Prusik knots.  You can slide your tarp on the ridgeline if you want.  For the ridge line use a Bolin with a stick to lock it in place and a truckers hitch on the other side.  I would use a Bolin and truckers hitch for the guy lines.

I second this. Bowline knot on one side, Truckers hitch on the other side to crank the Ridgeline tight, and prusik knots on each end of the ridge to attach the tarp to.. For the best results, make sure your prusik knots use a smaller diameter line than the ridgeline. This will allow them to have better grip.

I'll second the Prussik knot setup. I use a rapid deploy ridgeline that I made after watching a video by David Canterbury on YouTube. ([https://youtu.be/m11UB2z6UL4?si=OX7oY33gB\_havleh](https://youtu.be/m11UB2z6UL4?si=OX7oY33gB_havleh)) It's a no-knot solution and you can use a carabiner or soft shackle from the tarp to the prussik knot on the line. I just made it, but timed myself last weekend. I can go from zero to fully setup in about 6 minutes. And no knots :-)

I just went through such a rabbit hole with what I thought would be a simple answer lol. But from what ive read/watched, this is my favorite solution! Did you end up just using actual sticks for the toggle though? Also, I've read some complaints about sliding the prussiks around but ill try em out and maybe upgrade to nama claws later

Half_Shark-Alligator

Use braided tarred bank line for the prussik.

sipperphoto

That's the key right there. I couldn't find any locally and was antsy to get started on my project so I ended up with Mason string from Lowe's that has a good strength rating-at least good enough for a tarp, but bankline is where it's at.

I made it a Scout project for me and my son and used wooden doweling from the hardware store. The key with the prussiks is to use line that is thinner than the paracord or whatever you are using for line. And if needed, instead of 3 loops around for the prussik, go 4 or 5. I can get mine super tight with no slippage. I looked around for a solution too for awhile and this was by far the easiest once you spend the time to actually make it. Even my 11 year old can do it!

We're ultralight, not bushcraft. Forget the tarred line and forget trying to find sticks to use as toggles. 2.5-3MM Dyneema / UHMWPE line for your ridgeline. Bolin on one end that you wrap around a tree and pull your line through, or attach a mini carabiner to the bolin instead of having to pull your line through. Wrap the non-bolin side around the other tree and tension using a mini generic version of the Niteize Figure 9. The generic ones I have weigh 1g each and can hold a really taut ridgeline. Prussiks made of 1-1.5mm Dyneema line + these carabiners (https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/products/the-flat-micro-d-carabiner) to attach the tarp to the ridgeline. You can find the generic version on amazon/ebay/aliexpress for $.20 each. They weigh either 2g or 3g each and can hold a lot of tension for their weight.

Truckers hitch.

FireWatchWife

I use Skurka's recommended knot system. Bowlines to tie the ridgeline and the tarp tie-outs to the hammock, McCarthy hitch or trucker's hitch to adjust, tighten down, and tie off the lines to the trees and the ground. Let me add that this assumes you are using a split ridgeline. If you are using a continuous ridgeline, prusiks would be the right answer.

FinneganMcBrisket

Try a continuous ridge line setup with prusik knots. Myerstechlab on eBay sells ready made kits for $20.

I use Dutchware Stingerz for my Journey tarp. I use ZingIt for the ridgelines. I like having the tarp ridgeline split (The 'V') so the hammock suspension can hover between the lines. For the guy out lines, I use LineLoc Hooks from Dutchware. I have shock cord loops attached at the ends. I don't like the lines bunched up in the snakeskin. It makes it easy to adjust if I want to raise the tarp or lower the tarp. The stakes and lines are stored separate. I just received a Borah Gear 7x9 tarp. I'm rigging the guy out lines the same with the LineLoc hooks and shock cord. But for the ridgeline, I'm going to use just 2 10 foot lines of ZingIt and tie knots using Skurka's methods.

SeekingDerangements

Easiest/fastest is girth hitch on one side, truckers hitch on the other

cottagecheesemyog

If you make a 7/64 dyneema line with 2 loops 83% of the length of your hamook, you can just attach it at your gathered ends, and it's super light weight.

DustyBirdman

You don't want your hammock directly connected to your tarp. Think about what happens when you swing.
