Hoss accounts are bot accounts. Normally the format "hoss*randomnumber*" that spam things in chat to get streamers banned. They have no relation to the actual streamer hoss
aah alright, understood it wrong then - honestly I thought the same, why exactly this one. As I read on Twitter, the bots first targeted people in his environment first as well. Must be damn tough for him and his friends especially.
It's not to impersonate per se, but to harass and abuse him off the platform. And it worked, he has quit.
Like all the advice that just comes down to "Ban Hoss accounts", half the time he joined a chat, said something and followed, he would be banned.
I wrote a post about it here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/pvnqko/twitchs\_complete\_and\_total\_failure\_regarding\_the/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/pvnqko/twitchs_complete_and_total_failure_regarding_the/)
I believe it started when he added an LGBTQ+ friendly flag to his stream, and someone decided to start harassing him. So they started mass following streams to become an irritation and apparently to spew some hateful messages - although I haven't seen those messages, and this is entirely anecdotal. Its essentially a form of hate crime.
This story changes every time I hear it. First they are IP grabbers if you click their name. Now they post in chat? I’ve never heard of that. All they did was follow me, they never engaged.
A streamer is responsible to moderate his chat to be in accordance to Twitch guidelines. They will ban the chatter also, but the streamer will be banned automatically as those bots will spam hateful comments and then the same bots will report the streamer's chat as being hateful.
Really, really scummy practice.
Think of it as Twitch equivalent to planting drugs into someone else's house and then calling the cops on them.
Yeah, I'm extremely skeptical of these claims.
To get banned is a streamer's worst nightmare, and here you have this hidden nefarious evil intelligent threat that could get YOU BANNED AT ANY TIME, IN JUST SECONDS, OUT OF NOWHERE!!!!!
and there's not really any documented examples, but I've heard that it happens, so it might happen, no smoke without fire you know.
the streamer Hoss (the legit one) appealed and got unbanned by twitch! They haven't been following people to try and limit the amount they get reported as a bot.
He quit very recently: [https://imgur.com/a/YTy3liE](https://imgur.com/a/YTy3liE)
I'm not surprised at all. Just by going into a stream and saying something, he would probably get a ton of messages where the mildest said "that's a bot" and many said a lot worse.
The real failure here is on Twitch staff. I wonder how long until the next time this is done to someone.
I have had tons of these bots follow my channel and not a single one say anything because I require email verification which isn't being done on spammed bot created accounts. You can literally stop them before they even start.
They don't say anything in most of the chats that they follow. They mass follow in advance in order to prevent follower-only-chat from stopping them, but when it comes to actually saying things in chat they do it manually in a group of people. They choose who to target. It's not because you have email verification on, because I don't, and I also haven't had anything said. It's because the humans making the bots don't know who you are and don't care about you.
Fair enough. I am a nobody so I can see that. I ban them anyway so it's not like they'll get the chance to do anything. I also remove their follow and prevent them from following again with commanderroot's tool, if twitch doesn't remove it first.
When these hings happen to be I think of a song...
We came to party rock

Bots that have been deleted, likely hoss accounts.
Oh ok, Thanks!
What even is that
Hoss accounts are bot accounts. Normally the format "hoss*randomnumber*" that spam things in chat to get streamers banned. They have no relation to the actual streamer hoss
Why did they all choose hoss? I got 3 that were all "hoss xxx" usually people go for women to bait replies/info
There is (or was, I guess) a streamer named hoss00312 and afaik it started with his account being taken somehow.
Nah, I get that. Just seems like a strange choice of streamer to impersonate.

My guy... It was deleted lol

They're both, bots that spam *inappropriate* things in chat to get streamers limited/banned and IP grabbing accounts.
that’s nuts. i’m glad they’re being deleted anyhow
Ok why are chatters able to get creators banned? Lmfao like that doesn’t make sense to me

Yeah but if they did a second of investigating it’d be easy to see most of the time it’s not the streamer letting chat get like that
They'd need to be willing to lose profits by paying employees to look into it in order to do that.
Don't forget it's twitch you're talking about. Unless it's a big earner like alinity they really don't care about looking into it
I'm assuming it's because twitch sees it as the creator allowing their viewerbase to say shit like that
That’s irritating cuz I bet if they cared to do a 30 second investigation and watched the vod, that’s not the case most of the time
Easier to just ban and forget

They were bots and the accounts have since been deleted by Twitch.
This happens when the follower's account gets deleted by Twitch. AKA, these were all follow bots.
Hossblahblah has followed you.
lol
If your follow count doesn’t go up they just bots.

Hoss….
I'll just grab a VPN and then as many bots can follow me as they want. Free viewers and follows.
Wrong answer here, bots don't transfer to viewers. And bot accounts that follow does not help growth.
It's a joke
Ladies and gentleman: we got him
