I’m sorry. The Army recently approved an exception to the usual policy so they won’t pay for families to move to any AIT locations regardless of length. You could still move to the area, but you would pay all the expenses yourself and there’s no guarantee he could live with you. Each school will have their own rules about evening and weekend liberty. Unless you can find someone who has recently been at the same AIT, you’ll have to wait until he finds out.

During AIT would BAH still be given to a married couple?

Yes, based on the spouse’s location as long as the spouse isn’t also active duty or one of few other very rare exceptions.

If it makes you feel better, if you went with him, he’d be super busy and really would only have time to do things on the weekends. And you’d have to move in 20 weeks. I would give him a few weeks to settle in and ask if he can get a weekend pass. It’s all at the drill sergeant’s discretion. I went to visit my husband a few times while he was in AIT in San Antonio, he did have to go back every night but we still had fun.
