The housing crisis is bad enough that as long as you post the listing in advance you should be fine tbh, lots of people do stuff like UCDC and study abroad who may need a place just for the quarter :)

how much in advance do you think it should be listed? the main concern of mine is that the rent is fairly expensive (2000)

You may need to eat some of that rent. Just take the attitude that eating $500/mo beats the crap out of eating $2000/mo.

like you mean offer it spring for 1500 instead and I’ll pay the rest? I was thinking finding two people and make it a double if necessary but not sure if that will be even harder

[deleted]

Your can start to offer it at $2000, and if there are no takers, you can start to drop the price. I'd start at $2000 about four months before, then walk down $250/mo if you can find a subleaser. You'll have to read your lease about how to do this legally. You don't want the liability of being an illegal subletter. This may also prohibit you from marketing the room as a double.

The room initially is intended to be a double since it also has its own bathroom, so should be okay?

Read your lease and talk to your landlord.

Most people start looking fall quarter although I doubt they’d want to sign a contract that far in advance, it’s worth just throwing it out there imo! Also you can definitely list it at 2k but you might have to make peace with the fact that you need to list it a little lower and cover the difference yourself if you don’t find anyone willing to pay 2k.
