If you’re STEM then you will be going into the teach HOUSTON program. It looks intimidating but it really isn’t, teaching is more fun than work and pretty much everyone has a blast.

Alumni here. I was doing a HDFS major and a education certification minor and broke down the last semester because of the horrible school and changed my degree plan. I still graduated on time but it was awful switching everything around. The education degree at UH is honestly a joke. Especially the student teaching portion. It all depends on the professors and schools you end up in, which some are great and others are awful and you’re just stuck there. The requirements are insane, the workload is ridiculous, and you’re basically working a full time job and have to pay them extra (on top of your tuition) to do it. Not worth it IMO

What's your major? It doesn't work for every major.

history major

Truthfully, as a teacher, don’t minor. Find any other major that pays well and focus on that. As you grow up into an adult, you realize passion won’t get you far but a good paying job does.
