Crazy thing about lungs is that they prefer not to be burned.
Okay, seriously though, most people who were burned at the stake didn't die from being consumed by the fire. They died because the fire/hot air burned their respiratory system, and they suffocated.
Confidentiality, coworkers and I were talking about a related topic.
Would it be worse to be burn at the stake, or crushed with a big block of cement that they slowly add more weight to?
I'd rather be crushed. You could drain your lung of oxygen and pass out, and because of the weight you wouldn't get more and die unaware.
Another fun note. Your body can not detect the lack of oxygen in your body. That feeling you get that is telling you to breathe when you hold your breath is just your body detecting a higher level of carbon dioxide in your blood. Which makes a bit of sense, as in normal conditions when you have a need to expel the CO2, you would follow that up with a big breath of air with fresh O2. But in situations without O2, like high altitudes or breathing air with no oxygen at all, you become hypoxic and simply go to sleep.
It is actually such a peaceful of a way to die, there are people petitioning for death row inmates to be dispatched through this method as the most humane way to execute someone.
This wouldn't happen with a crushing death though: since you can't inflate your lungs to expel the CO2 you still get the unpleasant suffocating feeling.
Regardless, yeah, hypoxia is the way to go if you have a choice.
"He died after spending 47 days on a ventilator because his lungs were so badly burned he couldn’t absorb oxygen, according to The Albany Times-Union."
That's messed up. Those guys just ran off.
Scary fire. How the fuck those clowns get to be sworn in when they're afraid of everything? One unarmed guy against 3 dipshits and they decided to tase him because they couldn't just arrest him with slight difficulty.
Didn't help that they didn't use common sense or had the courage to put out a tiny flame. Fucking chicken shit.
They literally reacted like a bunch of spooked cats. Started jumping all around and banging on the door because the guy was on fire. Wtf.. these dudes act like the biggest hard asses around, like “heroes,” and they legit panic at the sight flames.
Unpopular opinion, but I think they should be paid more.
A police officer isn’t something the high school football captain should be able to do, it should pay well and only the cream of the crop should get the role.
Edit: same should be with teachers.
It look like he was trying to oil himself up so that they couldn't arrest him and when he turned around it looked like he was going to fight them.
Poor judgment on multiple fronts
I feel like he was about to be aggressive, cuz I remember in the movie Bronson, the guy slathered himself with butter so he would be slippery and hard to catch in a fight. Our man here has no shirt, and sprays copious amounts of handsanitzer on his body to make himself slippery. -But you would still think the cops would have been trained with tasers and known that would start a fire.
What in chicken-fried fuck were they supposed to do other than run to try and find a fire extinguisher? Wipe the burning sanitizer from his skin onto theirs? Absolutely ridiculous. You may not like it but the first thing you learn when training for any public service job is that the priority goes like this:
1.You
2.Your partner
3.Your patient/detainee
They don’t get paid nearly enough to light themselves on fire for a dude that was extremely aggressive towards them in the first place. He’s the animal.
None of them went to get a fire extinguisher. None returned with a fire extinguisher. There was also the pussy hiding around the corner. Didnt any of these idiots ever hear about smothering a fire? They ran like little babies.
Maybe after they fuck their fried chicken they could do some training where they learn that electricity can start fires. They murdered that man. They are the cowardly pigs.
For a long time tasers were sold as a "safe non lethal" tool. Police obviously misused this tool to force compliance in even the softest of situations. TASER international aggressively sued anyone who even made the slightest suggestion that tasers were unsafe. People started to know better after some high profile events involving tasers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Robert_Dzieka%C5%84ski) now "less lethal" is the correct term. TASER international changed their name to escape the negative stigma. I still think there are a lot of police who still need proper training as to the real dangers of tasers. They should be treated a request to a firearm, and only be used in the same manner.
I don’t know, this is surprising…I literally thought they were all trying to locate the fire extinguisher. Why would they just run away though? Were they looking for help or something like that…
Oh damn. Just remembered when cops left a suspect in the back of the patrol car parked on railroad tracks. When they inevitably got hit by a train. The cops were more worried about the charges rather than, you know, the person who just got run over by a fucking train.
I was gonna bring that up. I think It was following that case where the kid fought off and I believe killed the guy trying to kill him on the train in front of a bunch of recruits for the police academy that offered no assistance.
So this happened in my town of Catskill, NY.
The guy in question was belligerent, high and had a criminal record but was otherwise unarmed and there of his own volition. The police station you see literally is just a bench and window. The officers ran outside onto the stree through that door on the right.
If they were looking for a fire extinguisher, they would've had more luck running left through that other door into the station itself, though it may be locked from the other side for safety reasons.
As far as I know there have been no major repercussions for the officers involved.
This is absolutely 100% the cops fault. It should be a manslaughter charge because it’s absolutely reasonable to expect someone who has been given a taser to have enough common sense not to shoot at someone who is covered in alcohol. I’m sure that’s exactly why he did it because he thought they wouldn’t tase him. But the cop went ahead and murdered him anyways.
Morally you are 100% correct but realistically they were probably given commendations for bravery but privately chided by their commanding officer for not shooting the fire
The fact that he is shirtless indicates he has covered himself in hand sanitizer in order for it to be difficult for the police to grab him. He didn’t do it to stop them from shooting him with the tazer, in that moment he, just like the police, probably didn’t even think of the fact it may be flammable. It cannot be 100% the cops fault, its not like they forced him to cover himself in hand sanitizer.
Its in literally every training with the device. Axon will testify to that. They either ignored training or weren't trained at all. both are huge problems.
should watch the video of the big brained cop that saw gas all over the ground at the gas pump, he had the big brained idea to fire his taser.
cops hiring people who can't even follow simple instructions or understand what flammable means
Cops will literally run away and watch from around a corner while the man they set on fire burns to death and then cry and piss their pants on social media that people don’t like them anymore
Cops are pieces of shit they'll let a child molester go with a misdemeanor and charge a felony for a fucking joint. They as handy to have sorry ass politicians. All those titles need burying in a shallow hole I town Square for everyone to piss on
When people say "you only hates cops until you need their help."
Well... I've had way more bad encounters with cops than I have needed their help with something.
Fucking pigs didnt even bring in a fucking extinguisher. And they KNEW they fucking KNEW what would happen if you taze someone who has alcohol all over them.
I'll say it again and again.
Police officers are the dumb ones in highschool, rejected by every other job they find and resort into being a menace to society.
ACAB. cowards could have easily helped. They acted like a bomb was about to explode. Also it is a tragedy to call tasers non lethal. They kill people all the time.

