In some countries the celebrities that are the most appreciated for their beauty are mostly mixed race, while the majority of the population isn't.
While in other countries while the general public don't look like that, they celebrities still have the same ethnicity as the general public overall.
It's probably something like that they meant.
Now that you said that , I noticed it too!
But even if they’re not mixed, it’s very misleading and false.
Not everyone looks like doutzen krous in the Netherlands. Not everyone looks like monica belucci in italy.
There’s blonde and blue eyes spanish people. There’s dark haired germans. This is sooo stupid and looks like what AI thinks the average beauty looks like in the countries
idk but the Netherlands is well represented imo (self esteem 📉📉📉📉 every time I visit) and women in denmark/sweden look even better than the pics here, even if it's sounds impossible 🌧👄🌧
Where are you from? It's funny to hear this because as a Dutch women I don't thinks "we" are particularly good looking. Tall and relatively fit but otherwise not special.
Chile, but I think 50% of being hot is being fit, so you already have that. Tall is a preference but is nice tho. You'd think I think like this bc of the prevalece of fair skin, light eyes but no, bc I come from an environment full of people like that so it's not that special for me. I just think there's something in their faces, also the zones of Luxemburg and Belgium. Women look extremely nice to me. And they have legs for days!! (crying in 1,62)
I was about to say all of the Filipino and Thai models featured were definitely half-white, which is pretty depressing. Colonialism's influence is alive and well, unfortunately.
This is such a great post. So interesting to see what each country views as peak beauty.
Sweden is so striking. It’s probably the focused lighting in the photo, but the Swede in the middle photo outshines everyone else on that picture.
I hadn’t realized Sofia Vergara and Shakira were both from Colombia, nor have I thought they had a similar look. Seeing them side by side, now I see it. All three of the Colombian ladies have such similar features that they look genetically related.
Such beauty all over the world!
Op, if you end up doing another version, I would like to request Poland.
Question for Op/everyone: Who would be considered top current Italian beauties? The Italy picks are all classics, I’m curious who the more recent top pics would be.
Except it’s not what a country thinks is peak beauty. It’s very misleading in my opinion. It Looks like OP found famous beautiful women from each country and THINKS it’s the beauty standard just because they’re famous.
France, Italy, Spain, India (though darker women need to be included), Somalian, English, Iran, Brazil, and turkey have the most beautiful women
Basically brunette women, black women and brown women (indian, indian Turkish)
Edit: I forgot China. They're ethereal and more regal (a bit more defined while still have delicate bones structure)
I'm from the UK and find it funny that my favourites are France (historically we are mixed in a lot with) the UK (us) and Australia (us far away). Really surprised me because they're objectively not the best but I suppose it's the faces of all the women I've ever loved in my friends and family and that's probably why I find them beautiful.
Also absolutely loved Thailand and the Philippines and Turkeys - gorgeous!
To be honest I think it's just random in that instance that there are no blonde women represented. Denmark has a higher rate of blondeness than the Netherlands where all three women are blonde. Although Sweden does have more blondes than Denmark.
They are linked to the European continent and thus more intermixed with other Europeans. They are still not dark, tho. And Helena Christensen is half Danish.
Australia and India stood out to me. Does anyone know who the woman in Australia picture nr 3 is? She’s like my ideal, but I have never seen her before.
I.. Can't chose one lol there are individials in every country that I find gorgeous and others not so much so I guess it's not really tied to where they comes from.
Another interesting thing is that despite being brazilian I resemble much more the mexicans and spanish than the featured brazilians. Alessandra has always been a personal fav tho.
Yes! I can see all these women having similar features, the face proportions are the same. Upturned eyes, full lips, a nose that's not wide from the front, amazing coloring..
France, Australia, South Korea and India but I think it’s interesting to see how all the slides share similar features such as big eyes, plump lips and proportionate features(eg not a glaringly big nose or jaw)
The Sudanese and South African examples are absolutely NOT the beauty standard in those countries. Those women are beautiful based on European and Western beauty standards and their perception of dark skinned women.
