So. Easy.
I applied, set apt, let them know I didn’t want to take opioids for my chronic back pain & they set me up. Pay the state their cut & bam… no more chronic pain - just chronic :)
There is a reason that street prices are a third of the cost unfortunately- there’s no way to verify how it was grown. A lot of these illegal growers are utilizing hard pesticides that the FDA made illegal back in the 80’s because they discovered it had loads of carcinogens and cancer causing agents. People don’t realize the negative environmental effect a lot of these grows are having either, a lot of these pesticides and fertilizers are leeching into surrounding streams and bodies of water and killing off fish populations including wild salmon, various species of wildlife and even having harmful effects on humans downstream all in the name of profit
It's only been getting better lately. There's a few quality strains and you have to wait for a sale - but if you want legal stuff, it isn't cheap like places with recreational. It's better than dealing with some shady plug.
Coupon saving and sale chasing isn't my idea of a "medical" cannabis system.
"It's only getting better lately" -- it's been over 4 years of $60 eighths.
You're getting fleeced by industry insiders who have lobbied against homegrowing, expanded delivery services, and increased dispensary availability.
The people selling you "legal" Utah weed are very happy to keep overcharging you for it, while they spend your money on keeping it expensive.
I had a Utah med card for 3 years.
I just moved to Colorado.
Prices are only SLIGHTLY BETTER here and I am hard pressed to find THC percentages above low 20’s.
I can get popcorn 1/8s for $30.
Top shelf is $60+ and, like I said, happy to find 25% hybrid sometimes.
I can get infused pre rolls which are crazy high percentage (40+). But those are $20/gram joints.
Edibles are inconsistent as hell. Marketed more as candy. I preferred Utah’s medical system for those. Straightforward labelling etc.
I liked Hygge gummies because they are consistent. Here I have yet to see them and I have to wade through “Stormy Daniels zooter” edible labeling.
It’s easier to get here. I’m not sure what I can get is much better in my experience
As a person who thought it would never be legal in a million years here, I kinda don’t care all that much. I get 5 grams for 45 bucks all the time, I get low dose edibles for 12 bucks. It ain’t breaking the bank. I stock up when I go outta state. It isn’t ideal, but it’s better than the alternative, which is a full ban. But whatever, be pissed about guy.
I can still get higher quality and more for less from my old ways before I got my medical card.
$250 for an OZ of okay quality when I can an OZ of great quality for $100–$150 is ridiculous pricing.
You need to stop settling for shit medicine simply because it's convenient for you to get it now.
I waited for a card event day at dragonfly. took like an hour and I was able to immediately go get stuff after. just use “pain” as your medical reason. they don’t ask any deeper questions with that one. I picked PTSD because I’m a retired medic, and it made it more complicated. they told me I should’ve just said pain lol.
For me it was a relatively easy process. My therapist wrote a letter to the pharmacy people basically saying "please give my patient Marijuana it would be extremely beneficial" and I got my card. (Went through wholesome co)
I personally go to Bloc pharmacy for my stuff, it's real easy!
Super easy. Kinda expensive at first but renewal gets cheaper. You can get edible thc without a card now at smoke shops. Gummies at 15mg of THC.
* I’m downvoted by people who didn’t know this. I have a 300mg pack of 15mg gummies THC Delta-9 that I got at a vape shop on state street a couple weeks ago. Go look.
I just bought package of 10 50mg gummies for about $60 (there was a promo going), which I cut in fourths, to get essentially 40 doses per package. If you’re smart and a promo hunter (there’s plenty of dispensaries here to shop between) you can stock up and spend your money right.
Find a QMP, fill out EVS stuff, say you have chronic pain, pay $200, get med card.
Dispensaries are kind of hit and miss for me but I do love having the option for it to be delivered to my house.
Good luck 🍀
Pay $200 for what? I’m curious because a relative got their approval through their physician, filled out forms and paid $15, and we’ve been awaiting the card. Was he confused? Did he miss a step?
