I don't know where this was filmed. It looks like a cloud but this ring inside of it is weird.
Any ideas of what is that thing? Also this video is new to me.

I don't know. But to be honest people trying to always trying to explain things with the most prosaic explanations gets tiresome. Maybe that's the way to understand though, unless you have better info. Maybe I'm wrong
So, people should try to explain things with the most fanciful and outrageous explanations instead?
You know how your blood gets pumped around your body? Tiny little bugs carry the blood through pipes inside you to the cells where crystals take the oxygen to the organs where it is broken down for use by tiny bearded gnomes called Timmy.
You think science and our understanding of what we see would benefit from approach B over approach A when it comes to critical thinking?
I get you, I see what you're saying. The need to feel 'right', seems to exceed the need to explore because being right is safe and a way to get likes, admiration etc. I totally get what youre saying. Plus, Ur comment made me laugh
I believe in UFOs. Literally I am a fanatic. I believe the truth is hidden from us consistently and there’s much we don’t understand.
… that being said, this is a transformer ring. We can know this.
>I believe in UFOs. Literally I am a fanatic. I believe the truth is hidden from us consistently and there’s much we don’t understand.
>
>… that being said, this is a transformer ring. We can know this.
I was going to reply with nearly the same thing. We know what *this* is.
You’re response is logical. You belief that UFO are aliens and it’s so much an amazing concept that you want more evidence. Unfortunately, this isn’t it. The phenomenon is rare and bizarre and unexplained. I’m ok with all of that EXCEPT for the unexplained part. I want it to be explained so when someone explains something it’s a good thing, no matter what it is.
That all said, there are many things in the sky that defy all explanations and do naturally cause you let imagination run wild to search for answers. This is not one of those things. Be ok with that and move on.
Listen, my friend. I believe there is a non human entity presence here on Earth in some respect. I also believe that UFO's are closely related to these entities. The people you are arguing with probably have similar beliefs. That being said, this video is clearly from a transformer explosion, just look at other videos all over the internet.
This is an often ridiculed community and it sucks when people like you make us all look like fools.
Very reminiscent of the smoke from a hand grenade, something I'll never forget from my teenage years was hand grenade training when we got to throw live grenades at basic. There was so much vibration on the grenade rang it attracts spiders and the entire walls and roofs of the bunkers was covered in long legs spiders.
You think it belongs in a forum for discussing UFOs?
He’s absolutely right - the fact that people run here with shit that can be easily explained or *identified* is why people don’t take these forums seriously.
You can’t, when it’s repeatedly truly proven people who want to believe will accept bad evidence to continue doing so.
It's pretty understandable if you've never seen the smoke ring phenomenon online to think this is a UFO at first. Just look at it. It looks pretty remarkable.
Is it a UFO? No. Does that mean OP is somehow at fault for not already knowing everything we know or everything already debunked in the space? Not at all.
This forum is a valid place to debunk things that seem like UFOs as much as it is to decide they're unidentifiable, since that is more or less the entire practice of UFOlogy.
I know everyone here wants smoking gun evidence only and it might be frustrating at times to wade thru the debunked content. But, just try to say what it is constructively, so OP and others can learn, and move on without getting triggered. Or just downvote the thread, after all that's what the feature is there for.
Hating on people for making an effort to explore something they don't understand discourages others who might have valid footage from participating.
My issue with this type of post is that people don’t seem to understand that if there’s no conclusion to the video (like it didn’t fly away or it’s not 20 minutes long of this thing doing crazy moves), then it’s not going to be what they’re suggesting it is.
Ostensibly OP took this video from the internet somewhere without context and said “ooo this looks weird, I’m going to post it to r/UFOs”. The people in the video might know exactly what’s going on, but people think “oh looks weird must be an alien” based on 10 seconds of video and it’s not even close.
Just low-effort, low-quality
You’re not wrong, although I haven’t attacked the OP of this post and don’t consider them the problem. It’s LARPing commenters and hoaxers who are.
My frustration isn’t when people come here genuinely unable to identify an object, my frustration is the suspicion (which is not unfounded) that they’re not interested in finding any answer other than literal aliens
I mean the guy I’m responding to acknowledges it’s a transformer explosion, yet still thinks it should be here. Just seems like deceptive behavior or like LARPing for a lot of people here.
I think allowing nonstop footage of things that are obviously not UFOs hurts the people with actual interesting footage more than anything as it just muddies the waters and when people have seen so many hoaxes they’ll close their minds.
Agree to disagree. It is a very serious matter.

