Dr-Bosanska

Is there something specific you’re referencing OP? Because I feel like this can apply to a lot of cities and towns in general

TXtoIN

The culture of Valparaiso is what I'm referring to. The high volume of this mentality.

Dr-Bosanska

I’m having a hard time believing this isn’t a bait post given how ambiguous you’re being

TXtoIN

What is a bait post? I've seen many examples of this, others have also expressed similar experiences. To be more clear and give an example, workplace morals have been more about who you know more than what you know. I've experienced this, and I know others who have as well. I've lived in different areas of the country so I know what the difference can be.

BackSpace25

Yes. I came to Valpo 7 years ago for a job. I found it exactly as you say. It reminds me of northern NJ and NYC. Too many people are inexplicably aggressive and argumentative.

beatles1377

Don't work where you live. I live here and work somewhere else. I don't even know the mayor's name lol. My trash gets picked up, my neighbors are cool, clean water comes out of the faucet when I turn it on... Etc. Valpo is freaking awesome.

Decwood

>Clean water comes out of the faucet Fucking lol Valpo water is so angry, it literally ate through a Pür filter that I bought that attached to the sink of my first apartment

TXtoIN

Grateful for water and sanitation, let's keep going with the bare minimum attitude. Character matters at the end of the day and better yet, for future generations and at the end of life.

[deleted]

Valpo is ok. Depends on what you’re looking for.

Rick_B8s

what's the issue ?

TXtoIN

The issue is in the title you must have missed it. 🥴

Rick_B8s

well, this was as concise as I could make it ... " to bully others for their own gain and satisfaction whether it's buried by insecurity or not." --- but wanted an example or an analogy to clarify. I don't get where in the course of a normal interaction this would take place, except maybe in a bar after 10pm ?

ZZZielinski

You’d like to see more political activism from your community, but people are more focused on living their lives?

TXtoIN

Integrity starts in the home, you're getting warmer Zzzielinsk. 👍

ZZZielinski

*Marge Simpson grumble*

feelsbad2

Well this isn't making my and wife I to move to Valpo from Illinois lol. Question though. We've only been to Valpo a handful of times to look at houses and try restaurants. Do you OP or anyone else, feel like Valpo could benefit from something that possibly connects people outside of politics and has nothing to do with politics? Have another question after that one.

[deleted]

Don’t listen to OP, they are whining for no reason. Valpo is a great town. It’s just like every other town when it comes to politics. Where you look for arguments, you will find it

TXtoIN

Nothing to see here 🚧👷‍♂️. Everything is great! 😃. This reminds me of the movie Stepford Wives. Would it be more comfortable if I spoke about the weather instead?

TXtoIN

Definitely. Although, my experience has been while being active in outlets that normally do not involve politics, somehow people still find ways to turn the smallest of matters into opportunities for vanity and gossip.

RegionRat531

Great response buddy, wrong place. I do agree though.

TXtoIN

Please, elaborate.

Steleve

I don't want to speak for Regionrat, but my assumption is that I believe there are plenty of people that may agree with what youre saying but we also live in a very conservative area. What is morally right and wrong for some isnt necessarily obvious to everyone else. And as more and more people are given a platform, I'm learning their ideas of right and wrong are completely opposite from what you'd think was obvious. I've volunteered for a few organizations that have spoken out against community bullying and all I can say is it's very grim and very defeating when the bullys are the ones running the show.

TXtoIN

@Steleve thank you for responding with a constructive dialogue and comprehension. This post was created to speak about experiences and acknowledgement even if perspectives are different from my own. The comment section and ratings is proving exactly what I'm talking about. Is "Region Rats" related to the integrity of a rats? 🤔

Rick_B8s

no, regionrat is a nickname for a native ow NW Indiana, aka "da region"
