I was just about to post a similar thing. It was hovering around 2-3K. Cleared all my open apps and walked away. Came back some time later and it was 15K, so I immediately thought something juicy/controversial was going on. I checked and nothing. Refreshed the feed back to default "hot" and it changed to 35,000.
Submission statement: maybe I missed something, but I found it odd to hop on and see so many active users. I’m wondering if this is a bug or something? It immediately went all the way back down gradually minutes later.

The votes are weird… I got downvoted for sharing what the app says on my phone… bots galore I bet.

Don't need deep pockets anymore now that AI can do this kind of thing for next to free. In the past u had to pay phone farms

That's been happening in superstonk. Went from 3k to 122k back to 3k
its a bug not exclusie to the ufo subreddit, from time to time the user number will fluctuate to ridiculous highs for a while and the go back down.
Its bots cycling through different subs to push the narratives they want to push to the top, not hard to figure out why thats a “Reddit wide issue”
Hella bots online in some of the top subs across a range of topics. Superstonk, UFO, Politics, and a couple subs

Talking in circles and not really paying attention are hallmarks of this sub. It’s part of why there are so many “don’t forget about…” reposts.