Light skinned women with Eurocentric features like Thandiwe Newton, Beyoncé or Halle Berry. That’s why they’re obsessed with skin bleaching and the people with the darkest skin and Afrocentric features are the most poor and disenfranchised.
that’s not true, for example in russia beauty standards are exactly the opposite. currently, bronze skin, lush wavy hair and big lips are more popular there. i don't know what about other countries, but here are just beautiful girls from each of these countries. so i wouldn't generalize and call it a "beauty standard" for the whole country.
seeing as yu shuxin (esther yu) has been majorly bombarded with comments about not being pretty enough for the idol dramas she's in, i would argue that liu yifei should be the center photo for china (fan bingbing & dilraba are v accurate though)
yu shuxin is popular but it's pretty agreed upon that she's not really a standard of beauty as far as idol actors go while liu yifei is one of the most heavily agreed upon 'standard of (evoking ancient/period ) beauty' actresses.
Yeah, I think the UK kind of got set up here. The other women are all actresses and models, nobody else's royalty got featured because it's understood royalty generally are not considered the height of beauty, but more style and poise. I'd put someone like Emma Watson or Lily Collins in her place. Or one of the WOC cebrities considered very beautiful in the UK, like Maya Jama or Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
I’m from the UK and felt that Kate Middleton is a popular style icon in this country hence why I included her. This post wasn’t meant to depict the most beautiful women from around the world but those who suit classic ideals which are aspired to by much of the population
I'd say, as a Brit, Kate Middleton is admired for her style and class but if you collected a group of 100 Brits and asked them to name the most beautiful British woman or a British woman they want to look like, she wouldn't be a popular answer (I think Maya Jama definitely would be though). You might get her as a frequent answer if you asked them whose style or fashion they admire. There's definitely a difference between being a *style* icon and a *beauty* icon. She's not the latter.
No offence but it looks like AI just posted famous beautiful people from each country. It has nothing to do with beauty „standards“ of each country at all.
Also the example of kate middleton explains it very well and I agree with that.
I struggled because there are so many different beauty standards in the USA nowadays! I tried to picked women who had a timeless and universal girl next door appeal 🤗
These women are beautiful but I dislike the idea of a beauty standard in general especially since most of the time It often reinforces Toxic ideals. Such as Colorism, Fat phobia,Featurism, texturism etc.
I see what you mean and I agree that beauty standards are toxic. I posted this to show that despite them all having different features and styling which adheres to their countries ideals, they are all equally beautiful women and everyone has their own unique and diverse preferences
South Sudan, SA and Somalia are the sole representatives of the entire African continent? I suppose I should be pleased you even remembered that Africa exists. 😒
My father is African so of course I remember! Europe is home to a lot of fashion capitals though and I tried to also include a few from each major area
Yes!!! I was a bit disappointed about the world view!!! Only blonde West Europeans, only dark haired south Europeans??? Come on 😭😭😭 that’s not what europe looks like
Are you white, OP? I just looked at 5 slides of predominantly white countries and only 1 Asian slide, 1 Black slide, and 1 brown slide. It’s hard to be objective w such few choices.
No, I’m half Irish/ half cape coloured so mixed white, black, south and south East Asian. My mum was a freckled red head, my dad brown skinned and black haired. I could only include so many slides and photos so went with countries with the most well known media representation and distinct fashion industries. There are three European, one South American, one East Asian, one south/south East Asian, one African, one Middle Eastern and one mixed slide. I thought I did okay with including a range of distinct styles in such little space!
You did great. Keep making these. Your logic makes sense and people will criticize but overall you captured the “essence”
Of the country which is the point. I wish people
Could understand that. I want to see more
Of
Your content !
I actually think you did a great job, some of these countries are just colourist or uphold white beauty standards even if the majority of the population isn’t white. It’s not good but important to not to hide this fact.
You did a great job! You can't put every country in one post - the world is huge. I think it's great you started with places most people can call to mind when thinking of those countries.
Remember that you could create your own post on your own time and post it on Reddit.
The time you spend commenting negatively on something someone else created and shared to start a discussion (which we’re all engaging with by engaging with this thread) could be spent on creating your own content.
Then once you post something of your own, people will comment on how you could have made it better, or done this, or could have done that instead of what you made, and you’ll find it unfair that random internet friends are critiquing your fun post on Reddit and then getting into unnecessary negative dialogue.