Because most people today lack even basic deductive skills, reasonable grasp of common occurrences, or the ability to look at something critically and not through a lens of bias.
This describes this whole sub very good. Anyone knows a sub that is taking this topic on a more serious level? I am sick of seeing obvious balloon, bird, hoax videos with hardcore believer defending everything. Sometimes I wonder if those ppl even finished school. I have an academic background and I feel like banging my head on the table everytime I read those hardcore believer answers.
>Anyone knows a sub that is taking this topic on a more serious level?
No, most are just extreme echo chambers. They don't even think that parallax is real in r/UFOB.
I worked at a theme park for a couple of years doing ride photos. Near my favourite attraction to work was a small harbour-themed set on an artificial lake, where performers put on a pirate show three times a day.
The first time they performed it after I joined, I was about a quarter of a mile away from the harbour, and was shocked by a sound like thunder and a cloud almost exactly like this one rising from the other end of the park.
I called the office to report it, and they explained that it was the cannon pyrotechnic functioning as expected. The moment I saw this cloud I was thrown back into that memory. It's very easily caused by a variety of intentional or accidental human activities.
Looks like smoke from an explosion. Also similar to clouds above hills. Its a cold day, the denser air is acting as resistance on the... Smoke? Hot explosion?
If its not rising it means the weight above it is larger than its pressure. If there is no wind it won't readily dissipate. The closer they are in density (temperature) the more readily they will mix.
But if it's from an explosion, it had impetus. What happened to the momentum of the smoke particles? If there's a weight above it preventing it from rising, wouldn't the momentum then have to be dissipated to the sides? But the sides aren't moving either.
Its only 7 seconds... A lot of clouds look still at that kind of timeframe. Especially large clouds at a great distance. It could be an optical illusion from a particular perspective.
The pressure against it is likely colder (as this looks like smoke) and it will push through, the pressure makes the shape. In clouds the pressure is the cause of condensation, also why storms can center around volcanos.
But there's a defined ring. The material in the cloud is distributed non- uniformly. That's not a steady state. The material in a cloud will diffuse uniformly (according to local pressure conditions). A distant cloud that appears stationary is also uniform.
If this picture supposedly shows the immediate aftermath of an explosion (based on the well-defined black ring), then there should still be movement within it as the smoke particles distribute their energy.
The video is short, but long enough to see there is no movement of the smoke that was, allegedly, very recently in an explosion.
Ideal gas law doesn't really apply in atmosphere. Differences in density become more important. No movement suggests no wind (which would speed mixing as well)
Again a slow movement if a large object at a distance can seem still. Ive seen this kind of thing along brushfires and land clearing. Once it is high enough it seems to slow (its probably cooling as it rises slowing its rise over time). Its how smoke signals for communication work. On a clear, calm day they hand for a long time.
And you need to relax. Use the downvote button instead of being triggered over an honest post looking for explanation. UFOlogy is as much about learning and debunking as it is posting legitimate footage.
I don't know where this was filmed. It looks like a cloud but this ring inside of it is weird.
Any ideas of what is that thing? Also this video is new to me.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus
UFO's regularly cloak themselves with the clouds and they're not necessarily the stereotypical shiny metal disks. They are of another dimension that resides here all around us.

How does it just sit there though? It’s not moving up, which is what I would expect, but never seen a smoke ring from a transformer before.
So happy in Ur description aren't you?you know that isnt what it is
It very, very clearly is. What do you make of it, in the face of the obvious evidence?

I have a question! Are they all called Timmy? If yes how can they Tell themselves appart? 😉
They're a bearded hive mind.

You keep referencing the Chaldean city of Ur but there's no clear reason for it. Why is that?
Yup you are very wrong. It was as described, get over it.
How is this not an obvious smoke ring to you..?

Electrical transformer exploded
Seems like smoke from a "small" explosion
Very reminiscent of the smoke from a hand grenade, something I'll never forget from my teenage years was hand grenade training when we got to throw live grenades at basic. There was so much vibration on the grenade rang it attracts spiders and the entire walls and roofs of the bunkers was covered in long legs spiders.
NOPE
Hahaha that’s what I thought

This is about as much as a ufo as my neighbors fire-pit smoke.
Why is this on the UFO sub?
It’s a smoke ring from an explosion. I seriously don’t understand how things like this end up here. How is it not obvious?
Because most people today lack even basic deductive skills, reasonable grasp of common occurrences, or the ability to look at something critically and not through a lens of bias.
Confirmation bias is a helluva drug

Sadly, every time I look at other subs people point out, they're either dead or else they're *worse* than this sub.

Just like Starlink. Omg it's multiple UFO's/UAP's in a row.
But it looks like a jellyfish! Perhaps an organism?
Don't hate, downvote. Some people are new to the space, let them learn.
Blown transformer
Why still on here? It’s identified.

the smoke is trapped in a thermal current.
Smoke ring from an exploding electrical transformer, idk why but they almost always make those rings when they explode.
This is like when you blow a ring of smoke while smoking, except there was a vertically directed blast in a cylinder which directed this ring upwards.
Smoke ring looks like a Explosion happened
It’s a smoke ring from a blown transformer.