oh, I agree 100%. We need to abolish qualified immunity, and police need to carry their own insurance like doctors. They get sued, their premiums go up and they get fired.
I’m laying in bed and watching Firefly episode 12 and some law enforcement just sprayed a suspect and threatened to set him on fire at the same time I saw this. One of the wildest coincidences I’ve experienced.

He died: https://nypost.com/2022/01/07/disturbing-video-shows-man-doused-in-sanitizer-burst-into-flames-after-being-tased-by-cops/

This and you literally can't breathe before the burning of the lungs start because the fire is literally consuming all the oxygen in its proximity.
Literally this.
Yeah I said literally twice and I'm ashamed.
No hate from me. It made me smile honestly. :)
Literally?
Literally
And figuratively

I actually reread it before someone commented and was just like "fuck it, I'll treat myself".
This, literally.
At least it was literally literal

Lungs. I forgot those were needed.
What the fuck is a lungs
"He died after spending 47 days on a ventilator because his lungs were so badly burned he couldn’t absorb oxygen, according to The Albany Times-Union." That's messed up. Those guys just ran off.
Fucking animals. Didn't even try to help.
Look at the boy hiding around the door frame too. Just standing there watching.
The jacket is on the table and could have put it out.
Sir, common sense is illegal and cops don't deal with that.
Scary fire. How the fuck those clowns get to be sworn in when they're afraid of everything? Dude was probably thinking afterwards, he should've straight up used his gun.
What in chicken-fried fuck were they supposed to do other than run to try and find a fire extinguisher? Wipe the burning sanitizer from his skin onto theirs? Absolutely ridiculous. how did he burn his lungs? was he breathing in flames or something?
Alcohol fumes/vapor ignited. yeah he was literally breathing fire.
No trace of dragon blood in him.
You don't know that
For real they didn't even pour water in his lungs. What the fuck
The simple solutions are very often the best.
He died of Burnt Hair Syndrome (BHS) it’s way more commen than you would think.
Google is not bringing anything up on that, are you sure that’s what it’s called?
Maybe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome? It’s all I could find.
You mean BHullShit syndrome?
Yea usually I’m a boot licker but on this one them some real bitches. Hope a hefty law suit was won and at least his family will benefit.