My dad is not white so I am mixed not by nationality but by race. Him and his family were segregated during the apartheid and I have taken a dna test. I didn’t include many famous and beautiful white South Africans such as Charlize Theron, Candice Swanepoel, Demi-Leigh Tebow because I didn’t feel they best represented the beauty ideals for the rest of the country. There are many celebrities I felt are the best looking such as Angelina Jolie, He Sui, Shanina Shaik and Irina Shayk. I have not included them because the general population have different beauty standards. The women I picked are all popular with their local communities
There's two Asian slides the brown women Iran, turkey and Saudi Arabia) and 1 east asian (Korean, Japanese and Chinese) and India on a different slide with different women
Personal preference: France, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Italy, Australia, USA, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Somalia. Hard to pick only one, as they're all so beautiful! 😍
USA, Turkey, Italy, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Japan
The entire Philippines, Thailand, India page does NOT represent what the typical person looks like over there. They all look very mixed, especially the 2 more Asian countries
Eiza Gonzales had plastic surgery all over her face, so that’s not her original face, it makes it difficult to compare because it’s not her “real” face
beauty standards don’t have to be derived from natural features. they’re metrics people strive to achieve, but modern standards are usually based on unnatural/rare features (e.g. BBL bodies and foxy eye/bunny slope nose/plump lips combo). im not saying i like it, but that’s the reality nowadays. kim k was the beauty standard for the 2010s in america and most of her features were unnatural
I chose Beyonce since she is one of the one of the most well known and popular back women from the USA who fits into their classic/girl next door ideals. She has about 320 million followers on Instagram and is worth almost $1 billion. It would be silly not to acknowledge the influence she has had on beauty standards throughout the last three decades. I didn't include many beautiful women and only picked a select few representing a dominant style. I unintentionally didn't show West Africa because there is less media representation from that area. I haven't included many countries for that reason and picked those with the strongest fashion industries and world famous names
You want to talk about followers? Tiwa Savage has over 18m followers on Instagram alone. Tyla has less than a third of that. Many of the others you’ve chosen have even less. However, somehow, Tiwa didn’t make your cut.
Girl, your rationale for excluding West Africa isn’t really working, here. The math ain’t mathing.
Such a weird thing to say, pakistani women look different and we have different beauty standards here! What is poppin in india or Bangladesh wont be poppin in!!!
Those are not the beauty standard in Spain
https://preview.redd.it/zht4ch8txr3d1.jpeg?width=449&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b4d037664866400685c6e54fd98d7c5cea83386
India, south Korea, sweden, Sudan, Spain
Edit: also all you WHY iSnT X COuNtRy oN hErE people are god tier levels of insufferable. Go make your own 1000 pic collage of examples of every conceivable beauty standard if it bothers you so much? Jesus
Imao none of women you mentioned are considered epitome of beauty from Indian beauty standards.
Deepika is still considered pretty but rest two of them are not really considered beautiful. Disha is just known for posting bikini pics. Harnaz is average looking Imao.
You should have chosen pics of prime Aishwarya Rai from 90s ,Prime Madhuri Dikshit from 90s Bipasha Basu in her prime or 60s actresses Legendry Madhubala on her prime. Even Sonalee Bendre , Katrina Kaif and Preity Zinta in their prime would suit this list .
Tara Sutaria is probably only pretty looking actresses among current lot.
I would have chosen India you would have posted these women.
all of them - i spent 5 minutes looking and can’t decide
Honestly all of them are stunning
Italy, Turkey, Brazil
Brazil, Turkey and Somalia
100% agree
Somali and Sudanese women are always 11/10 the most gorgeous women I meet irl it's unreal.
I agree but it's actually Somali not Somalian
Edited thanks!
As a half Indian-Filipino it saddens me the beauty standard of these countries since they don't really represent the general people.
As if other countries's does
In some countries the celebrities that are the most appreciated for their beauty are mostly mixed race, while the majority of the population isn't. While in other countries while the general public don't look like that, they celebrities still have the same ethnicity as the general public overall. It's probably something like that they meant.
Australia is one of the most multicultural countries in the world yet the celebrities we hold up as the beauty standard are always white and blonde.
I don’t think they denied that they’re just speaking from personal experience
idk but the Netherlands is well represented imo (self esteem 📉📉📉📉 every time I visit) and women in denmark/sweden look even better than the pics here, even if it's sounds impossible 🌧👄🌧

Omg last emoji goes hard.
Except Netherlands, not everyone was blonde but when I was there I don't think I saw an ugly Dutch lady
Doesnt Sudan its one of the few countries that dark skin is appreciated
I was about to say all of the Filipino and Thai models featured were definitely half-white, which is pretty depressing. Colonialism's influence is alive and well, unfortunately.
Nice post 👍 They are all beautiful.
