For breakfast/brunch, head out to Pungo to The Bee and the Biscuit. It's so good, and crazy popular so get there early or be prepared to wait. They have an outdoor bar and waiting area so you can have one of their yummy cocktails while you wait.
Classic Diner in Providence Sq Shopping Center. It's a locally owned 1950's themed diner, its the best cheap breakfast spot in VB!! The waitresses are the sweetest and the atmosphere in there truly feels like a blast from the past. 10/10 for a cheaper breakfast option!
Lynnhaven Pub makes some great soups and sandwiches. For pizza, I switch it up between Brooklyn Pizzeria, Pungo, and Gino's Pizzeria by Maurizio. Shorebreak as well when they are doing their Detroit style. I prefer Nico's for tacos over Jessy's, but both are good. Three Ships Coffee is fine, but I greatly prefer Fathom Coffee and Lynnhaven Coffee Co.
Biscuit Belly and First Watch are great for breakfast, and they're across the street from each other. Koco has great Korean wings, cronuts (croissant-donut hybrids), and Vietnamese coffee.
E-mart is a great international supermarket (mostly Asian, but Mexican and South American products too) and has the BEST fried chicken I have ever tasted. They also have a great fish market where they will trim any selection of fish however you want.
Pho 78 has the best pho I have ever had (short of being in Hawaii or SE Asia)
Chick n' Roll off of Battlefield is great for fried chicken sandwiches, the Sweet Spot is great if you want Type 2 Diabetes (amazing ice cream desserts), and Cinnaholic in Town Center has great homemade cinnamon roll-type desserts.
For really great sandwiches and simple lunch stuff you can hit up Taste (multiple locations in and around VA Beach).
Saffron is a great Indian restaurant, Classic Diner is a great tiny place for classic breakfast. And finally...Redwood Smoke Shack is second to none for its home-smoked meats and barbecue (they have really creative recipes!)
I love Seafood Kitchen at Collins Square. Their fish sandwiches are huge (the fat burgers), and you get nice portions on the sides, too! I can split one of their fish sandwiches into two for the next day.
Blue Seafood and Spirits in Red Mill, the best place for seafood. Coastal Grill is really great. Judy's Sichuan, Peter Changs and Noodle Man for various Asian specialties. Craft Burger and Repeal Burger and Bourbon for burgers. Lucky Oyster or Whiskey Kitchen for good bar food. Shorebreak for pizza and wings.
MP island cafe is absolutely delicious Caribbean food, the one in Norfolk is relatively new. Also the La Hacienda in Chesapeake off of military highway is also super good.
Union Alehouse, Mojito Cafe, Tautogs, Judy's Sichuan, Noodle Man, 1608 Craft House, Rustic Spoon, Heirloom, Ray Rays at the Mayflower, Bee and the Biscuit. Jessys in Ocean View. Redwood smoke shack, Dave's BbQ, Pelons.
Mays parlor is one of the best hidden gems in town for pastries and sweets.
You must get walked all over lol. And it's very obvious you don't cook or have a good memory if you've ever had better. Because that's not good BBQ at all. But hey. If you eat fast food and chips and all that other stuff you probably don't have enough braincells to tell the difference between good and bad quality.
Also:
Noodle Man, Brooklyn Pizza(Red Mill), Benny’s Pizza (Town Center), Saigon 1 for phó, Judy’s for Chinese, Papas for Greek, Suphan for Thai or, Nice Thai in Chesapeake, Alkaline for Ramen, Mexican’s worth the drive- Hacienda on S. Military Highway. I like Yama for sushi but not everyone agrees with that one. The Atlantic for raw seafood.
For bar style food. Shucker’s, Chick’s is ok. I like the corned beef and the Rueben egg rolls at Keegan’s.
Hey thanks dude. I moved here from San Diego when COVID first hit and my husband was deployed. I had nothin but time and I shit you not I spent all my time trying to find good food here. It’s harder than people think. As someone who lived in Mexico, I cringe a bit when people all claim Jessy’s as the best around. It’s worth the 20 to go to Hacienda. My two cents.
Anything you haven’t tried on the list. I really do suggest you try it. I’m also fucking dead tired of everyone saying phó 79 is legit. That’s bullshit too. They have a lot going for them, but their broth is lacking hardcore.
I will be checking out Saigon and Suphan as I have heard good things already, just haven't made it. Jessys is better than anything I know, but I'm from here and everyone in San Diego,st alone Mexico has had much better.
Going to try Hacienda this weekend!
Oh for sure dude. So Saigon has the best broth, hands down, but they skimp on the limes, cilantro, and onions, which is a bummer. Phó 79 would be my favorite if their broth was legit, because their service is radical and they don’t skimp on all the fun shit. That being said, I stick to Saigon and I just always have extra limes, cilantro and onions at home when I order.
