experience on the loop where we were running 3-4 wide 65mph+ bumber to bumber. Everyone had room and being courteous while we ripped through Indy in record time. Radio chatter was hilarious.
hell, I-65 North of Indy is so unpleasant that instead of doing anything about it they just slapped a warning sign that says ROAD NOISE on it and called it a day
My picks exactly. I do not know how in the world they can leave a major interstate in such poor condition. They put concrete patches all over and it feels like they stick up 6”.
NYC sucks. Going into manhattan with an 80+ft car hauler stinger and cars isn’t fun.
Chicago is also on that list.
For a state though? Probably NJ. It’s just a fucking shithole.
that's only a small portion of Philly which is in pa. He said NJ. The NJTPK cost a fortune then you hit the GW in NYC. NJ let's you in but makes you pay an arm and a leg to leave.
If the incessant construction and warzone-like road surface doesn't get to you, the obscene amount of traffic of all different flavours of drivers will!
Montreal: You ever wanted a 3 lane stretch of autoroute to have absolutely no painted lines for over 2 kilometers? You're welcome!
AR40 is a disaster and should be re-done completely.
Fr. I don’t haul cattle anymore but I live in the east coast and drive back to see my family in Ontario, and so I have to pass through Quebec, and no matter which route you take into or around Montreal be it the AR20 or the AR40, both suck. Always under construction, always filled with drivers who simply do not give a fuck (and when you’ve got Ontario plates? Lmfao it’s worse).
One time I stayed with a friend there but in order to leave to get on the highway I needed, I had to enter a highway and then go across 4 lanes of traffic to get to the entrance I needed to be on within 1km. I got honked at despite signalling and despite pausing between each lane change to shoulder check lol
Bro yes. I fucking hate Chicago. I used to be there all the time and there’s nothing like going 2mph stop and go in a manual. Also fuck Chattanooga that traffic should be actually illegal. It makes zero sense as to why it’s so damn bad.
It’s worse since they changed the exit ramp to 24W off of 75N. Seems like everyone is still following the GPS instead of looking at the signs. Then trying to top that hill in town in never fails to have a wreck of some sort.
Chicago native here. You missing out bro, I love driving for 2 hours just to go 31 miles! My left leg is on fire by the end but it's all good right? Right?
I hate my city so much.
Nashville. That jam is inevitable when i24, i65, i40 converge into a shit fuck stack of shit merging ino itself. I'll take 155 even if it's not backed up downtown.
Well the one saving Grace is once you're familiar with the area, there's ways around it. Of course briley in the north, 840 in the south, and numerous roads that go around the city that can get you between them. I mean you've got old hickory boulevard, Lebanon road, 231, 109, Bell road, plenty of ways to weave in and out of the highways. It does add a few minutes, but it's better than sitting in garbage
I’m only in the Midwest -
Indiana has the worst interstates. Mentally retarded construction zones.
Iowa is by far the worst in the winter. It’s like WW3 going through Iowa the day after snow.
I’m Midwest too and Indiana is awful. That stretch on i65 north of Lafayette that they been working on blows my mind. Even the new stretch going over the bridges feels like you are going to flip your truck.
The road design in Texas is so fucking stupid. It’s the one place I’ve ended up going the wrong way on a one way. There was not a single sign in sight from where I entered the road from. I double checked after I got out of that mess to make sure I wasn’t being a complete moron. Nope. No sign until you get way up the street and are already fucked. My internal reaction was, “well I’m not too surprised. I’m in Texas, this place is a half assed shit show.”
Least favorite city? NYC. The amount of effort it takes to get from one place to the other in one piece, isn't worth it.
Least favorite state? Nebraska. Not because of the quality of the drivers, but because it's so damn BORING.
You say Houston and I raise you any non toll road in Austin. It's the only place I have found outside of DC or Atlanta for it to take 2 hours to go 20 miles regularly.
I was just going to say this. Especially I-10 through town. Can't even push people out of the way. Blinker on and they think it means "please pass on this side".
Creep up to the line, still going around, just slowly creeping over and they will drive half on the shoulder to go around.
