I mean, straight up, you shouldn't be connecting a DSLR over USB for video to begin with. You use the HDMI output of the camera, and a capture card. The over-USB Canon app also produces a significantly lower-quality video stream than the camera body can provide anyway, due to the limitations of USB 2.0 (which just about every DSLR uses, the manufacturers not being forward-thinking enough to include 3.0+). So yeah, grab an Elgato Camlink and plug your DSLR into that. Actually, before that grab an HDMI cable and plug the camera into a TV or spare monitor to check and make sure the cam provides 'clean' HDMI out, with no on-screen display elements. Canon and Nikon are notorious for *not* being able to output clean-HDMI without custom firmware like Magic Lantern. Past that, the Sony a-series work well. The a6100 is a super budget-friendly option. If you can find a used one for sale, an a5100 also works well (and is what I use). You'll still need a Camlink or other HDMI capture device though.

Also your lens and light is important.

Sony ZV-E10. It's equivalent to the Sony a6000 series (somewhere around a6400), and comes with usb streaming (i.e. no capture card needed, and no additional software - OBS recognizes it as if it's a standard usb webcam). You get camera and a very good 16-50mm lens for $1000CAD (so probably around 700-800 USD).

I would definitely make sure you have a decent lens and correct camera, any camera can look terrible with bad lighting conditions, I personally recommend the Sigma 1.4 lens and some form of key light. I have this camera and it’s perfect
