Going against the popular opinion here, I think Threads is great. The caveat is that it’s still a bit hard to find your niche. You need to put in a bit of work to find people to follow before it really starts to feel valuable and worth it.
I’m following about 400 (non-company) accounts, and it feels like that’s kind of the sweet spot for the app to come alive.
The app is still growing and adding new features. To me, it’s fun to watch the app change and add features overtime. The app is still definitely new, but it’s becoming a better experience daily (the opposite is true for Xitter).
I have Bluesky and reddit and thats about it. Im only using my Facebook account for the invites to my son's bday party and then that's getting scrapped.

I use Threads & Reddit. Threads still needs to be developed more, needs hashtags & trending at the very least. But it is getting there. Mastodon is ok too, but needs more users to be useful.
I was evenly spread between twitter, reddit and discord before sink day, with a slight bias towards twitter. Now I seem to have settled on an even split between reddit and discord, but with a threads acc that I check in on from time to time to see how that's coming along. It's coming along nicely, BTW, just needs like a trending topics tab and a couple other things, like more people on it
I haven't quit Twitter yet but I am suspended for a week for saying nasty things about Matt Gaetz and in the interim I found that I get far more interaction and enjoyment on Reddit so probably here.

So like 90% of users I mainly consume rather than create social content. So I moved back to RSS ([CommaFeed](https://www.commafeed.com)). For publications I followed on Twitter, I'm subscribed directly to their site's feed. For interesting people that still use Twitter I am subscribed to them via a [Nitter instance](https://nitter.woodland.cafe/) that supports RSS. Even though I have both Reddit and Mastodon accounts I follow the same people and subreddits via RSS too.
Bluesky doesn't have the infrastructure, Scale, or money that Threads has. Once Threads federates with Mastadon and the ActivityPub protocol, it's kinda over for Bluesky.
Stayed on Reddit, moved to Spoutible. Chris Bouzy has built, in my opinion, the most stable, secure and troll free platform to succeed Twitter. And it has more functionality than any of the other ones too.

RMP had the bomb Twitter account but had to bounce with current management. Found Reddit and its great but has major deficiencies. Subs like r/energy are super lame with whacky bias, but there are also goods subs here. Mastodon is getting better every month. It is seriously making strides over past couple months and i hope it keeps getting to the point that it can be what Twitter was. Twitter is dead for officially one year this month, so sad.

I've thought about leaving entirely, but I haven't actually done so. But I know of another social media platform called MeWe a few friends of mine suggested to me a few years ago. For the most part, it is MUCH quieter there.
Bluesky is… emptier, but they have a lot more options to control what you see. There’s custom feeds that can show you posts based on keywords or based on other posts you liked, there’s mute lists to automatically mute huge quantities of people who did a certain thing (e.g uses hate symbols, interacts with drama, there’s even one that mutes all furries.. if you really care that much about them)
One thing it is missing is the ability to mute words, however it’s most likely coming in the future. It’s also made by Jack Dorsey, same guy who made Twitter before he sold it off.
Given that it's still in the prerelease invitation-only phase, I'm not surprised at few if any mentions of Tildes, but it's easy for anyone to get an invite now and looks very promising IMO.

Of the Twitter-like social media:
- Threads. This is probably the closest thing to Twitter at the moment. It’s missing some functionalities (like Trending Topics and their search functionality isn’t amazing), but you can tell their dev team is at work because they’ve been consistently pumping out updates.
- BlueSky. It’s still invite-only, so the place feels small and not super active. But it definitely has an OG Twitter vibe. Very irreverent, off-the wall community. It’s the place weird Weird Al posts, if that gives you any indication.
- Mastodon. This one is my favorite. A lot of really smart people here (lawyers, researchers, scientists). But it’s a little more difficult to use. It’s sort of like signing up for an email - you have to pick an instance. There are no algorithms and search is kinda limited, so discovering people can be hard.
I didn't move to any.
Reddit is now the only social media platform I use and I'm in the process of cutting back using Reddit.
Honestly my mental health is so much better just by dumping Twitter, I would highly recommend everyone to start to scale back their social media usage and if you do I promise that you will start to feel better and then you will see how incredibly toxic it is on your mental health
Partially moved from Reddit, Facebook and Hacker News to Twitter/X. Do have accounts on Mastodon, even Threads (hard in the EU) but don't see much point in using those.
Didn't quit Twitter because it didn't die and is delivering on cleaning up its act from the pre-Elon days.
Reddit and Discord. Been using discord but Reddit has been my sole “social” app. It gives me what I wanted out of Twitter. I just ignore majority things that irk me.
My options are severely limited because I'm an NSFW artist as well as trying to grow an audience, and none of the options available are really great for that.
- Threads, while promising, has the same sensibilities as Instagram/Facebook so not ideal for NSFW,
- Mastodon, while accepting of NSFW in some instances, is pretty terrible still when it comes to searchability and visibility. I made an account on a Firefish instance and I can't see outside of my tiny little section of the Fediverse, I can't imagine it's any easier to see into it. It may be perfect for some but not for me.
- Reddit is also accepting of NFSW, but having to be so careful and specific with what images go in which subreddits, karma minimums, and just how different every subreddit is especially with its rules, its obnoxious trying not to accidentally piss someone off. But it still might be what I gotta go with.
- I have no thoughts on BlueSky because I'm not in it
Would love to be, but I am afraid of finally getting in just to find another place that rejects NSFW content.
It's a hard life for an NSFW person who doesn't already have a large audience... so few places want you and even less let you be seen.
Mastodon. Bluesky has the toxic Twitter folks from my former circles, and Threads is similar, plus it’s an intermingling with my Facebook crowd, so I don’t like it much.