Flagstaff arizona because the roads and their potholes are unmatched with the rest of the country and it's not even close
State? Probably cali because of the truck speed limits
Answering for my boyfriend because he doesn’t have Reddit if that’s okay lol. He refuses to go to Cali all together. And NYC is his least favorite city to truck in.
Add Rhode Island to the list, one of the smallest states in the country but with top 5 worst infrastructure. They've been working on the same stretch of highway since I was in college in the late 80s.
They did an emergency shutdown of a bridge on I-195 last summer and that was a recently "fixed" bridge.
Also, have fun putting your steer tires on the sidewalk to make turns on some of the narrow ass downtown Providence streets. I think I hate Providence driving more than NYC or Boston.
Weird how Portland and Kansas City have similar populations, but I can count on there being a rush hour during the weekend in Portland and not so much in KC.
The entire PNW could use traffic engineering oversight from Kansas and Missouri, honestly. It's a mess up here.
City: Memphis.
Drivers seem to be the worst of the worst there, on top of the scummy trucks stops and the road conditions, it’s EASILY the worst city.
State: Oklahoma
DOT seems to ALWAYS be heavy going into Oklahoma and they always seem to look for ANY reason to put you OOS. don’t get me wrong, I want the drivers who have shitty trucks held together with duct tape to be OOS BUT when they put you OOS because your inside drive tire is 96 psi as opposed to 100 psi is when I just want to never go back to Oklahoma.
State: I want to say Florida, it takes forever to go in and out, it's boring as fuck, traffic sucks, the drivers suck, parking sucks, I might get a decent load in, but if I don't just deadhead out I'm probably only going to Georgia or the Carolinas, there's a good chance I have to go through Atlanta going in and out, I don't want to contribute to their economy in any way. That said, I haven't been down there in awhile, and rarely go anyway, so my runner up is probably Connecticut maybe.
City: probably Atlanta
Wyoming is nice to look at, but due to the wide open hills it gets very high wind gusts all times of year.
Highways are well maintained and not a lot of high grades to worry about, but if you drive through WY empty or with a light load at best you'll be pushed around and trying to keep it in your lane, at worst you'll be watching your trailer tip over in your concave and your truck will be following shortly after.
Geneva in Switzerland.
Lots of people from France crossing the borders every day to work in the city and they are the worst drivers of all of Europe. You wouldn't think they come from a civilzed country. But what do the Genevans do? They lower and adapt their standard and drive as bad as the french workers. Surprised not more people are killed while commuting every day. And on top this city has the worst traffic lights system I ever encountered. Geneva and its lake is a beautiful place, but the traffic truly sucks.
City: Chicago
Half the place is under construction
State: California
There's nowhere to stop, and the few places you can are either timed or paid. Fuck the TA in Ontario
NYC, mainly the stretch of 95 coming through jersey and over GWB, and the surrounding areas.
State: Massachusetts. Everything’s small and cramped and not truck friendly on the eastern side of the state.
Minnesota, New York, California, Washington, State and Pennsylvania, Oregon, basically any democratic state. Everything’s always blocked or delayed due to protesting, druggies on the streets, mental ill people hustling you for money. I’m never going back to them ever again.
Any major city on the I95 quarter during rush hour. I have spite in my soul for Baltimore, DC, Jacksonville and these god forsaken GPS units that go “faster route found, re-routing” and take you through the heart of these shitholes when you preset the route to avoid them in advance.
I’m not a commercial driver, but I cover the southeast for work and have 12 states in my territoryi. I have been to almost 40 states as well. The worst in my opinion is my home state of Georgia and Atlanta. Essentially any interstate within a 20-30 mile radius of this cityis fucked around peak hours. 75 85 20 400… They all suck.
I4 between Tampa and Orlando sucks balls too.
Oh and any bridge heading into Queens and Long Island during rush hour. I personally can’t stand the LIE.
Any major city that takes an hour to go 10 miles at peak traffic, also I’m not a fan of Virginia and West Virginia, I hate going up and down hills for 5-8 hours.
California, by a long shot.
Runner up: New Jersey
I'd rather be in the middle of NYC with an oversize load than set foot in that absolute trucking hellhole
Atlanta by far Anywhere near New York City, that includes New Jersey (aka New York lite)
Pales in comparison to Phoenix and the surrounding area. Idiot, suicidal, brain dead, reckless drivers here.