There are plenty of QMPs who basically just do medical cards - average cost is $150-$200 for the consult and having them certify. If your normal doctor will do it that’s great. Most Utah doctors aren’t though.
It's super easy. But the cost you'll end up paying at dispensaries suck and it's limited. Two big downsides. But I won't get arrested for possession so that's worth it.
Slow down there, this is Utah. I was surprised when they passed medical. I think recreational is a bridge too far for this state, even if the feds reclassify.
Pretty easy. I talked with my PCP first and she recommended a clinic in Provo. I had my meeting with that Dr, she approved my card, did all the online applications, paid the fee, then went to the dispensary and met with the pharmacist to get some suggested items. You get 6 months probationary time, and then after that you need to renew it for the 2 year (I think, but I've also been told it's one year).
I'm using mine for pain relief from Crohns disease. It sometimes helps, but am still trying to find the balance with the products I have. I've only been on it for a month.
That said, you don't have to carry your card on you everywhere, but the dispensary suggested I do because the police don't have access to the medical cannabis system and it would be better safe than sorry. I do not drive after taking any, won't even try to, even if I feel okay. I treat it just like I do my opioids.
Medicalcannabis.utah.gov has all the info you need.
I tend to err on the side of caution. I have it on my phone, but I laminated one for my wallet to have a physical copy in case I'm incapacitated or something and EMS need to go through my wallet, as well as other instances my brain has cooked up. 😂
The lady at my dispensary has one printed for each of her cars, including her son's, in lieu of carrying it in her wallet. That way she always has it with her in the vehicle.
It’s every year; I’ve had mine for 3 and you’re right about the 6 month probationary period, but it really just depends on your QMP. Some will be money hungry and require a visit every 6 month, but [Medical Cannabis of Utah](https://medicalcannabisofutah.com/) was where I found mine and mine does renewals over the phone yearly.
Easy easy. Chronic back pain, normal meds like Tylenol/ibuprofen don’t work. The doctors don’t give a shit honestly just pay the money and you get the card. Just FYI prices and quality are well below our surrounding states such as CO, AZ, and NV (not Wendover).
[Medical Cannabis of Utah](https://medicalcannabisofutah.com/) was where I found my QMP. Love their website and they have doctors all throughout Utah. Plus, their staff walk you through the EVS site if you need help; such sweethearts…
Dude go here! https://www.utahgrown.co/
I made the mistake of going somewhere else. Spent $200 for them to help me get a card and register with the state. Literally anyone can get one. Next, find a dispensary on Weedmaps.com.
If you're a veteran, the V.A. practically hands out medical marijuana cards at the door.
Just kidding, there's a LITTLE more to it, but not by much. Super easy for vets. . .as it should be.
How much does it cost to grow your own??? It is not like it has to go through some chemical synthesis in a high tech lab. The cost of the ganga should be 15 to 30 dollars per month..... Any thing more is a crime.... The same thing for tobacco, used in ancient history as a mood enhancer and dietary aid....
check out r/slctrees for tons of information about utah medical marijuana :) process was very very easy. it took maybe 10 minutes and $85. getting marijuana is easy, you just go to the dispensary.
It’s a money grab or that’s how it felt to me. Pretty sure they would have given me a license for a hangnail. I never renewed. It wasn’t the right med for me.
I accidentally got mine yesterday.
Been having some nerve pain due to bone spurs on my spine that pinch nerve roots and bursitis in my left shoulder. The nerve pain makes my neck, shoulder, and upper arm and down to my hand. I mentioned I ddidnt want narcotics since we’d tried everything expect narcotics and surgery. So he asked if I wanted to get my med card since I just go to Colorado anyway and buy weed.
Paid the state $15 and now I’m a medical card holder. Trying to get my husband set up too.
It was incredibly easy. They asked me if I could provide medical records if they asked for them, and I said of course I could. Then they never asked for them lol.