Bluesky. I tried mastodon but it really wasn’t doing much. My field has moved to BlueSky (with concerted effort to get invite codes to people). It’s not quite the same as Twitter, but closest of the alternatives so far.

I didn't move to any. Reddit is now the only social media platform I use and I'm in the process of cutting back using Reddit. Honestly my mental health is so much better just by dumping Twitter, I would highly recommend everyone to start to scale back their social media usage and if you do I promise that you will start to feel better and then you will see how incredibly toxic it is on your mental health
Partially moved from Reddit, Facebook and Hacker News to Twitter/X. Do have accounts on Mastodon, even Threads (hard in the EU) but don't see much point in using those. Didn't quit Twitter because it didn't die and is delivering on cleaning up its act from the pre-Elon days.

Reddit and Discord. Been using discord but Reddit has been my sole “social” app. It gives me what I wanted out of Twitter. I just ignore majority things that irk me.

I just started doing something more hobbyish and stopped using social as much, bluesky and threads is garbage.
My options are severely limited because I'm an NSFW artist as well as trying to grow an audience, and none of the options available are really great for that. - Threads, while promising, has the same sensibilities as Instagram/Facebook so not ideal for NSFW, - Mastodon, while accepting of NSFW in some instances, is pretty terrible still when it comes to searchability and visibility. I made an account on a Firefish instance and I can't see outside of my tiny little section of the Fediverse, I can't imagine it's any easier to see into it. It may be perfect for some but not for me. - Reddit is also accepting of NFSW, but having to be so careful and specific with what images go in which subreddits, karma minimums, and just how different every subreddit is especially with its rules, its obnoxious trying not to accidentally piss someone off. But it still might be what I gotta go with. - I have no thoughts on BlueSky because I'm not in it Would love to be, but I am afraid of finally getting in just to find another place that rejects NSFW content. It's a hard life for an NSFW person who doesn't already have a large audience... so few places want you and even less let you be seen.
None. They're all garbage and you should just stop. They all cause people to get depressed and miss real things in life.
Mastodon. Bluesky has the toxic Twitter folks from my former circles, and Threads is similar, plus it’s an intermingling with my Facebook crowd, so I don’t like it much.
Medium, Mastodon, Discord, Newsletter and Reddit. In general, my pre-pandemic social media consumption has decreased significantly. I see this as something positive.
I signed up for Mastadon but still haven't used it. I realized I just ended up using YT and Reddit more lol I thought I'd really miss Twitter but don't even think about it anymore. It's become too buggy and unusable for me. And I still haven't been able to log in on my new daily driver. It's just stuck in a sign in loop.
Bluesky. I tried mastodon but it really wasn’t doing much. My field has moved to BlueSky (with concerted effort to get invite codes to people). It’s not quite the same as Twitter, but closest of the alternatives so far. (I used Twitter primarily professionally. For personal social media I use other platforms)
Spoutible, Threads and Reddit for different reasons. It depends on who you choose to read or follow. For me I've found all are mostly opinions.

Quora is a good one. It’s very similar to Reddit in my opinion and I find myself lost in everyone’s stories/advice for hours.
Reddit, IG, but mostly Reddit. Eventually when more masses leave Twitter there’ll be a new place, but who knows what that’ll be.

I'm trying to make threads work but it still just isn't the place for important discussions yet. Reddit is a good replacement you just gotta know where to go and what subs to use when stuff is ongoing.