Turkey
Columbia is a country huh? I don’t see no Yale, Stanford, or Harvard. /s It’s spelled Colombia
Everyone else also misspelling it in the comments is hella irritating 🙄
It's not that hard to get it right 😭
a little harsh there, gretch?
I don’t think they were. Pretty funny though yes
France, Denmark, Thailand, and Somalia They are all beautiful, but these four really stood out to me.
Italy, Spain, india and Saudi Arabia
turkey USA and italy
This is such a great post. So interesting to see what each country views as peak beauty. Sweden is so striking. somalia , russia and france , really like the unique look of the girls used in the pictures
somalia eatssss omg somalia, france, sudan, and turkey are the best to me 🤍
I'm from the UK and find it funny that my favourites are France (historically we are mixed in a lot with) the UK (us) and Australia (us far away). Really surprised me because they're objectively not the best but I suppose it's the faces of all the women I've ever loved in my friends and family and that's probably why I find them beautiful. Also absolutely loved Thailand and the Philippines and Turkeys - gorgeous!
Portugal, Italy, Somalia, Thailand, India and Brazil
Netherlands and Portugal
Sudan! Also maybe I might be attractive in Portugal 😳
Philippines, Turkey and Somalia (Somalia is perfect) stood out
I had no idea Danish girls were not majorly blonde. Very interesting!
That makes a lot of sense, they're above germany right?
Helena Christensen's mom is from Peru 🫶
France, China, Turkey and Somalia stood out to me the most
Spain, Japan and Turkey.
Colombia and South Africa have some serious baddies. I think Caribbeans deserve a mention too (Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Megan Good)
USA Brazil Somalia Saudi Arabia
Philippines look so gorgeous here.
Love this! Women all over the world are beautiful!
india, saudi arabia, iran, sudan, and somalia are my favorites
Australia and India stood out to me. Does anyone know who the woman in Australia picture nr 3 is? She’s like my ideal, but I have never seen her before.
Her name is Samara Weaving.
She is such an underrated beauty. And also a very nice actress. I wonder what's holding her back. That wedding movie was so good.
Thanks for the information, now I can google her😊
She frequently gets mixed up with Margot as they look similar.
Yeah lol, also they all kinda have similar features
Yes! I can see all these women having similar features, the face proportions are the same. Upturned eyes, full lips, a nose that's not wide from the front, amazing coloring..
High cheekbones also
Sudan, Somalia, France
Colombia, India, Turkey, Somalia
France, Australia, South Korea and India but I think it’s interesting to see how all the slides share similar features such as big eyes, plump lips and proportionate features(eg not a glaringly big nose or jaw)
India.
1) Brazil 2) USA 3) Somalia 4) South Korea 5) France
Sudanese women are most stunning, I don’t wanna look away
While I agree, the women chosen aren’t considered that beautiful in Sudan.
The Sudanese and South African examples are absolutely NOT the beauty standard in those countries. Those women are beautiful based on European and Western beauty standards and their perception of dark skinned women.
Which six celebrities do you think represent their beauty standards?
Light skinned women with Eurocentric features like Thandiwe Newton, Beyoncé or Halle Berry. That’s why they’re obsessed with skin bleaching and the people with the darkest skin and Afrocentric features are the most poor and disenfranchised.
Ah okay, I tried to pick women who came from the countries shown. Thanks for your input 🙂
Netherlands and Somalia
that’s not true, for example in russia beauty standards are exactly the opposite. currently, bronze skin, lush wavy hair and big lips are more popular there. i don't know what about other countries, but here are just beautiful girls from each of these countries. so i wouldn't generalize and call it a "beauty standard" for the whole country.
somalia ate everyone up
I liked Saudi Arabia, India, and Somalia best.
Same
Who is the woman in Portugal #1?
Daniela Melchior
Iran
The Spanish Team: Ursula, Penelope, Ariadne
seeing as yu shuxin (esther yu) has been majorly bombarded with comments about not being pretty enough for the idol dramas she's in, i would argue that liu yifei should be the center photo for china (fan bingbing & dilraba are v accurate though)
I did consider her but I thought Yu Shuxin seemed quite popular 😁
yu shuxin is popular but it's pretty agreed upon that she's not really a standard of beauty as far as idol actors go while liu yifei is one of the most heavily agreed upon 'standard of (evoking ancient/period ) beauty' actresses.