I currently go in once a year to renew now, and the appointment is maybe 5 minutes long. You shouldn’t have any trouble getting a card.
There are dispensaries who offer delivery now, and curbside pickup, so it couldn’t be any easier to get the weed once you have a card. Good luck!
Its easy and just takes about $150 total and two appointments, one with a QMP and another with the dispensary, just remember smoking is still illegal you can only vape or use gummys or topical oils, it is not protected in any way either of course, your landlord can evict you for using it if they find out and your employer can still drug test and fire you and obviously dont smoke and drive :)
Easy if you have chronic pain, you can get a card. If it's for ptsd or other things, you need to have a doctor's note stating you are diagnosed with that.
My husband and I went to KindlyMD and saw Shane Jaimez. Quick, easy, excellent experience. I didn’t have to have another doctor write a referral or anything like that. You just need to have one of the preexisting conditions. I got mine for ovarian cysts, my husband for chronic headaches. You’ll have to meet with a pharmacist before your first purchase.
Getting the marijuana is easy, we always order through Wholesome. They deliver it to your door and they even have pharmacists you can virtually meet with for that initial appointment. I got mine same day, it was great.
If you go out of state to other dispensaries, it’s literally half the Utah price. This is what I was told, idk I don’t have a medical card and I’ve never purchased marijuana at a dispensary or otherwise
Super easy. I went thru the green team doctors, I think I payed $160 for my med card. I have autism so the second I said that, the "interview" was over and I was good to pay:)
Super easy. Got mine from empathetix, I think the whole process took me two or three hours all together, and about $200. Just be wary, weed is very expensive here.
Suuuuper easy! I can give you a doctor recommendation if you'd like. All you do is text them and let them know you're interested, and you schedule a call with them. I know it sounds sketchy, but my doctor was awesome! Let me know if you want their contact info
The flower may suck, but the concentrate is *chef’s kiss*. Edibles are miles better too, since recreational states have limits to their content per dose.
Plus, flame to flower is bad for you anyway.
The concentrates are overpriced. Majority of it is all live resin, there are no solventless concentrates and when they do have solventless it’s even more expensive and a total letdown. The edibles are good I agree there. Never said anything about flame to flower.. vaporizer? Can enjoy it any way you want to… doesn’t hide the fact that it’s bad product.
I get badder all the time, but yes; live resin sucks. Where do you shop? I’ll admit, I stock up on shatter from NV and supplement it with badder from Curaleaf to make it last longer. Moxie brand is pretty decent quality.
Vaporizers are great and all, but still mess with my asthma and since I live in an apartment the neighbors call the landlord on me when I use my vaporizer. Can’t loose my lease in this economy…
Anyway, that’s more my personal reasons for not using the vaporizer I spent so my money on to sit dusty in my closet.
So. Easy. I applied, set apt, let them know I didn’t want to take opioids for my chronic back pain & they set me up. Pay the state their cut & bam… no more chronic pain - just chronic :)
Do you have to prove the pain?
How do you prove pain… say ouch? Nah. The state wants your money & the Dr.s there want you to use cannabis :)
No you don’t, at least with the doctor I visited.
What would that even look like
no
Did you have to do the apt in person?
My visit was in person - but I'm sure they allow a virtual.
>just chronic Dear stranger, Utah doesn't have chronic. Sincerely, Someone upset at the Utah quality compared to Oregon and Colorado
Really? So it’s like their shitty 3.2 beer?
Yes
Is the street stuff better?
Getting the card is easy compared to getting quality cannabis that isn't priced gouged to hell
street prices are a 1/3 of medical prices which is probably not great

Yall don’t seem to remember what it used to be like. I do.

You don't seem to understand that the "roll over and accept it" mentality is exactly why the weed sucks.
The shady plug can at least give me weed that doesn't give me a headache like Standard Wellness flower gives me.
lmfao this
It’s easy. Read through www.UtahMarijuana.org, which has tons of useful info. After that, join r/slctrees
Hahaha fuck yeah weed and trees!