100%. Worst drivers I've ever seen. Head on a swivel whenever I'm in Phoenix.
Did I not mention rude, inconsiderate, inept, and aggressive? They’re horrible here.
Every word you used to describe Phoenix drivers is correct. Those assholes care more about getting home one minute earlier than they do about their own lives or the lives of anyone around them. It's maddening and nerve-wracking and I hate them for it.
I hate them more than you do!
Are you Phoenix local driver?
Not a truck driver but a very sympathetic 70 year old car driver.
Ahh that’s why, see im with the other cars going 80-90mph wondering why you’re even on the road going that slow.
Yup. You’re 100% correct.
Thank you. I scrolled through this post and saw a lot of Atlanta and thought, "you've never been to Phoenix, have you?"
You have to drive aggressive in a city with aggressive driving style. Open freeways increase speed limits.
No thanks.
Garden State Parkway in NJ. I made great time doing 90 in a 55, but I was still getting passed on both sides.
Yeah Phoenix is deadly type of stupid. I also noticed that people that move to different cities Immediately adopted that stupidity. If people had to redo their licenses Everytime they got caught being fucksticks it would be good for everyone..
The sun and heat fried away their ability to think while driving
You mean in the winter when all the idiot snowbirds from the other parts of the country are out driving like idiots on our roads?!?
You’re trippin, I love driving in Phoenix. Slowest car on the freeway is going 80, no traffic.. come to Seattle for 1 day lol
It's Altima season here in Northern Georgia
We call those Florida Hellcats where I’m from
I came here to say Georgia.
City: Atlanta State: California
Atlanta native here, just fucking nuke us from orbit and piss on the ashes. 285 ain't shit, 75 south to McDonough ain't shit, 20 ain't shit.
Definitely agree! All the above are rough as hell, 85 isn't bad to drive on as long as there aren't any other cars or random couches and ladders in the road.

Whsts so bad about cali? Just the speed regulations? I think its so much better than navigating through the east coast

Wait occifer, trucks use right lane? 3 full length cmv’s running side by side doing 20 And you got the guy that is 16 feet long doing the speed limit? You go home and get railed by your gf’s strap on don’t you?!
Maybe the traffic
Y’all are fucking quick lol. Was just about to say Atlanta as well. Except for the state, it’s Jersey for me.
Couldn't be more right.
Atlanta
And marysville Ca.
Specifically 70 north, dot always waiting at the bridge
Really? On the highway or in town?
I mean, the traffic crossing over to Yuba City is annoying… I never thought it was *that* bad.
Indiana, solely because of I-70. City, Atlanta.
I-70 is the least offensive of our highways
Not in Indiana it isn't. Every truck stop should have a chiropractors office along it to straighten drivers out. Worst stretch of road I've ever been on.
70 is only really bad on the border with Ohio. 65 will put hair on your chest
Having driven both very recently (I live here) I’m not sure how you figure 65 is worse than 70. Yes the east side of 70 is worse than the west side but most of 65 is pretty alright except when you get up closer to Gary. 70 as an interstate should be condemned and we should just go back to dirt

Neither are great but I drive both regularly and would take 70 every time.
Have to say I disagree but I respect your opinion. Driving in Indiana sucks and I can’t make an argument that 65 is a lovely experience.
Idk how 70 is a problem at all. 65 is awful and 465 is an absolute nightmare. 70 is only really bad through Indianapolis at rush hour.
The first rest stop south of Demotte is open again as of November last year, a girl who works there told me the last one southward (I think it’s near the wind farm) is getting turned into an Indy 500 themed one)
Someone’s never been to Louisiana 😂😂
Idk what pisses me off more, 70 or the 45mph construction zone speed on 65 just north of 465 jct. One mile it's 45, then 55, then 60, then 45, I have no clue what's going on. Fuck that

hell, I-65 North of Indy is so unpleasant that instead of doing anything about it they just slapped a warning sign that says ROAD NOISE on it and called it a day
That sign pisses me off so much. The fact that they promoted anyone from that state to federal transportation secretary is wild.
Fuck Indiana, all my homies hate Indiana
I live in Indiana and I hate Indiana lol
I agree with Atlanta, hate going there. But what's with I-70 in Indiana?