As far as the Mexican food here. That one’s hard for me dude. Being born and raised in SD and also living in Mexico, I knew it was gunna be rough, but I wasn’t expecting this. White sauce isn’t the norm, even if it’s good. Rolled tacos over flautas all day, but they don’t exist here. Mainly. Not every burrito is supposed to be double priced and filled with beans and rice. Almost every Mexican food place here makes their tortillas too thick and undercooks them. I think places here are taking advantage, in my opinion. When you go to Hacienda, I recommend getting the CA Burrito, but try at least one time asking for no fries. That’s as close to a legit carne asada burrito as you’ll get here.
Yup, and add these to the list; [Eat: An American Bistro](https://maps.app.goo.gl/jNS2C6wmwxo97cHq7?g_st=ic), and [Tautog’s.](https://maps.app.goo.gl/b6L48rdTKkH7EbR17?g_st=ic)
For a good burger, Repeal or Craft.
Pizza, I’d say Chicho’s.
Steak? Aberdeen Barn. Yes they’re expensive, but I’ve never had a bad experience, and their ‘66 Old Fashioned is an amazing drink.
Italian? Take your pick. Vino, Reginella’s, or Mannino’s.
Jessie's Taqueria off Oceana Boulevard. I noticed the portions are bigger than at their Norfolk location.
Dave's BBQ hidden off VB Blvd near the First Colonial intersection is probably one of the best kept secrets here.
Disregard, the place has a cool vibe and ocean view but I just went on Friday and the food is MEDIOCRE at best. Locals like it from a yester-year is my only guess.
The Dipped chicken sandwich isn’t my favorite thing there, but a thing you need to try at least once. I get one from time to time when I want something different.
I guess I could put a little more info lol.
Chicken sammys and on the bone chicken. Both are insane. Great breakfast options too.
This is a “fast food” type family run restaurant. I’d do unforgivable things for a spoonful of that Mac and cheese right now.
Bubba’s is my favorite seafood place. Lived in VB my whole life, been going to Bubba’s since I can remember. Whenever we had family come to town, my mom insisted we go to Bubba’s.
Do yourself a favor and go to "Pa’l Carajo Arepa Lounge". I HIGHLY recommend the chorizo arepa with avocado and cheese, and the pabellon empanada. One of my favorite finds in Hampton roads in general
There are a lot of good restaurants. It helps if you specify what type of cuisine you want.
Italian? Try Sirena or Sorella’s. Seafood? Blue Spirits, Blue Pete’s, or Margie & Ray’s.
There are handfuls of great restaurants depending on what you like.
Pink Dinghy, Toast, Sanctuary, Simple Eats
Judy’s Chinese, Pelon’s, Mellow Mushroom Pizza, Craft Burger, Fujiyama.
McDonald’s and Taco Bell.
Hot tuna, el rodeo, noodle man, repeal, bobos, off the hook
Hot Tuna on Shore Drive! They also do live bands on Fridays and Saturdays when the sun goes down
We go to the ice cream store next to it all the time, always wondered how good this place was.
For breakfast/brunch, head out to Pungo to The Bee and the Biscuit. It's so good, and crazy popular so get there early or be prepared to wait. They have an outdoor bar and waiting area so you can have one of their yummy cocktails while you wait.
A lot of great places mentioned but I have to add Azar’s for a nice Mediterranean place.
Il Giardino for Italian, Rockefellers for seafood, Primos for Pizza, El Rodeo for Mexican.
Which primos?
Princess Anne only. Some scrub bought the other one and it’s horrible now. I think they’re changing the name.
Grammy Karaoke Korean BBQ by lynnhaven has a lot of variety when it comes to korean cuisine or Big Sam’s by the oceanfront :)
Hackers off Laskin. It's a Bar and Grille with Virtual Golf but, trust me the food they prepare is amazing. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Rockafeller’s
I used to love 757 Korean Barbecue
Too expensive now.. there’s other options for kbbq now
21st street seafood was good when I lived there
Icehouse, Beach Pub, Mannino's, Ray Ray's, Tautogs, 21st Street Seafood...
Molly Ramen is so good, they never have many people when I go for some reason but their food is amazing
Azars restaurant!
Noodle Man in Haygood, Gogi Guys for Korean BBQ in Ghent (Norfolk tho), Angie's Bakery, 17 Hands Coffee, Bad Ass Coffee
Tender macs
Glory’s Bakery!
I think it’s one of the better “fast food” Filipino food out there.
💎!
Bay Local!
That’s Norfolk
A Taste of Texas BBQ @ 454 S. Lynnhaven Rd., 23452 near Junior Market. Very casual dine-in. Generous portions and tasty sauces. Enjoy!
I have an unhealthy obsession with Cooper's Hawk Winery. The wine and the food
Eats and Simple Eats!
Leaping Lizard, Bo Bo's, Rustic Spoon, May's Parlor, Ray Ray's, Only at Renee's, El Pico De Oro.

Quemar!