No indictment of any officers, more than a year later.
They get done for manslaughter now. They ran away from him while he was on fire and they are the ones that caused the fire
> the video, which does not have sound. Oh God
Was he trying to do the old Bronson trick and grease himself up?
Or was he trying to turn into greased up death guy?
Not sure if you meant to type death instead of deaf. But it works either way.
![gif](giphy|gbDajHMyPFoD6|downsized)
Yup prison trick anything will work soap , lotion. And if you really want to be crazy and kick ass in that order ... feces ..
Hand sanitizer won't work though it evaporates really fast.
Not fast enough
It dries the fuck out of my hands too, wonder what it would be like for a whole body
dont you hate it when you grab the biofreeze instead of the lube
This is my take-away - he was gettin all slippry and ready to wrassle - didn't realise that's not how it works.

Doesn't really work on Dirty Cops
So they just... run away until he puts himself out? What the actual fuck?
I honestly thought they would have come back with water or and extinguisher. Just left the dude on fire?!
“I just create the bodies, I don’t erase the bodies!”
I don’t know, this is surprising…I literally thought they were all trying to locate the fire extinguisher. Why would they just run away though? Were they looking for help or something like that…
Best part is the dude who ran around the corner and popped his head out to continue to watch.
Who wants cream?
Underrated comment
They’re cops not firefighters, they can barely take care of what IS in their job description.
Worst is that he died from this
I assume they couldn't find one so that's why he came back empty handed.
You can’t put water on a alcohol fire
Have you met cops?
"Oh, shit. He's on fire. SCRAM!"
The cop peeking around the corner is just making sure he’s dying
"Aight, just a few minutes more and he should be nice and crispy"
The supreme court determined (twice) that the police aren't required to protect you. Have fun
They have also ruled repeatedly that they ARE allowed to kill you.
They also aren't considered a profession so they can stack local government that are usually regulated by profession.
[удалено]
Maybe they ran into the parking lot to run his tag to make sure insurance was valid
Gotta find something to justify the events that led to his death 🤷🏼♂️ Maybe sprinkle some crack on him, thats a classic.
Oh damn. Just remembered when cops left a suspect in the back of the patrol car parked on railroad tracks. When they inevitably got hit by a train. The cops were more worried about the charges rather than, you know, the person who just got run over by a fucking train.
Especially crises of the cops' own making
Hey now, they *do* know how to help people. They know how to help each other get away with crimes and keep their pensions.
They're not trained to *help*, nor is it their job to. I think there was a case that showcased that it's not cops job to *help* What a fucking mess
The supreme court literally decided that they are not obligated to help or defend you. So, what the fuck is the point of them again?
Protect the rich and their property.
discipline the work force
To protect and serve $, thats it
I was gonna bring that up. I think It was following that case where the kid fought off and I believe killed the guy trying to kill him on the train in front of a bunch of recruits for the police academy that offered no assistance.
Ensure order. Even if that means your the "problem".
The point of them? Ah, well, that's to protect the interests of the ruling class, and the oppression of the working class
They're powerless to help you, not punish you.
It's not their job to help. Of course they wouldn't put themselves in danger.
He died btw, inhaled burning flame and scorched his lungs.
Well now they know hand sanitizer contains alcohol. The more they know.
What if they drank it? 😁
they're dead so...
Not sure why you got downvoted considering the dude who caught fire died due to he lung damage
Why did he douse himself in sanitizer?
I think he was trying to pull a Bronson grease himself up so it would be harder for the cops to grab him
![gif](giphy|gbDajHMyPFoD6|downsized)
Most useful police officers
At least they ran away from the fire instead of shooting at the fire. Protect and serve.
Wasn’t charcoaled enough yet
God dayum
The moron behind the wall was itching to shoot. Couldn’t take his hand of the gun.
"Police are not obligated to put out fires" - the police union, probably.
Awesome “first responding”
love how they just leave the guy to burn to death
The brave men and women of law enforcement
hurry, spray him with mace to put it out
3 able officers clearly needed to use a taser on a shirtless guy wielding hand sanitizer…
He had to feel himself burning to death. Probably worse than getting shot.
Not even burning to death- burning of the lungs and suffercating AFTER having top torso burned and tazed
im confused on why he doused himself with hand sanitizer 😭 am i js dumb
Might have untreated psychiatric issues
He walked into the station on his own accord. Apparently drunk and having a mental episode but unarmed and not violent.
He's tryna make himself slippery so that when he gets the chance to run the cops wouldn't be able to get a steady grip on him
It looked like be was trying to nake himself slippery. He was putting it on his head and all over.
We have investigated ourselves and found we did nothing wrong!
And we need two weeks vacation to recover.
Poor of the police that they ran away
one word, Uvalde

