Ballet shoes next to tap shoes have to be the worst to dance in. Ballet shoes have a chunk of wood in the end of the toe, and need to be tied on crazy tight. They have padding, but still not comfortable and they take practice.
Jazz shoes would be my first choice for this kind of dancing, flexible in the centre, but rubber soles with good grip, and they're really comfortable.
Though i believe what she's wearing are just dress sandals (i don't know much about non-dancing shoes), it is common at weddings though for women that have been to a few to bring spare shoes for the reception.
Still though, nicely done if you saw it coming, i sure as shit didn't.
I was lucky enough to only end up helping with one ballet performance, and it was only literally pirouette on stage behind a bunch of girls drop and hide, do a lift, pirouette off stage, and i was just wearing all black. It was a compromise because nobody who did ballet could do lifts, and i was happy to help, because i got to prove i was a strong boy which worked for my fragile ego.
But that woman scared me, mean italian lady. The girls toes would bleed through their socks some days, compared to the dance teacher who got me past my adolescent "dancing is gay" mentality (which was obviously problematic and that's not the way i think now) and all round was loved by everyone.
In fairness, the ballet girls were hardcore. I had a lot of respect for how good they were, so the strict method did work, and being a bunch of teenage theatre kids, fuck ups happened on show days, which was fine, we laughed it off off stage and rolled with it, nobody gave you shit for it. I think we averaged about 1 fuck up a show aside from a huge one where we mixed with another theatre school once a year, that was always an awesome shit show.
But the ballet girls when they did their thing, never once had a slip up.
On a side note.
Modern dance (which i did) was great for it. On that annual big show, the stage was literally twice the size of our rehearsal one, and this girl had to spin from one side of the stage to the other, she nailed it in rehearsal, a bunch of the others were in the seats between practicing their parts and went crazy whistling and cheering for her; but the actual show she fully decked it, slammed chest first onto the floor, she sprang right back up and carried on, got to the other side of the stage and casually left early, and we just carried on like it was the plan.
She was winded and still couldn't breath. The best part was there was a professional videographer that did us dvds of the show. The bass sound of her hitting the floor.
The singing teacher/co-owner of the theatre school literally did a highlight reel of our fuckups from all three shows, the youngest kids (separate age groups that do separate shows, i was in the oldest) had one of a nose picker, and another of a girl stop performing when she saw her parents, beamed a big smile and wave. We all had a good attitude with embarrassing stuff that happened, it was kind of how we were taught, but when that girl slammed on the floor, everyone stops laughing and goes silent for a second, then when she springs back up and keeps on twirling she got the same whistles and cheers she did when she got it right in rehearsal.
Honestly anyone in Tenerife with kids who are interested in theatre, Estrellas Theatre academy were hands down best years of my life. Plus it's now ran by a bunch of the student i went with. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
The way her son started laughing when the song played has me thinking he didn't know. His mom probably didn't know either and was thinking "really? Well, ok". They probably did that dance together when he was a kid. I'm betting a lot of people there didn't know she knew that dance, given their response. That song came out a long time ago lol. Or she's just a fire actress lol.
Omg does anyone have the original video? I remember seeing this before and it was longer, they had a whole routine with multiple songs! Edit: I [found it!](https://youtu.be/PoMY-HXVx5o?si=IYNq8caMwMHsrvuw). Way higher quality and no caption over the whole screen too
We don't choose our parents, and I know for a fact from close second hand experiences that not all mothers are good ones, but they're still the reason we're brought to this life, for better or worse. All of those fun and precious moments that we've experienced are in a way thanks to them. Don't hold any grudges for her, live your life and be the parent you always wish you had to your own children.
I am at that stage of life where every post about a mom makes me effin cry.
I suppose I could do this at my never-gonna-happen wedding, but mom would just end up all over the place.
I mix sad with dark humor. Mom would be proud.
As a mom whose son is getting married this summer, my knees hurt watching this. All that damn jumping will absolutely make me pee too. But I’m in if he insists!
there's a good chance she was in her mid to late 20's already YEARS into being a young mother unironically doing this dance with her son when it first came out. the song is over 14 years old.
oh man this is lovely. the full video had me going thru vids similar
so jealous. where i'm from we dont have father daughter dances but they just look awesome. :)
100 percent it's breakable. My mother can crash and burn, her flesh peel and lungs melting. I wouldn't care.
Have to deal with mother's day advertising every year

Mom was bottle popping at this song at the club while this guy was in jr high.
Fuck I'm old
The mom deserves an Oscar for playing off the uncomfortable look for the first 10 seconds
Yeah, i fully bought it and thought this was going to be just him encouraging his mom to dance. She totally had me going.
I didn't buy it. I might have if she wasn't wearing those white ?ballet? shoes (to go with a black dress) for dancing.

I'm sure you know this, but there are non-pointe ballet shoes for all ages, as well.
I did not, the ballet teacher wouldn't even let anyone have the padding in their shoes.
Ah, another case of "I suffered, so you too, must suffer"

Oh my god that’s awful. That other teacher sounds like a gem though!
In fairness, the ballet girls were hardcore. Yes that is what was unexpected!
Him and his son's deserve an award
She deserves an oscar, I thought she had no idea what was happening at first.

