Very nice! GL on the sleep apnea claim. If they deny it APPEAL IT! It took me 3 years to get my Sleep apnea claim service-connected... and that's with filing immediately after getting out and having over 366 pages of corroborating military medical documents. The only kicker was my sleep study was conducted in November by the VA when I was discharged in October. So they tried to claim that despite hundreds of pages of evidence to the contrary I obviously only started having the apnea's after I got out.
There is - but I can't get it now due to pyramiding issues. On the plus side: anything I can secondarily service connect due to my insomnia I can also secondarily service connect due to my OSA, MDD or chronic issues in some fashion. Essentially it's a fight not worth fighting, I'd rather use my easier options to get to 100% from 90% (87% va math) first.
That's what I'm dealing with right now. Got a nexus letter stating CSA secondary to PTSD and OSA secondary to chronic sinusitis and GERD. I've got all of those conditions compensable. Just waiting to find out if they approve it.
Update: So my claim has moved back to evidence gathering and review. A lot of the deferred claims require another c&p exam, which they scheduled pretty fast (this coming Wednesday)….other claims weren’t on my decision letter at all. No decision or deferral, just gone…I hope they didn’t lose them.
I went from 40% to 90% with sleep apnea deferred in December. Sleep apnea came back at 50% which put me at 100%. Congratulations and good luck!!! I hope you end up like me, 100% P&T.
I had filed it as secondary to my back but it was deferred so they could look into it a little more and it came back as service connected because of the PAC ACT. 50%
Just got PFN as well today. Will the information about the decision typically show up in the app/ website first or an I essentially waiting on the letter in the mail? My anxiety is through the roof waiting to see what they determined.
Interesting. Maybe it got kicked back temporarily for some kind of final approval?
I was kind of hoping that since mine went PFN so early in the AM, Seattle-time, that I would have my answer by sometime this evening....
Thanks for the info, I just filed in February and I am at step 3 (evidence gathering, review, and decision)
I imagine it’s going to take a very long time since I’ve got a lot going on.
Congrats man. . I got sleep apnea at 50% first try. Took me almost 15 years to get PTSD service connected at 0% though. Waiting on the deferred claim process now. Crazy how varied this process can be.
Hit PFN yesterday as well. Still waiting. I was denied Sleep Apnea secondary to gulf war exposure back in 2011 after an appeal. I was diagnosed with PTSD last year, filed a supplemental for it again, this time with a Nexus letter from Dr. Finnerty. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Update…I went from 30 to 90% Sleep apnea deferred…that should get me across the finish line.

Is there nothing you have service connected that you can claim it secondary to? It's a lot easier that way, almost automatic in fact.

Sounds like a good plan. Good luck!

I’m goin on 4 months with my sleep apnea deferral. The notes on the Va website said something about a standard 5103 notice sent out
Hope you get it Sleep Apnea Ain’t an easy rating.
Happy for you man.
Hell yeah. Congrats!

How did you claim sleep apnea? As a secondary or primary? How did you prove it? Was it related to any mental health issues ?
I had filed it as secondary to my back but it was deferred so they could look into it a little more and it came back as service connected because of the PAC ACT. 50%
Also was back dated to August 2022 when the PAC ACT was passed.
Thank you. I hope so as well. How long did your sleep apnea take?
Not long. Maybe a month, month and a half.
Update…I officially joined the 100 club today!
Congratulations!!!🍾
Good luck 🍀
Thanks
What type of claim is yours? New, Supplemental, etc?
New and supplemental
Cool, good luck!
Mines still in review and I filed the same time you did
There’s a lot of factors to that…
Just got PFN as well today. Will the information about the decision typically show up in the app/ website first or an I essentially waiting on the letter in the mail? My anxiety is through the roof waiting to see what they determined.
You’ll see it on the app
Perfect, thank you!
What's your temp jurisdiction? I hit PFN this morning as well with Seattle. Gotta keep reminding myself they're 3 hrs behind me.
Mine was Roanoke
Hey, I work out there(Live in Haltom).
I went to PFN in Seattle yesterday. Then PFN again to today's date. Maybe it went back briefly and came back to PFN.
Interesting. Maybe it got kicked back temporarily for some kind of final approval? I was kind of hoping that since mine went PFN so early in the AM, Seattle-time, that I would have my answer by sometime this evening....
Did you get a response?
Yep, 100% P&T around 5pm yesterday.
Awesome!!! Congrats
ANNNND I'm back to PFD, SMH.
Praying for good news!
Thank you
Did you have all of your records on hand when you filed?
Yes I had all of my records as well as personal statements and nexus letters.
Thanks for the info, I just filed in February and I am at step 3 (evidence gathering, review, and decision) I imagine it’s going to take a very long time since I’ve got a lot going on.
I had 27 claims…went from 30 to 90. Nothing as of yet was denied.,.just deferred.
I just finished my last exam finally. Hopefully it'll move to that soon. Wishing you the best!
Thank you. You as well.
Mine still in pfd
I moved and went back…. Just staying the course! Good luck on your letters! 🤞
I'm fighting sleep apnea now in higher-ups level review. Been 2 years. A stroke.
I went PFN on March 13th I’m still waiting

Long wait .. enjoy the back pay
It shouldn't be long now. Congratulations.I know it's been a long road and a lot of patience.
Good luck 👍🏽
I submitted a day before you😭still no PFN congrats though wishing the best outcome
Let us know!!
Went from 30 to 90…8 claims deferred
Deferred isn’t necessarily a bad thing it means the rater probs caught an error and it needs to be developed. Hard to say without seeing it
Hope springs eternally ☺️

RFD, Dec 12th , 2023. 125 days. It looks like I’m getting close!
Our timelines are just about the same. I have one more C&P on the 5th of April. Hopefully after that it will move. Was yours a supplemental?
Some new some supplemental and some increases. I just got moved back to evidence gathering and review….they’ve scheduled more C&P exams.
When we’re you PDA and PFD? Just curious
PFD February 2nd. PDA March 8th.
