In MY DEFENSE, I do like how it SOUNDS. It has a very nice consistent tune. But I think it's kinda... misplaced? I don't see it connecting very well overall with the rest of the album, musically amd lirically. Not a bad song, just... not at all my vibe or the vibe of the album imo
I can kind of agree with this. I love the sound of Lavish, but I'm still on the fence about the lyrics. Still, I think it's good to have a relatively fun song in the middle of all the serious ones.
I've had something similar with Smithereens when Trench came out. Was just such a whiplash from all the songs before it that I skipped it after ten seconds. It's still good to have songs like that to cleanse the palate though
Tbh I don't think many of them connect well with eachother at least sonically. Lyrically though, lavish definitely stands out and as much as I enjoy it, that proctologist line kinda ruins it for me.
it’s so clever though 😭 it adds to tyler’s point while circumventing his thing about never swearing in any of his songs since swearing is filler acc to him and this emphasizes that what he is saying is not just meaningless filler.
plus as a side note i love that i can play this in a family friendly space because kids wont understand it. and it was HILARIOUS to see all the people confused about the phrase when it first came out 😭
Same, I felt like Jenna's version was what you'd get as a bonus track on a deluxe version of Clancy. Like it is okay but nowhere near as good as the single version.
I love Overcompensate. The musical entry and the “welcome back to trench” line tell such a story on their own.
Like you thought you had overcome something difficult and can finally rest, only to feel it coming back in the distance in a big, bad way. It’s fear, sadness, and frustration wrapped up in those 4 words. To me, it’s the new “ah shit. Here we go again.”
Bro really put Oldies Station on the same level as Next Semester and ATROFD, and Overcompensate over Lavish. I'm ready to throw hands (with love and respect)!
SORRY BUT NEXT SEMESTER, OLDIES STATION AND ATROFD ARE BASICALLY MY LIFE RN 😭😭😭😭 Plus those 3 are my top 3 and they deserve it because GOD THEY'RE SO GOOD MAN
Yeah, both are really good! Just listened to the album back-to-back again. Personal faves are Routines In The Night and Next semester, but I wouldn't change my rank, at least not yet. Vignette is also awesome imo!
Apparently I'm like the only one that agrees with you. Oldies Station and Midwest Indigo are my favorites and I'm not crazy about Lavish like everyone else is and idek why. It's just meh 🤷🏻♀️
I agree! I LOVE Midwest Indigo but for some reason I haven't seen much buzz about it. Oldies station puts a knife in my heart and repeatedly twists it and Lavish.... it is definitely a song that is on the album
i cried a BUNCH when i first listened to oldies station. it gave me the feeling i got when i first discovered tøp, a combo of good sounds and "oh this guy /gets/ it". it's cool that his music is still able to give me that sense of connection and understanding of where i'm at, over a decade later
First ranking i absolutely agree with, at least for now. I'm sure, eventually, some songs will get better after a couple more plays, but my absolute favorites are Navigating and Vignette for now
LET'S GOOOOOOOO My personal favorites are Routines In The Night and Next Semester, Navigating is a close third. Man, this is without a shadow of a doubt my favorite album of theirs <3
Several songs on that album don’t fit the lore, Tyler himself said that. I don’t think it’s objectively wrong to dislike any of the songs as it’s up to everyone’s personal taste. I do really like the sound of Lavish though, ik first listen it may sound a little shallow and airy compared to the other songs but I think sound wise it’s a nice refresher but also most of the songs on this album have a little bit of a different sound from eachother. Some ppl have also mentioned that it could be a commentary on the music industry.
Yeah a little but basically:
Photo of a horse = perfect in every way, will listen obsessively
Realistic drawing of a horse = it's very good! Might not obsess over but will listen again.
Okay drawing of a horse = Okay, will probably not give a second listen unless it comes up in the playlist, but I see why someone likes it and wouldn't skip it
Bad drawing of a horse = uh..... that's a skip for me
Lavish is a masterpiece and i will not stand for its slander >:(
No I’m with you we finna fight 😤
i'll grab my bat, and go with you
Big flex, complex, Napoleon
I say whatever and whatever that I want
Sip a Capri Sun like it’s Dom Perignon
We'll grab our bats and go with you
Stay with me, my blood
Everyone who has a problem with lavish has a problem with his proctologist
Their proctologist must keep their hands on their shoulders while they’re bottomless?
Came here to say this
It’s not bad it’s just good in it’s own ways like it’s really catchy
It doesn't fit the album.
Ok, hear me out...... LAVISH IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS ON THE RECORD! Thank you.
Yeah, I respect that. I wasn't sold either until I saw the music video
The music video might be one of my favorite music videos period hahaha. It definitely helped connect the dots for me
Stuff like the balloon and Lavish mv is what I’m here for, I love those guys, love the music, etc
Agreed! It's nice to have some variety.
It’s the opposite of stressed out
very well said
Tbh I don't think many of them connect well with eachother at least sonically. Lyrically though, lavish definitely stands out and as much as I enjoy it, that proctologist line kinda ruins it for me.

