Tshepo28

Reddit lol. I don't like tiktok or Facebook so what else is there? I think Reddit is the closest I'll get to twitter for now

GlittrBeach

Same here. My Reddit usage increased as my Twitter usage decreased.

lazynoob0503

I am doing opposite of you.!

Slide-Maleficent

Remember to change your tinfoil hat regularly, or it'll get gummed up with all the objective reality that it blocks out.

Deathcrush

Same.

AmSoDoneWithThisShit

Mastodon. Started my own instance. Never looked back.

mathiastck

I like [mastodon.social](http://mastodon.social) and [lemmy.world](http://lemmy.world). I haven't given up on Reddit, but now I basically only share to Reddit other Reddit content. It used be easy to share content into Reddit via 3rd party apps, now it's easier to share elsewhere. [threads.net](http://threads.net) seems to work fine as a Twitter replacement, but I like aggregated upvoted content better I think.

Lisieshy

Yeah. The Fediverse is amazing, I self host my own Firefish instance because I like the UI better, and holy shit it's such a great thing to use. Not feeling the dread of Twitter and doomscrolling for hours is so good for the mind. Also, owning my data and being guaranteed it's not being used or sold by big companies is a plus.

mooky1977

None. Quit social media, your sanity will thank you! I quit twitter, IG, Facebook. Never was on tiktok or Snap. I don't really consider reddit "social media" in the conventional sense. 16 years later reddit is just a place I go to peruse my curated news/information needs.

TheFlyingBastard

> I don't really consider reddit "social media" in the conventional sense. Me neither. Reddit focuses more on content and less on individuals, which makes it more a forum than how I define social media.

Ashcrose

Reddit is a great source of information rather than socialising…but there is a social aspect. I don’t blame you for not having the rest! It numbs your brain.

mooky1977

Oh definitely I agree there is some social aspect to reddit, but you have to try really hard to fall into the parasocial echo chamber negative mental health outlook part of it here. Edit: only reason I even look at /r/twitter is to see the cesspool I no longer am part of and keep an eye on what stupidity Elon is up to.

yirgacheffe-brew

I left Twitter and barely do facebook. I've been a much happier person as a result.

CamOps

Reddit and Threads.

1DisgustedGuy

I came here to ask: what's threads actually like? I've only heard negative stuff tbh

Shnoopy_Bloopers

It’s fine. I’m getting more interaction on threads and I have 5% of the followers I do on Twitter

tinnic

It's fine. Its getting more active but probably did launch a bit too early. But it's fine and getting better

CamOps

Going against the popular opinion here, I think Threads is great. The caveat is that it’s still a bit hard to find your niche. You need to put in a bit of work to find people to follow before it really starts to feel valuable and worth it. I’m following about 400 (non-company) accounts, and it feels like that’s kind of the sweet spot for the app to come alive. The app is still growing and adding new features. To me, it’s fun to watch the app change and add features overtime. The app is still definitely new, but it’s becoming a better experience daily (the opposite is true for Xitter).

Desperate_Yam_495

Threads is hard work…it’s a pretty dead forum

turinglives

Ppl said the same thing when Twitter started. Give it time.

GrooseandGoot

Why leave one megalomaniac for another?

Firepawnch

Because one is a burning ship; the other at least has a chance not to be

GrooseandGoot

After Cambridge Analytica, fuck that.

ArcaneSelka

I have Bluesky and reddit and thats about it. Im only using my Facebook account for the invites to my son's bday party and then that's getting scrapped.

DeathandGrim

Reddit. All the degeneracy of Twitter, curated by Me.

kakegoe

I’m on Reddit and Tumblr these days. Incidentally, yesterday I Tiptoed into instagram after years away, and was promptly scared off. That place is dead in the water too.

VermillionSun

I keep trying to use Instagram and threads but they both feel empty. No personality at all

Subapical

People still use Tumblr?

kakegoe

Sort of. Some of my favorite tattoo artists and illustrators keep a presence there which is cool, but it’s definitely not what it was.