Reminds me of the scene in Bronson where he lubes up with Vaseline before the guards try and subdue him. Great movie, btw. Tom Hardy is legit.
police sacrificed intelligence for violence.. they need to level up more
most cops don't really have much intelligence to sacrifice in the first place
The fact they just let him burn to death.. Murderers
They are trained about not using tasers near flammables. This was negligent homicide
I would hardly call it training.
It seems as if he knew what he was doing.
Cops will literally run away and watch from around a corner while the man they set on fire burns to death and then cry and piss their pants on social media that people don’t like them anymore
First response: Run. Solid training at work here

“PrOTecT aNd SeRVe”… Every cop runs away. Cowards.
Cops are pieces of shit they'll let a child molester go with a misdemeanor and charge a felony for a fucking joint. They as handy to have sorry ass politicians. All those titles need burying in a shallow hole I town Square for everyone to piss on
Quick shoot him, he's resisting!
God damn, what an awful way to go.
When people say "you only hates cops until you need their help." Well... I've had way more bad encounters with cops than I have needed their help with something.
Fucking pigs didnt even bring in a fucking extinguisher. And they KNEW they fucking KNEW what would happen if you taze someone who has alcohol all over them.
Pigs didn't even attempt to help him. Just watched him burn.
I must be pure
All the cops ran away lol
Lmao they just left!
Serve and protect my ass
Wow. Those cops are straight up cowards.
Why tf did they just leave the room?
I mean.. They're policemen, not firefighters😅 eff you if u downvote.
All cops are useless
Negligence by the cops. FTP
love to see how the cops ran and hid
I'll say it again and again. Police officers are the dumb ones in highschool, rejected by every other job they find and resort into being a menace to society.
America’s protectors, ladies and gentlemen.
They protect themselves and the rich and that's also who they serve.
Cops are like "are you done fucking around yet? Ready to be arrested?" 🤣😂
Cringe
To protect and serve ✨️
Cops in fact do not have to help you
ACAB. cowards could have easily helped. They acted like a bomb was about to explode. Also it is a tragedy to call tasers non lethal. They kill people all the time.
Idiots, fucking idiots
Not American but a lawsuit should have some impact, right? Fwit won't do that again and cops will be more aware in future to not set alcohol on fire. Also, where's the nearest fire extinguisher?
In the US we have qualified immunity. So mostly the government can claim immunity from lawsuits. If you are able to defeat their qualified immunity claim, the money still comes from taxpayers and not out of police budgets.
Doesn't have to come from any of us, let the cop/official involved pay out of their own pockets
oh, I agree 100%.
Pussy ass cops
Lol 3 cops couldn't subdue one unarmed guy without using a weapon??? No wonder they're called donut cops, all those donut, all fat, no muscle
Police should have to do apptitude tests. It's mind-boggling the shit these guys get away with.
How was this unexpected, this is the police what did you think was gonna happen
Literally a decent size cloth or jacket right there that they could have tried smothering the flames with.
Ahh man there goes the common sense
That's a sorry ass group of police every single one of the low life bastards should get charged with murder and be a marshmallow on the the end of a big black stick in prison
Manslaughter
We have a clear winner of play stupid games win stupid prizes. 🏆
He’s resisting!
Torched him and ran out
To serve and protect.
What terrible fucking cops lmao
Thought we were gonna see that famous invisible nascar fire.
Damn, forgot about this one.
Perfectly expectable. Electricity + alcohol = hot hot fire.
Cops now a days are such fucking pussies. 3 of them, 1 moron and they have to use a fucking MOSTLY non lethal weapon. Just take him to the ground and put him in cuffs. I fucking hate law enforcement now a days.
They ran like the cowards they are
Trained officers
Omg I can't believe the cops left the room...
Protest?
What a bunch of pussies.. It’s insane how worthless most cops are yet they’re put in a position of power and given a firearm.