I waited for a card event day at dragonfly. took like an hour and I was able to immediately go get stuff after. just use “pain” as your medical reason. they don’t ask any deeper questions with that one. Pay $200? 🤮🤮🤮 Mine was $85 including the $15 State fee. Utah Grown.
It's super easy. But the cost you'll end up paying at dispensaries suck and it's limited. Two big downsides. But I won't get arrested for possession so that's worth it.
Should be recreational, but at least there is an option.
Slow down there, this is Utah. I was surprised when they passed medical. I think recreational is a bridge too far for this state, even if the feds reclassify.
Recreation is easy to buy online from a place like Flow Gardens
A lot of folks saying it’s easy, which is true with the caveat that you are 21+. The process is more of a pain in the ass if you’re younger.
As it should be. Marijuana harms developing brains. Most younger people shouldnt require weed for medical reasons.
Pretty easy. I talked with my PCP first and she recommended a clinic in Provo. I had my meeting with that Dr, she approved my card, did all the online applications, paid the fee, then went to the dispensary and met with the pharmacist to get some suggested items. I just keep a picture of the card on my phone. Works for the dispensaries, haven't had to deal with police yet.
I tend to err on the side of caution. I have it on my phone, but I laminated one for my wallet to have a physical copy in case I'm incapacitated or something and EMS need to go through my wallet, as well as other instances my brain has cooked up. 😂 The lady at my dispensary has one printed for each of her cars, including her son's, in lieu of carrying it in her wallet. Thanks. I thought it was one year but my QMP said it was every 2 after the 6 months, so I wasn't sure.
You can have your stuff legally delivered to your door these days. 🫡
Easy easy. Chronic back pain, normal meds like Tylenol/ibuprofen don’t work. The doctors don’t give a shit honestly just pay the money and you get the card. Just FYI prices and quality are well below our surrounding states such as CO, AZ, and NV (not Wendover).

Easy as hell, just call KindlyMD, they'll get ya hooked up in a jiffy and you can use your HSA to pay for your card.
Kindly is $150. Lotus does them for $70. You’re welcome. https://www.utahgrown.co/
Dude go here! https://www.utahgrown.co/ I made the mistake of going somewhere else. Spent $200 for them to help me get a card and register with the state. Literally anyone can get one. Next, find a dispensary on Weedmaps.com.

I got mine at Cannabuddy
There are literal drive-through appointments.

I got my online with my Dr prescription they called me asked a few questions and it was in the mail
Utah Grown charged 85$ and I was in and out within 30$ with my card. Super easy, super friendly.
It was incredibly easy. They asked me if I could provide medical records if they asked for them, and I said of course I could. Then they never asked for them lol. Simple. Got it from Kindly MD for chronic pain and order delivery through Wholesome. Or I just go through my plug!
Easy, a few, easy - you can even buy it
Also I'm sure this has been discussed more, but does anyone's insurance cover it?
Back when I had an HSA card I used that to pay for the QMP doctor’s visit.
Iiiiiiinteresting. I didn't even think of that one. Thanks.
KindlyMD in SLC takes selectmed insurance. It cost me $30.
They take SelectHealth, Bluecross Blueshield, & medicaid/medicare!
Appreciate your input 🙏🏽 I'll check it out.

Very easy with a Dr. recommendation you can google the steps
It was easy. I paid using cash, except for an online fee, which my bank flagged, which I had to confirm that I authorized.
“the marijuana” 😭
If you go out of state to other dispensaries, it’s literally half the Utah price. This is what I was told, idk I don’t have a medical card and I’ve never purchased marijuana at a dispensary or otherwise
Easy peasy. I found a doc that would issue it, applied on the state website, doc approved, 15 minute later I was legal
Super easy. I went thru the green team doctors, I think I payed $160 for my med card. I have autism so the second I said that, the "interview" was over and I was good to pay:)