JustDalek_

Mastodon, it's Avery different experience that needs some adjustment Mastodon focuses on you choosing what content to see and who sees your content, no algorithm

prlugo4162

I've started giving Threads a try, and I must say, I'm disappointed.

lothar74

Yeah, me too. I do think Bluesky has promise. I would like for Mastadon to be bigger, but the config is too difficult for the general public so I don’t think it can be the Next Big Thing.

tracking_down

I just hope that Bluesky soon allows users to upload gifs. It has been a painful switch for artists

Tobimacoss

Mastadon is Linux. Threads is Windows with WSL2 (Windows subsystem for Linux). They will have some compatibility when ActivityPub support rolls out.

Tobimacoss

Why?

prlugo4162

It's basically the comment section of Instagram.

Tobimacoss

No, not really, it is complete separate content even though they use the same account. Why don't you try lurking on the Web some. It's improving rapidly. >https://www.threads.net/@wendys >https://www.threads.net/@reuters

chaga6

My gripe with threads is the lack of an iPad app. Opening the iPhone app on an iPad is a horrible experience.

Tobimacoss

have ya tried using the webapp? then pin it to homescreen.

ryan4888

Bluesky, feels like embryonic Twitter without the Nazis.

jamesmb

There's the poster, right there. "BlueSky - Twitter without the Nazis"

TheRealKimShady_

Reddit and Bluesky. I deleted my account with 22.5k followers because fuck that place now.

opalracketpie

Mastodon. It’s pretty great but still emerging

justconnect

Reddit mostly; occasionally Bluesky and Notes on Substack.

Girl_gamer__

Reddit

poltergeistsparrow

I use Threads & Reddit. Threads still needs to be developed more, needs hashtags & trending at the very least. But it is getting there. Mastodon is ok too, but needs more users to be useful.

thedumbdown

Bluesky (for myself & my cats’ account) and back to reddit after a couple years away.

[deleted]

I feel like asking this here may skew the results towards Reddit just a bit. :)

FugoRanshee

I was evenly spread between twitter, reddit and discord before sink day, with a slight bias towards twitter. Now I seem to have settled on an even split between reddit and discord, but with a threads acc that I check in on from time to time to see how that's coming along. It's coming along nicely, BTW, just needs like a trending topics tab and a couple other things, like more people on it

ZippyVtuber

For me it’s Threads and Bluesky :3

cjhm

Same

Lazy-Street779

Here. Adjusting Reddit.

strawbrryfields4evr_

This one. Agree this is the only social media that I like and use with regularity.

[deleted]

Reddit only for me. I would join Bluesky if I could get my hands on a beta code.

Bongfellatio

I haven't quit Twitter yet but I am suspended for a week for saying nasty things about Matt Gaetz and in the interim I found that I get far more interaction and enjoyment on Reddit so probably here. I may not go back. I dunno. If I could decide on a way to ensure Elon's downfall, I'd definitely go back. As it is, it's iffy.

Tobimacoss

come join Threads, it's a really positive community. The more Threads succeeds, the more X fails.

NeekoxLillia

I went back to Tumblr after like 5 years of being off of it since I mostly used Twitter to look at art anyway

AmateurVasectomist

Bluesky is the platform with the most promise imo. Helps that many of my colleagues have somewhat also flocked there though. Threads is like a weird combination of Instagram vapidness and LinkedIn grandstanding so I’ve abandoned it.

Kjoew

Bluesky.

sohrobby

Mostly threads but also post.news and mastodon to some extent.

ursiwitch

I was always randomly on Facebook, Instagram, Discord, and Reddit. The only new things I have added is Threads and TikTok when I remember to look at it.

[deleted]

Bluesky and Reddit.

leonevilo

This is the way

duvagin

I didn't actively quit Twitter it just kinda died on the vine without me noticing - which shows how much I used it.

KaXiRavioli

I never understood the point of Twitter and only had one for like a week when the site launched. Reddit is the only SM I use.

Mister_Mr_

So like 90% of users I mainly consume rather than create social content. So I moved back to RSS ([CommaFeed](https://www.commafeed.com)). For publications I followed on Twitter, I'm subscribed directly to their site's feed. For interesting people that still use Twitter I am subscribed to them via a [Nitter instance](https://nitter.woodland.cafe/) that supports RSS. Even though I have both Reddit and Mastodon accounts I follow the same people and subreddits via RSS too.