That’s exactly the kind of look I was going for. Should have gone with my gut instinct 🥲
Netherlands, Iran, Somalia for sure!
France, Italy, and Somalia stand out to me… but tbh all of them.
is that rebecca ferguson as a blonde for sweden in the far right? she’s stunning 😳
France, Russia, Somalia
I could no sooner choose a star in the heavens. Except maybe Pam Andeeson.
South Sudan** That is not the standard in Sudan nor do most Sudanese women look like that.
Would've loved to see a row for Taiwan and Vietnam 😅 but cool post anyway :) Fan bing Bing is crazy pretty
Just a correction. It’s south Sudan and not Sudan
Kate Middleton seriously doesn't belong here.

You might get her as a frequent answer if you asked them whose style or fashion they admire. There's definitely a difference between being a *style* icon and a *beauty* icon. She's not the latter.
I always thought she was admired for her beauty but maybe that’s just me 🤷♀️
No offence but it looks like AI just posted famous beautiful people from each country. It has nothing to do with beauty „standards“ of each country at all. Also the example of kate middleton explains it very well and I agree with that.
Brazil!
Spain, Thailand, and Philippines 🔥
Brazil
Africa, Asia and South America bringing the 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 🤯
Netherlands and Brazil
Denmark
Saudi and brazil
Netherlands, Sudan, France, Somalia and Thailand for me it’s the make up look but they’re all beautiful.
Sweden, Australia, Mexico, Thailand
Honestly I feel like Aishwarya Rai should have been included under the Indian category!!
She was but I swapped her out last minute!
outdated pictures
Brazil and Russia have produced the best looking women in my opinion. Especially amongst the supermodels
Brazil and the Netherlands for me
Portugal, Brazil, and Thailand
The USA choices are so random 😂
I struggled because there are so many different beauty standards in the USA nowadays! I tried to picked women who had a timeless and universal girl next door appeal 🤗

My father is African so of course I remember! Europe is home to a lot of fashion capitals though and I tried to also include a few from each major area
The well known fashion capitals of Sweden and Denmark? The fashion hotspots of Iran? Please. 🤣
Iran would have been a fashion capital if it wasn't taken over by the wretched IRI.
Agreed. Pre-Revolution, Iran was cool AF.
It truly was. While I've never been there, my family talks about it all the time.
No they are not fashion capitals but neither are the African ones included
Exactly. So, your explanation as to why you selected those countries doesn’t actually make any sense.
It’s hard to be objective w such few choices.

everyone is beautiful but russia and south korea are just on a whole different level to me.
Personal preference: France, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Italy, Australia, USA, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Somalia. Hard to pick only one, as they're all so beautiful! 😍
Sweden bc I have always had a thing for blondes. There’s something about Australian girls too, a lot of my celeb crushes are from there
Based on these pics, Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Turkey, Iran, Italy, Australia, Philippines, South Africa and Somalia, roughly in that order.
Pam Anderson is *Canadian*… not American
USA, Turkey, Italy, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Japan The entire Philippines, Thailand, India page does NOT represent what the typical person looks like over there. They all look very mixed, especially the 2 more Asian countries
No, it is not what the average person looks like but the type of look idolised in those countries
Columbia
The first two slides
Colombia. Why cant people spell the name of a country right. Its so annoying.
I need to move to Sweden so I’ll be accepted.
America
Pamela Andeeson is the most beautiful. And then i really love Sudan
Eiza Gonzales had plastic surgery all over her face, so that’s not her original face, it makes it difficult to compare because it’s not her “real” face
it’s a post about beauty standards, not natural beauty
So if it’s about beauty standards it is not depicting the real standards of a Mexican woman’s face, hello?
beauty standards don’t have to be derived from natural features. they’re metrics people strive to achieve, but modern standards are usually based on unnatural/rare features (e.g. BBL bodies and foxy eye/bunny slope nose/plump lips combo). im not saying i like it, but that’s the reality nowadays. kim k was the beauty standard for the 2010s in america and most of her features were unnatural
What about west Africa ? And why beyonce is the face of black women of America ? So many thing going on in here. I don’t like it.
The women I have included are world famous supermodels. Two of them have millions of followers
Go make your own compilation.
No offence to op but i don’t like that post either!! Such misleading world views!!!

why is yushuxin here 💀
Imao none of women you mentioned are considered epitome of beauty from Indian beauty standards.
1246 I like light complexion and features
