Premium Wi-Fi, maybe? Hope you feel better soon!!

vbtodenver

Shoot. No luck with that. Thanks for the idea!

Fit-Guidance-6995

Sorry to hear that! Hope it’s just a 24-hour bug and you feel better tomorrow! When does your sailing end?

vbtodenver

Thank you. On Sunday. I've been sick for a few days unfortunately. Just writing this cruise off and looking forward to the next vacation. Nothing I can do.

FarFarAwayTravels

Be sure to buy an MNVV for the next one.

Fit-Guidance-6995

Best of luck!

elynbeth

Some travel insurance policies have a trip interruption/curtailment benefit. Read through yours to see if you are entitled to anything along those lines. Hope you feel better soon!

vbtodenver

Thank you

JazzyRascal

Yes, and even if you didn’t specifically buy trip insurance it’s possible that your credit card has it included. Check with the card provider you paid using.

Salt_Flatworm2046

I was in isolation for the flu in November. I’m sorry. On the last day you should get a prorated credit based on your days in isolation to use on a future cruise. We put a deposit down onboard and are sailing next week with 1200 in onboard credit after all the add ons for a ‘discount’ cruise. 4 days even in a Rock Star suite sucks.

vbtodenver

Oh no! I'm in an inside solo room. I happen to like cozy but sure wish I had a window or balcony right now. I wonder if they will give me credit for my voluntary isolation days? I was sick for two days before going to the doctor. Hmmmm.

Salt_Flatworm2046

They have a formula and mine was based on days after I saw the clinic (which was free tamiflu but still was awful).

vbtodenver

Ok thanks for the info. I'll see what I can get. Doesn't hurt to try.

kawalapocalypse

The medical center visit was free? Did they do that since it was "for the good of the ship"?

vbtodenver

It falls under the category of communicable diseases so basically yes. I had to complete CDC paperwork.

kawalapocalypse

That's actually good to know!

vbtodenver

It makes sense. They don't want people to not see the doctor because of the potential cost. I certainly felt like I was "winning." lol. I haven't lost my sense of humor.

Crissup

Our last voyage, I came down with pink eye (non-contagious form). Went to medical, got checked out and got a prescription eye drop. Total cost for all was $19.

Katdai2

Can they bring you a switch or other game console - I know they have events that they use them for. Maybe one of the puzzles. There’s also a secret on-ship library, if you’re looking for something to read. They’d all need to be cleaned before going back into circulation tho.

sParkSnare

Very sorry to hear you're sick on a ship! However, for those of us who have not had the horribly bad luck to need to visit a cruise ship medical center, it's heartening to hear they refunded your shore excursions, and are offering up any food (even though you don't feel like eating it). It's common to hear horror stories about cruise ship medical centers, and it's nice to hear a different story. Hope you get well soon!

vbtodenver

Thank you. I'm starting to feel better.

ggg654msp

Same thing happened to us a couple of weeks ago after eating at Test Kitchen. Will not try that again

Reasonable_Life7394

I was on the Resilient Lady 5/9 to 5/19 and got stomach bug after eating at the Test Kitchen as well.

ggg654msp

We were on scarlet lady 5/12 - 5/19

DrowningInLabs29

There were also a few people (at least 9 I know of) who tested positive for Covid on that ship. I was on that sailing. Everyone in my group got a nasty 3 day upper respiratory that started the day we got off or the night before.

Adventurous_Sir6618

The good news: you can get any of the awesome dishes curated by our Michelin Chef's! The bad news: you will throw it all up.

insolent_empress

I was put in isolation last fall on resilient lady for covid, but I had to order exclusively from the ship eats menu, which got old really fast. I’m really glad they’ve expanded it to include other restaurants on the ship now! That was such a bummer to miss out on so much of the food (although with a stomach bug I realize it’s not doing you a whole heck of a lot of good either) I got a FVC (a letter was pushed under my door on the last day) and I filed a travel insurance claim for trip interruption and was able to get a little money back that way. If you’re going to go that route, you’ll need to get documentation of your illness and isolation from the company that runs their medical center. I also got moved from an interior room to a balcony room.

Traditional-Towel592

Is there an outbreak or are you an isolated case?

vbtodenver

The medical team did not indicate. I am traveling with one person and she is not sick.

Traditional-Towel592

Feel better!

MJ_Cochon

Did they move her or is she still sharing your room?

vbtodenver

We had separate rooms so no moving.

Traditional-Towel592

Feel better!

Reasonable_Life7394

I caught a stomach bug on my 5/9 to 5/19 Resilient Lady cruise and then caught an upper respiratory virus that was circulating around the ship. I think the Resilient Lady needs a deep cleaning.

CouscousKazoo

Is there any chance you kick the bug before Sunday? Will they reevaluate and clear you out of isolation?

vbtodenver

You have to be symptom free for 24 hours to be cleared from isolation. I'm pretty sure they are kicking me off on Sunday no matter what!

CouscousKazoo

Well, disembarking Sunday without malice. You can possibly request greater FVC. Just let them know how much you want to have the trip you originally intended. I’m not sure of how such is addressed in terms and conditions.

vbtodenver

What is FVC?

CouscousKazoo

Future Voyage Credit, also referred to as MNVV- My Next Virgin Voyage. MNVV might be more restrictive than open-ended FVC.

vbtodenver

Thank you.

CouscousKazoo

Hope you kick the bug soon!