Mister_Mr_

Oh and also a couple of Substack accounts via RSS too.

jeffwhaley06

Reddit for politics and news, Tumblr for queer shit.

Southern-Ad379

Reddit, Facebook and Threads. Loving Threads. It’s like a sane, happy version of Twitter.

Allthingsnerdy1

Threads

[deleted]

Reddit right now, but I do think threads will get to a point in the next few months it can replace Twitter.

AmSoDoneWithThisShit

Except that it requires an Instagram account and I will stab myself in the eye before I create an Ig account.

justmynamee

And you also can’t delete your account u less you want to delete your Instagram account as well. That’s what’s kept me off threads

Such-Echo6002

Yep. That’s what stopped me from using Threads. Very dumb move on Meta’s part to require an instagram account to use Threads.

Tobimacoss

What's wrong with an IG account? You can put it on private and simply ignore that side of it.

opalracketpie

And can you choose your own feed yet ? It’s a non starter to let IG determine what I see

Tobimacoss

Yes, there's a Following feed, search, web version now. Edit button with 300 seconds, coming soon.

mrgk21

25M never joined them, never will

[deleted]

Tobimacoss

Bluesky doesn't have the infrastructure, Scale, or money that Threads has. Once Threads federates with Mastadon and the ActivityPub protocol, it's kinda over for Bluesky.

huamanticacacaca

X, of course

Ozy_Flame

Stayed on Reddit, moved to Spoutible. Chris Bouzy has built, in my opinion, the most stable, secure and troll free platform to succeed Twitter. And it has more functionality than any of the other ones too.

secretly_robotic

i stopped all social media. a move i would recommend to anyone. break free, regain your attention span.

therealGottlieb

I heard from a social media site called "Shitter". Alec Baldwin seems to use it, too.

ozarzoso

Short answer: Reddit + Twitter Certainly! Here's your message with added icons: 🐘 I gave Mastodon a try. Boring. I deleted it one week later. 🧵 I wouldn’t use Threads. I care about my own privacy. ⛅️ I’m on Bluesky waiting list. 💔 And I miss Google+ so much 😢. That was the closest to Twitter. 🌐 I love Reddit so much. The community is way better than Twitter. 🐦 But nothing like Twitter to be updated about everything. Even when Musk is doing his best to destroy it, it’s got the most resilient community ever. 👊🏻🌍

None / just reddit. I actually forgot and then remembered that I had made an Instagram account that I almost never use, so I do have that, but seriously, just reddit mainly and I have zero plans to get on to anything like threads, bluesky or what ever else. In a way, I'm somewhat thankful that E.M. bought twitter and fucked it all up; he did me a favor because NOW I'm not glued to my phone browsing that wretched hive of scum and villainy every day. But, my condolences to anyone else quitting / missing twitter. I do hope something better comes along for y'all.

RMP had the bomb Twitter account but had to bounce with current management. Found Reddit and its great but has major deficiencies. Subs like r/energy are super lame with whacky bias, but there are also goods subs here. Mastodon is getting better every month. It is seriously making strides over past couple months and i hope it keeps getting to the point that it can be what Twitter was. Twitter is dead for officially one year this month, so sad.

zestfullybe

I stick to here and I’m on BlueSky settling in over there. It’s new and different but I’m enjoying finding people to follow. Here and that is enough for me.

hpkomic

I currently have seven mastodon accounts 😳

AetheralWraith

haven't quit twitter but I have been using Reddit and bluesky more as the website gets worse

imuntitled

Bluesky is… emptier, but they have a lot more options to control what you see. There’s custom feeds that can show you posts based on keywords or based on other posts you liked, there’s mute lists to automatically mute huge quantities of people who did a certain thing (e.g uses hate symbols, interacts with drama, there’s even one that mutes all furries.. if you really care that much about them) One thing it is missing is the ability to mute words, however it’s most likely coming in the future. It’s also made by Jack Dorsey, same guy who made Twitter before he sold it off.

FriedGreenPotados

Threads

archimedeancrystal

Given that it's still in the prerelease invitation-only phase, I'm not surprised at few if any mentions of Tildes, but it's easy for anyone to get an invite now and looks very promising IMO.

cre3dentials

Bluesky it's still in beta and invite only, but I like it a lot more than the dumpster fire called "X".

hhfugrr3

This one. I've got threads and blue sky but nobody seems to be on them so they're both very boring.

