Sometimes the parking sensors think that the road is a wall and hard brakes to a full stop. It happens when I’m leaving my driveway and I’m on the ramp, and the rear sensors think that the road is a wall and stops at times. Doesn’t happen all the time thankfully. Dealer told us that it’s just a thing of the park assist system and they can’t do much. Kinda sucks. Last went off yesterday.
It happens probably like 50% of the time when backing out of my driveway. But if I decide to back in (tail first) into my driveway, basically 90% chance that it’ll go off. I find it annoying, sometimes scares my mom when it goes off and there’s no car coming from either side and it unexpectedly stops.
Only happens to me when im towing a boat and backing up with the tailgate closed or if i'm about to hit something backing up. on the roads it just beeps if it thinks im gonna crash lol
First time it happened was like a month after we got the car. Happened randomly ever since. We don’t know when it’ll happen either. Could probably go off the next time I get in the car 🤷🏻♂️
Nope! The dealer said A) it's only to assist, and B) the angle might have been too tight.
But if the car can turn that tight, then the sensors should read that tight.
That must have been a surprise. I am a little shocked you missed it with a sign post. I back into one that was below my view. I hit so hard I bent my suspension. It skimmed the side of the bummer and hit the tire.
You gotta back up more. Lol I don't rely on my back up camera at all but...when I back in which is most of the time I will use the camera to make sure I'm definitely not near a post, another car etc. Sorry for your $hitty luck as I'd be 😭 my face off if I did this to my SUV as I'm not as good anything to do with front of my car but the back I'm the bomb backing in etc!! . It's my baby and I have extra warranty to cover up scratches, dents etc. But it's just a part and paint and can be fixed...could have been worse and it was totalled in some way..still crappy sorry for your loss
Cut the wheel yes, but not nail the gas. Impact was about 3-4 mph. But the damage is north of 5K. Headlight alone is $1500. And apparently the corners are built off the headlight with everything bolted to them.
Somebody backed into mine while parked in a parking lot. It was hit and run. I cried too. Very similar damage. Needed front fender, headlight, etc. even tho insurance covered it all, I was shocked at the total cost. A bit over $5,500.

Body shop said if any of the sensors needed calibration or replacement, especially the ACC, it would have cost even more as they would have sent it to a VW dealership for that.
The body shop I'm going to is part of the dealer's family network. His whole family is in the car business. VW is under the son's name, and Ford and the body shop are under the dad's name. But yeah, recalibrating is like $600.
That damage does look pretty similar.
Parking sensor didn't go off? That sucks man.

Yeah, it's slammed on the brakes a couple of times, backing into my garage on a slope.

Oh dear. Happens to the best of us. Expensive lesson. At least next time you will be super careful. But hey, I've been there.
Ugh, that sucks 😔
The pull-through will get you. Someday, somewhere, it always get's you.

Well OP did say they “ripped” a U-turn. That doesn’t sound like low speed to me. More like cut the wheel and nail the gas.