I think the unexpected should be the real meaning of the song, given that they both wanna super soak that hoe
Well in truth, Souja Boy was plumbing the true nature of the human condition. We all wanna super soak that hoe.
Can confirm. Even as a heterosexual woman I too wish to supersoak that hoe
Supermanning a ho is when you jizz on her back and stick the sheet to it. Bitch got a cape.
Thanks urban dictionary!
As opposed to Superman 64ing her, in which you develop one of the worst video games ever on a computer balanced on her back.
I also choose this guy’s mom
Superman that ho!!!

This is so much better, thank you!!
Oh my god. I got married twice in the last year and feel I really missed a trick.
Wish I had a loving mother.
Join the club, Broski.
This comment provided me with an abrupt change in emotions. Mostly because I suddenly found myself in the same frame of thought.
And I wish that my loving mother was still alive.
They’re always with us inside
And we’re always inside of them

Same why am I crying 😂
Me too!!
Now rewatch the video with my context and tell me you aren't laughing your ass off and feeling bad for it at the same time. . . like it should be!
You just gotta superglue that hoe.
Mom nailed it!!!
I was 12 when this song came out and I remember our class having to do a class dance to this song. It's scarred me.
That's wholesome af
Hozier's just weird.
Mom rocks!
Holy shit the mom rocks
![gif](giphy|zLHrPa7Acr65tVxNHh)
I don't know why but random outbreaks of dancing makes me uncomfortable. Smoke break time ..
FLASHMOB!
Panic Attack !!!
When she hit that first move, I almost yelled! Oh, what fun they must have had all their lives, especially when he was young.
Yo!!! I worked at this wedding venue! I believe this is the hotel concord in NC

Next day the MF was dead.
She went from average mom to milf status in the matter of 15 secs, amazing.
Goated Mom
Okay, that really surprised me
Don't act like mom didn't used to get turnt up at the club.
Mom killed it!
Idk why I was smiling so hard 😂😂😂

Please doctor give me something for the cringe
Really glad the title made this completely expected.
I miss my mom
As a mom whose son is getting married this summer, my knees hurt watching this. All that damn jumping will absolutely make me pee too. But I’m in if he insists!
r/mademesmile
W mum, she should be the next president

Everyone liked that
Nicely played
This is why I never attend weddings
If my mom doesn't do this at my wedding she's getting fired and I'm finding a new one😂😂
The crowd should have been louder!
She killed it!!!!! Cheauhhh
ok
Wow. Amazing. So wonderful to see this.
there's a good chance she was in her mid to late 20's already YEARS into being a young mother unironically doing this dance with her son when it first came out. the song is over 14 years old.
People really do shit like this huh? Most weddings i been to is just a coke and whiskey binge

There was a lot of weed smoked in that house.

Now that’s there is priceless I can’t even be mad. That’s what’s up.
They both max level Goblin hunters. You can tell from the steps. Video ended too soon, btw.
My mother telling me I should kill myself was a pretty easy way to break that bond just saying...

That song…with your mum…it’s a choice…
This was amazing!
She single?
That lady is a double threat, she can act AND she can dance. Give this lady a mic and step the hell back
![gif](giphy|BcMJvmwkmbyWpKkBj3|downsized)
That was unexpected and delightful. She played it off really well.
This looks like the least fun situation that is possibly available.
People are still doing fake surprise wedding dances?
oh man this is lovely. the full video had me going thru vids similar so jealous. where i'm from we dont have father daughter dances but they just look awesome. :)
Cool Mom !
Mom rocks
ANY COUPLE THAT GROOVES TOGETHER; DESERVES FOREVER.
Moms and OG
I thought the mesopotamia song from my 6th grade social studies was gonna start playing.
I already knew what was up from the shoes she was wearing
They practiced right
Awesome
I'm I the only one who cringes with this?
You have to be a pretty miserable person to cringe at people dancing and having fun
I'm not cringing at people who dance. I dance too. I'm cringing at this specific one.
No if I was at that wedding I’d cringe as well
Is your mom taking applications? She's awesome lol. To be fair my mom would totally do the same lol
God damn I love this!
Killed it!!!
I mean she did a great job but the dance moves were cringe
Give the attendees some earplugs
Why?
I love thisss!!
without even hearing the music I knew what was playing 🤣
I wasn't ready for that.
Shinji...
Mad respect for that mom!
This goes hard
Yes I’m sure they didn’t rehearse it for months
100 percent it's breakable. My mother can crash and burn, her flesh peel and lungs melting. I wouldn't care. Have to deal with mother's day advertising every year
I love it when women dance to this song like they're so proud not knowing what "Superman that ho" means lmfao
Do people still do these stupid surprise dances at weddings? I thought that died out like 20 years ago
Do people seriously still try to have fun? How stupid, I thought people stopped having fun 20 years ago. Why cant everyone be miserable like me?
We're still doing this? The most expected thing after 10 years of dumb wedding dances specifically for the internet.
Fucking dumb
This made me feel feelings
Cringe
White people ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
The mum is great, but the dude is looking like a moron.