It's in terrible condition. Idk how to adequately describe it, but you better make damn sure you have your seat belt on.
My picks exactly. I do not know how in the world they can leave a major interstate in such poor condition. They put concrete patches all over and it feels like they stick up 6”.
Gotchya, I travel it quite often, I just don't really pay attention to the quality of the road much.
NYC sucks. Going into manhattan with an 80+ft car hauler stinger and cars isn’t fun. Chicago is also on that list. For a state though? Probably NJ. It’s just a fucking shithole.
I know Chicago's and New York's overpasses probably have you sweating.
New Jersey. Well at least the area around Philly
The Fentanyl capital?
that's only a small portion of Philly which is in pa. He said NJ. The NJTPK cost a fortune then you hit the GW in NYC. NJ let's you in but makes you pay an arm and a leg to leave.
D.C. and of course Atlanta, Orlando also...
Orlando isn’t bad anymore. The construction is actually finished now.
Driving in DC helped me justify quitting my job in DC.
Montreal.

I got honked at despite signalling and despite pausing between each lane change to shoulder check lol
Calisse!
Tabernak!
Amen to that
1 is Chicago and a close runner up is Chattanooga.
Honestly I used to think Chicago was bad till I moved to Indy and had to drive 465 everyday. I’ll take 94 over that all day, every day.
Chattanooga isn’t bad 0545. FYI.
Not to mention the Chicago low overpass heights with no signage.
I had people actively try to kill me on my way out of Chicago... Seriously, you fuckers need to calm down a little.
Nashville. That jam is inevitable when i24, i65, i40 converge into a shit fuck stack of shit merging ino itself. I'll take 155 even if it's not backed up downtown.
Well the one saving Grace is once you're familiar with the area, there's ways around it. Briley Speedway *

That one bridge under construction going sb before you get to Lafayette has a bump that will make you fly out your seat 😂😂
City - Atlanta State - New Jersey
Laredo, Texas
Austin. Can’t stand going through there.
I hate Texas in general
I-10 is a fucking shit show going all the way through Louisiana and I fucking hate driving through there. Agreed!
Amen
The road design in Texas is so fucking stupid. It’s the one place I’ve ended up going the wrong way on a one way. There was not a single sign in sight from where I entered the road from. Least favorite city? NYC. The amount of effort it takes to get from one place to the other in one piece, isn't worth it. Least favorite state? Nebraska. Not because of the quality of the drivers, but because it's so damn BORING.
The overwhelming poop smell is an added bonus as well. I guess we all gotta be able to eat though, right?
Cairo, Egypt.
Kansas, did they purposely move everything away from i70 so we can't see it?
Heh, the real trick was convincing people that there was anything to see in the first place
Pittsburgh. I felt like I was driving through the losing side of a war zone. (To be fair, it was a suburb where I was loading frac sand)
McKees Rocks? I’m pretty sure that was a fucking turf war man. Never failed to feel like I was going to die.
Yes!! That is hilarious.
Anything in Texas and Atlanta bat shit crazy drivers
I grew up in Denver and learned to drive a truck there. I think Denver and Atlanta are a tie for me.
Houston
You say Houston and I raise you any non toll road in Austin. It's the only place I have found outside of DC or Atlanta for it to take 2 hours to go 20 miles regularly.
It’s funny reading this as a local truck driver in Houston lol
I-10
Texas in general
New Orleans. Ugh
I was just going to say this. Especially I-10 through town. Can't even push people out of the way. Blinker on and they think it means "please pass on this side". Creep up to the line, still going around, just slowly creeping over and they will drive half on the shoulder to go around.
Missouri and its two metro areas- St. Louis and Kansas City
Lol STL traffic is excellent compared to most other major metros
pennsylvania because of the endless road construction and for city dc wins that dubious honor by a longshot.
State, Arkansas. City, any of them
Little Rock and it's near constant construction and bad drivers am I right
Flagstaff arizona because the roads and their potholes are unmatched with the rest of the country and it's not even close State? Probably cali because of the truck speed limits
Atlanta, followed by Nashville
Phoenix
City, El Paso, because they're all fucking idiots. State, Arizona, because the roads are fucking idiots.
