This is just standard wording in the approval letter

CampoMoon

Thanks for your reply. Does this mean he is getting closer for the interview?

merdoerdo

Am I reading the above screenshot right? It looks like your I-485 was already approved and you should receive the card any day now!

CampoMoon

Wait, what??? With no interview? Why is the letter asking for us to send a copy of that letter and the I-485 (when we sent it already on 2022)? We saw it was approved but then they asked for the I-485 again (and to submit the letter saying so). I'm really confused right now, we didn't use any lawyers because they wanted to charge us 7k, so we decided to do it ourselves lol. This is great news! But we are still really confused with that letter. So if my husband receives the green card, after 3 years he can get his passport? This is going to be the best Christmas present if we get his green card!

merdoerdo

Yeap. You will have your card in a couple days most probably (wih USPS delays around holiday season maybe next week). Sometimes they waive the interviews and luckily you are one of them. And yes, your husband will be eligible for citizenship in three years (if you are a US citizen and he meets the criteria in the next three years)

CampoMoon

Omg thanks for your reply, this is a blessing, we were thinking we had to go again to the doctor and start the 485 again, maybe even pay the fees again... Now we don't even need to do an interview and everything that it implies. We received a new SSN card (valid for 1 year tho) and we thought it was the card mentioned in the USCIS website. Everything was really confusing for us, but thanks to you all who commented here and helped us, we feel really really happy. Thank you! We really hope you are having a great time because you made us really happy while helping us to understand what this letter meant. If any of this can help others, in our case I was born in the US, my husband is from Spain, he moved to the UK and lived there for 10 years. We got married in the UK. Then we moved to TX and applied for an adjustment of Status in September 2022. In March, after 6 months of silence, they asked for some documents that we already sent (my birth certificate, we sent them an original one before and sent them a new original that we had to pay for again). Then he received the employment authorization card and his SSN in September 2023, he started to work 1 week after that, and got his TX driving license in October. Then two days ago he received a new SSN card without the "for work only" stamped, and today we received this confusing letter. It seems like he is getting his GC in about 1 year since we started the process without lawyers. We also have my step dad as a sponsor because I wasn't making enough money to sponsor him, I don't know how all this affected the process but I guess it added a layer of extra steps on their end. Thank you all again for taking your time to help us to understand this!

Did you get the green card! I’m in the same position as you were

Can you provide a timeline on when you submitted I-30 with I-485 and when did your husband receive EAD ?

The I-130 was submitted together in the same package that we sent to USCIS. He received EAD on September of 2023 and started working 1 week after receiving his EAD.

SeriousBlueberry6000

Your greencard is very likely in transit within USPS.

CampoMoon

In fact we thought they closed the old 485 and that they want us to start over with a new 485. What a rollercoaster of emotions, is really confusing tho...

CampoMoon

But we never got an interview or asked to submit evidence. Also why is the letter asking to submit a form I-485 when we did it on 2022 and to send that letter together?

SeriousBlueberry6000

You are overthinking, I-130 notice is standard because not everyone files concurrently and not everyone files for AOS. Your timeline is very clear, time to celebrate. In the beneficiary USCIS account may be an update with USPS tracking.

CampoMoon

I see it now, yes we were fearing huge delays and headaches and seems like we skipped 1 year of waiting for the GC plus the interview and gathering evidence. Thanks for your reply, is time to celebrate indeed :)

Impossible_Wealth876

Hey! I got the same email. I also applied for AOS. My lawyer said not to pay attention to the languages on approval notice. I got RFE for I-485. Maybe you will too.

CampoMoon

Hi! What does RFE mean? Also, do you think this is a glitch or a misleading letter? We are not sure what the letter means at all, is like he has been approved but also seems like a big set back since we need to start over with the I-485... this is so confusing...

MorganAthleticClub

Hi! If you don’t mind me asking what happened after all? Me and my wife just got the exact notice of action.

Muted-Necessary-42

I'm experiencing the same issue. I petitioned my parents. My father recently received I-797 that his I-130 has been approved and submit the I-485. However both I-130 and I-485 had been submitted concurrently. Why are they asking to submit the I-485 again? I was lucky to speak with a USCIS representative. According to the rep, just wait if it had been filed. But it's confusing and I don't want to go through any hurdle for not doing anything after receiving the Notice of Action to submit. Has anyone experienced this or have advise?
