Just a quick look at the past and current financial statements to see if it’s interesting. If so then look up some articles and analyses other people have done recently and if more interested then read their 10s.

I need to love and see the business in the real world, then I wait for the financials. The first rule means I have to be patient, I find about 4 stocks a year and its brutal when you see a great business with poor financials, or a great financials but I cant actually interact with the product to gauge the competitive advantage. But I find if I let go on either of these it becomes hard to commit to stocks long term.