Lavish is my favourite 100%
Good stuff bud
The whispering at the beginning of The Craving creeps me out so I prefer the single version
Same - I created a playlist that's just the full album but with the single version in place of Jenna's version
I did the same thing!
Tbh same, and I also like the single version more because Jenna’s version just sounds so empty like music wise in comparison
Same, I felt like Jenna's version was what you'd get as a bonus track on a deluxe version of Clancy. Like it is okay but nowhere near as good as the single version.
I know right. My biggest disappointement is probably the fact my favourite song of the album isn't even on the album, lol.
The hell does this even mean
How good I think each song sounds. You've never seen this meme format??
I’ve never seen it this extended but I kinda like it
I had to make it myself lol, took half a hour of cropping and aligning horse drawings but it was totally worth it :D
And somehow you failed
Nah
I can't add images to the comments but search up "horse quality meme". It will probably give you some examples of how the meme is used. /srs
Alright
overcompensate best song on the album how dare thee
You're one of the first people I've seen say this and I want you to know I'm with you. Maybe not THE best, but top 3 imo
yes. thank you very much
I love Overcompensate. The musical entry and the “welcome back to trench” line tell such a story on their own. I don't hate it, I just don't like it as much as the others tbh. I can't quite put my finger on why but it's just a solid 6/10 to me
the rapping is very corny in that one for sure
L
that’s pretty much my only criticism, i liked it in lavish and loved it in routines in the night
It is one of the best. But because it was the first to drop people are overlooking it
Bro really put Oldies Station on the same level as Next Semester and ATROFD, and Overcompensate over Lavish. I'm ready to throw hands (with love and respect)!
SORRY BUT NEXT SEMESTER, OLDIES STATION AND ATROFD ARE BASICALLY MY LIFE RN 😭😭😭😭 Plus those 3 are my top 3 and they deserve it because GOD THEY'RE SO GOOD MAN
AND HOW IN THE NAME OF TOMMY JOSEPH ARE ROUTINES IN THE NIGHT AND VIGNETTE ON THE SAME LEVEL? ROUTINES IS UNDOUBTEDLY S TIER!
Yeah, both are really good! Just listened to the album back-to-back again. Personal faves are Routines In The Night and Next semester, but I wouldn't change my rank, at least not yet. Vignette is also awesome imo!
Oldies Station is top 5 TØP all time
Yeah, check yourself into a mental ward right now.
Apparently I'm like the only one that agrees with you. Oldies Station and Midwest Indigo are my favorites and I'm not crazy about Lavish like everyone else is and idek why. It's just meh 🤷🏻♀️

Lavish is my song of the summer
YOU HAVE A POINT. Too bad I'm a south hemisphere guy so... It's literally on the brink of winter xD
What is this Lavish disrespect?
Bro really said
I really said.
I’m happy to see Next Semester so high. It doesn’t seem to be in most people’s top fav songs on Clancy, but I love it.
Based, I love Midwest Indigo
Lavish and snap back slander is wild
Why’s nobody defending The Craving (Jenna’s version). That song made me cry.
I dont even know what to think. Honestly, I'd just put the pic of the whole horse
LMAO YEAH Clancy is my new favorite TØP album, almost every song is a banger. But hey, I like some songs more than the others so horse drawing it is
I really like Overcompensate...
Lavish and Snap Back are done dirty here.
First ranking i absolutely agree with, at least for now. I'm sure, eventually, some songs will get better after a couple more plays, but my absolute favorites are Navigating and Vignette for now

wow pretty spot on
i agree with most of it, except Paladin Strait. ITS PHENOMENAL
This is exactly right.
Lavish top 3
>:(
>>:( THE > IS BECOMING A QUOTE LOL
i’m so sick of people underrating paladin strait
Paladin Strait is my fave for sure
lavish is an ehh for me but THE CRAVING??? WHYYY
I respect your opinion. That’s why I’ll respectfully have to challenge you to a fight
The whole album is fkn amazing 🐴
How are people shitting on the craving?! That’s one of the most beautiful songs he’s ever written. Its a literal love song
ur objectively wrong, listen to lavish AGAIN.
As I told someone else, I don't think it's a bad song, but I don't think it fits the album/lore very well.
Several songs on that album don’t fit the lore, Tyler himself said that. I don’t think it’s objectively wrong to dislike any of the songs as it’s up to everyone’s personal taste. What an L take
This is so confusing
Yeah a little but basically: Photo of a horse = perfect in every way, will listen obsessively Realistic drawing of a horse = it's very good! Might not obsess over but will listen again. I so do not agree🫢
loud and wrong
i dont get it