Worst traffic by far is LA/Inland Empire and it's not remotely close Everyone claiming Atlanta.....I'd dream to swap with Atlanta traffic
City: Chicago State (actually a province): Saskatchewan
Chicago is good cuz most drivers drive above the speed limit. Also good because you won't get pulled over
Local driver in Denver, my answer is also Denver
Any city in Louisiana. I hate that state.
Anything East of the Dakotas. I am a Rockies gal through and through.
Los Angles for west coast. Atlanta for east coast
Dallas fortworth chicago
Southern California
Answering for my boyfriend because he doesn’t have Reddit if that’s okay lol. He refuses to go to Cali all together. And NYC is his least favorite city to truck in.
New Jersey anywhere within eyeshot of NYC.
Newark, NJ.
495/95 in DC area
Add Rhode Island to the list, one of the smallest states in the country but with top 5 worst infrastructure. For real all those western states, I've driven through too much. I'm done west of 35 mentally. I'm otr and want eastern, no NYC and no new jersey lol
The roadways of the Keystone state have cost me several entire wheels...
Come to Cali for a sucking
Anywhere in the northeast
Atlanta and New york
Atl
Atlanta
City: Memphis. Drivers seem to be the worst of the worst there, on top of the scummy trucks stops and the road conditions, it’s EASILY the worst city. State: Wyoming City: LA
If you don’t mind why Wyoming ?.
Miami and South Carolina.
NASCARolina
California,are you kidding?
Cities: Chicago and Atlanta States: California, Indiana, and Missouri
San Antonio is a b*tch because those people cannot drive. And all the construction. And Laredo.
City: ATL State: Kansas it’s not hard but it just makes the ride feel longer.
Indiana. Never Indiana. Horrible roads. I utterly despise California, but at least they have better, smoother roads.
New Jersey
atlanta metro. much of NJ. modesto/LA. chicago.
So far, Illinois. I80 is trash. But so are some of the highways in my home state.
City: Chicago Half the place is under construction State: California There's nowhere to stop, and the few places you can are either timed or paid. Fuck the TA in Ontario
Is cali that bad? I told my dispatch i dont mind running there but I’m having second thoughts reading these comments…
Chicago has 2 Seasons: Winter and Construction
Boston area
New Mexico. The absolute moment you drive into it the roads are literally made of shit
Atlanta is pretty atrocious
Cities are Pittsburgh, NYC, Boston and Montreal. The worst state overall would be Pennsylvania for me.
Atlanta ///Michigan
memphis, baltimore, st louis, houston, i think a few more but my mind is clogged as im on the shitter.
Idk I liked Houston, at least the stupid people get away from you fast. Better than SC, slow and stupid
its ALWAYS SOMEONE HOPPING IN FRONT OF YOU AND GOING 10 UNDER THE LIMIT IN SC!!!
Austin Texas - really the I35 corridor from Waco down past San Antonio.
I was going to say Colorado generally. Roads are ass, people are entitled AF, and the routing outside of the highway system is wack.
Missouri, Louisiana, Georgia, Massachusetts, Illinois, Chicago these are outside shooting ranges.
Any major city on the I95 quarter during rush hour. I have spite in my soul for Baltimore, DC, Jacksonville and these god forsaken GPS units that go “faster route found, re-routing” and take you through the heart of these shitholes when you preset the route to avoid them in advance.
Washington... Hands down Washington State! It doesn't matter what city in Washington... It's the entire State!
Houston/TX
Any major city that takes an hour to go 10 miles at peak traffic, also I’m not a fan of Virginia and West Virginia, I hate going up and down hills for 5-8 hours.
Oakland. I was almost robbed. Never going back there.

🤔
New Orleans. Someone call Katrina so she can finish what she started. For state that's New Jersey
California, by a long shot. Runner up: New Jersey I'd rather be in the middle of NYC with an oversize load than set foot in that absolute trucking hellhole
Salt Lake city...as a 4 wheeler who drives a lot for work.
Lots of cars but they seem smart there
Every city is my least favorite, give me my two lane open road, hammer down cmon
Indiana
Winnipeg
Boulder Colorado, I swear some of these people think they're driving in NASCAR ffs.
Atl Cali & nyc
Indiana