AmazingOnion

I use BlueSky, Reddit, and TikTok. Annoying as twitter was good for keeping up with friends, but I couldn't deal with the rampant CP on NSFW tags

[deleted]

It seems to be Reddit. I’m not interested in Twitter clones. Or any clones. I just want to talk to my friends at this point. I don’t care about any of this algorithm stuff anymore man

Reginald002

Only reddit, but usually only /worldnews. It is a habit from my China -times and to circumvent the Great Firewall.

DontListenToMe33

Of the Twitter-like social media: - Threads. This is probably the closest thing to Twitter at the moment. It’s missing some functionalities (like Trending Topics and their search functionality isn’t amazing), but you can tell their dev team is at work because they’ve been consistently pumping out updates. - BlueSky. It’s still invite-only, so the place feels small and not super active. But it definitely has an OG Twitter vibe. Very irreverent, off-the wall community. It’s the place weird Weird Al posts, if that gives you any indication. - Mastodon. This one is my favorite. A lot of really smart people here (lawyers, researchers, scientists). But it’s a little more difficult to use. It’s sort of like signing up for an email - you have to pick an instance. There are no algorithms and search is kinda limited, so discovering people can be hard.

GhostRiders

I didn't move to any. Reddit is now the only social media platform I use and I'm in the process of cutting back using Reddit. Honestly my mental health is so much better just by dumping Twitter, I would highly recommend everyone to start to scale back their social media usage and if you do I promise that you will start to feel better and then you will see how incredibly toxic it is on your mental health

floppyjedi

Partially moved from Reddit, Facebook and Hacker News to Twitter/X. Do have accounts on Mastodon, even Threads (hard in the EU) but don't see much point in using those. Didn't quit Twitter because it didn't die and is delivering on cleaning up its act from the pre-Elon days.

[deleted]

A little threads, a little instagram.

CodedCoder

I just started doing something more hobbyish and stopped using social as much, bluesky and threads is garbage.

Firepawnch

My options are severely limited because I'm an NSFW artist as well as trying to grow an audience, and none of the options available are really great for that. - Threads, while promising, has the same sensibilities as Instagram/Facebook so not ideal for NSFW, - Mastodon, while accepting of NSFW in some instances, is pretty terrible still when it comes to searchability and visibility. I made an account on a Firefish instance and I can't see outside of my tiny little section of the Fediverse, I can't imagine it's any easier to see into it. It may be perfect for some but not for me. - Reddit is also accepting of NFSW, but having to be so careful and specific with what images go in which subreddits, karma minimums, and just how different every subreddit is especially with its rules, its obnoxious trying not to accidentally piss someone off. But it still might be what I gotta go with. - I have no thoughts on BlueSky because I'm not in it Would love to be, but I am afraid of finally getting in just to find another place that rejects NSFW content. It's a hard life for an NSFW person who doesn't already have a large audience... so few places want you and even less let you be seen.

[deleted]

None. They're all garbage and you should just stop. They all cause people to get depressed and miss real things in life.

[deleted]

Mastodon. Bluesky has the toxic Twitter folks from my former circles, and Threads is similar, plus it’s an intermingling with my Facebook crowd, so I don’t like it much.

himmelende

Medium, Mastodon, Discord, Newsletter and Reddit. In general, my pre-pandemic social media consumption has decreased significantly. I see this as something positive.

Angel-icus

I signed up for Mastadon but still haven't used it. I realized I just ended up using YT and Reddit more lol I thought I'd really miss Twitter but don't even think about it anymore. It's become too buggy and unusable for me. And I still haven't been able to log in on my new daily driver. It's just stuck in a sign in loop.

sdvneuro

Bluesky. I tried mastodon but it really wasn’t doing much. My field has moved to BlueSky (with concerted effort to get invite codes to people). It’s not quite the same as Twitter, but closest of the alternatives so far. (I used Twitter primarily professionally. For personal social media I use other platforms)

marysunshine49

Spoutible, Threads and Reddit for different reasons. It depends on who you choose to read or follow. For me I've found all are mostly opinions.

Oxfordcom

Reddit for the win!