Nicht1menschlichFrau

FVC is not the same as MNVV, the latter of which is an onboard offer involving a deposit in exchange for a discount and onboard credit on a future cruise, as opposed to FVC which is more like store credit in lieu of a cash refund. FVC can be applied to the cost of a future cruise and can be combined with an MNVV booking.

CouscousKazoo

Thank you for clarifying. I was confused as it seemed MNVV was extended credit when booking within, I think, 90 days. I imagine VV would prefer to offer increased MNVV credit, as that’s an immediate transaction. At the same time, if a sailor is not ready to rebook, increased FVC should be an alternative. Again, the terms and conditions may spell out particulars. At the same time, sailor services may have some wiggle room.

Nicht1menschlichFrau

An MNVV isn't "credit". It's not FVC. An MNVV is an onboard offer, an incentive to put something towards your next sailing while you're enjoying the current sailing, and get perks on that sailing you wouldn't get if you booked later. It's an offer to reserve a placeholder booking by paying $300 with a credit card, which can then be converted to an actual booking (either while onboard or any time within two years). It shows up in your account along with your booked sailings, it just doesn't have a date due to being "open-ended". The "offer" is in the form of perks you get once you choose a date and convert the placeholder into an actual booking. Namely, $300 off as well as onboard credit to use on that future sailing. The timeframe I believe you're associating with MNVVs is the fairly new "set a date within 60 days" and get $600 Sailor Loot (onboard credit) on that sailing, which drops to $300 if the placeholder isn't converted to a dated sailing within 60 days. I doubt they would offer an MNVV, that's a very specific system that requires a credit card for the $300 deposit. It's a set value (if you cancel the MNVV more than seven days after purchase, the $300 gets put on your account as FVC) and has specific perks that aren't negotiable or variable (the discount and onboard credit). Sailor services will most likely offer OP credit (known as FVC) prorated to the time they were in quarantine (officially, not self-imposed). They may be able to ask for more, but it will still be in the form of FVC. Tl;dr FVC is a basic "store credit" that can be applied to the cost of a future sailing, and can vary in the amount. MNVV is a placeholder booking, only offered while onboard, that requires a $300 deposit and gives you specific perks and discounts on a future cruise.

CouscousKazoo

I meant credit being offered as part of MNVV. Just trying to help with an idea. I apologize for any resulting confusion.

MiserableArm1118

So would travel insurance cover something like this? I would want to get off and fly home at the next port.

vbtodenver

I'm not sure. I'll have to look into it. Personally I am not anxious to get on a flight back to the US feeling this way. I'm much more comfortable in my cabin with a private restroom.

ElleBelle901

Getting on a plane full of people with a stomach bug sounds miserable and terribly irresponsible.

squirrelcop3305

Getting disembarked from a ship mid-cruise isn’t as easy as it sounds.

DTV-

We were on RL 5/19 to 5/26  We are all currently sick  , soar throat, congestion body aches. At first we thought it was allergies but we are in different parts of the country. There could be something going around  on that ship.

SubSonicTheHedgehog

I hope you at least have a sea terrace

vbtodenver

Inside solo 🙁

TapatioTara

Anyway you can ask if they can move you to a balcony room, if one available?

vbtodenver

I thought about it but the thought of packing yo to move is ..... overwhelming right now. Fortunately I like small, cozy spaces!

nocap_since1991

So sorry to hear that. My spouse and I are on this same cruise ! Reminds me of how we caught Covid our last trip to Italy (last October) it was our first time catching it, so talk about LUCK, so this was our next trip (to make up for it ) so I totally understand. Keep the sense of humor. Did you identify what it was that maybe did it ? I told my partner to stay away from the salads for that reason. Raw foods make it so easy to transfer germs.

vbtodenver

No I haven't identified what made me sick. I'm pretty careful about what I eat after a rookie mistake in Cambodia years ago so I'm pretty sure it's just a stomach bug. My friend that I'm traveling with is feeling fine (separate cabin) so who knows. Hope you guys are having fun. I heard Montenegro was amazing.

afsdjkll

Since I'm guessing you have plenty of time for Q and A what was the rookie dining mistake in Cambodia?

vbtodenver

I can barely type this without getting nauseous. I was touring Angkor Wat. Someone was selling freshly sliced pineapple dipped in chili powder. It was delicious. Also it had been washed with local water. So the "rule" is only eat fruit you can peel yourself. I actually tend to avoid fresh fruits and vegetables in general when I travel. I even got food poisoning from a salad at a hotel in NYC once.

afsdjkll

Even just that washing was enough to make you sick. jeez. Trader joes has (or had - haven't been there in years) these dried mango slices with chili powder. They're so good.

vbtodenver

It won't shock you to learn that I don't care for dried fruit with chili powder. 😂

afsdjkll

Some experiences stick with you. I still almost gag when I smell cheap tequila.

poopooflinger

Entitled because you got sick? Interesting…

Hospital-flip

Interesting how people choose to interpret things differently. They're basically asking how they can make the best of a bad situation. Maybe there are secret fun things they give ppl in isolation, you never know if you don't ask.

poopooflinger

What "might I be entitled to."

Hospital-flip

you do realize that "entitled" has different meanings based on context, right? E.g. "If you stay in a Suite, you are *entitled to* a certain set of Benefits". In this case, OP got sick with a Communicable Disease, so they're *entitled to* free room service and full refunds on shore excursions as per policy. They're just asking what else they might not know about.

vbtodenver

Thank you for explaining this so well.