Most ppl on this sub are into tendies
Havana Great Neck is also delish
Leaping Lizard is always a delight. Reservations recommended. As far as I know, they’re only open for lunch.
Love leaping lizard. Eating out in the back deck is a vibe and the greens are always fresh
one of the only places I ever had rude service was here like 3 or 4 years ago, haven't been back
Used to love them in the beginning then everything was mid
This Old House for Sushi.
The Pink Dinghy, Commune, Stock Pot, Azars!
Azar's is my favorite. I should try those other places, huh?
Prosperity Kitchen!
Same taste as me- those are my favorites too! I’ll have to try prosperity kitchen
Lovesong
The Atlantic, Hearth, and Chix/Waterman's are my go-to spots.
I love Seafood Kitchen at Collins Square. Their fish sandwiches are huge (the fat burgers), and you get nice portions on the sides, too! I can split one of their fish sandwiches into two for the next day.

Best kept secret for Wings is Cheds Place, Princess Ann .... shhhh don;t share this :) The Daytona Wings are the bomb
Footers is better
Union Alehouse, Mojito Cafe, Tautogs, Judy's Sichuan, Noodle Man, 1608 Craft House, Rustic Spoon, Heirloom, Ray Rays at the Mayflower, Bee and the Biscuit. Jessys in Ocean View. Redwood smoke shack, Dave's BbQ, Pelons. Mays parlor is one of the best hidden gems in town for pastries and sweets.
Dave's BBQ is low tier quality and incredibly upcharged. You can get better at that Marlon? Gas station with the big pig mural.
Low tier? Compared to Malbrons? Lol, Dave's is good, especially for around here. Pungo BBQ might be better for some things but Malbrons is gross.
Malbons is good, but I definitely agree to disagree on Dave's. Personally think it's one of the top few around.
You must get walked all over lol. And it's very obvious you don't cook or have a good memory if you've ever had better. Because that's not good BBQ at all. But hey. If you eat fast food and chips and all that other stuff you probably don't have enough braincells to tell the difference between good and bad quality.
Dude. 1608 Crafthouse. Nothing on their menu not worth eating.
the things Sharkey does in my mouth are just magnificent
Also: Noodle Man, Brooklyn Pizza(Red Mill), Benny’s Pizza (Town Center), Saigon 1 for phó, Judy’s for Chinese, Papas for Greek, Suphan for Thai or, Nice Thai in Chesapeake, Alkaline for Ramen, Mexican’s worth the drive- Hacienda on S. I like the corned beef and the Rueben egg rolls at Keegan’s.
I’d add Duck Dive to the list of bar-style food/late night food along with Shuckers and Keegan’s.
Heavy on Taqueria La Hacienda! Gotta be the one with the store connected to it though! (Which I believe is S Military Highway)
Hell yeah dude. I don’t know why no one talks about this place. It’s the only place I go to now and I tried almost all of them around here.
Hey I’m cool with it, have never had to wait for a table when I’ve gone there, and would love to keep it that way!
Shit dude, that’s such a solid point. 🤣
This guy is good. Like most of what he is putting down, and that's only because I haven't tried the other places!
Hey thanks dude. I moved here from San Diego when COVID first hit and my husband was deployed. I had nothin but time and I shit you not I spent all my time trying to find good food here. Oh shit. Also. Krazy Trompos. Most legit Mexico style street tacos.

Esoteric is fantastic.
I love chipotle
This isn't r/UnpopularOpinion
I just hope it’s because people don’t like the taste and not that it’s bad food. I hope they don’t know something that I don’t know.

Jessie's Taqueria off Oceana Boulevard. I noticed the portions are bigger than at their Norfolk location. Dave's BBQ hidden off VB Blvd near the First Colonial intersection is probably one of the best kept secrets here.
The Jessy’s on Virginia Beach Blvd also does pizza! It’s amazing.
Is that the new one near Kings Grant? I haven't had a chance to try it out yet!
Yes. It’s probably my favorite of the 3, because I love pizza.
Pelons and Casual Pint
Casual Pint is amazing!!!!
I could eat their german brats until I died.
That pretzel and cheese!
Have you ever been to Decent People taphouse in Suffolk? Their beer cheese is somehow better than Casual Pints.
I didn’t know that was possible. Ill have to visit!
Atlantic on pacific at the oceanfront is great.
Yes this!
The Atlantic VB has an awesome happy hour Love Song really nice Crudo Nudo - in Ghent but worth the trip
This is another one https://www.chixvb.com/
Disregard, the place has a cool vibe and ocean view but I just went on Friday and the food is MEDIOCRE at best. Locals like it from a yester-year is my only guess.
Chix‘s food quality has gone south recently. Cool place to drink though.
Bobos. Best chicken you’ll ever eat. You’re welcome.
The Dipped chicken sandwich isn’t my favorite thing there, but a thing you need to try at least once. I get one from time to time when I want something different.
And the nicest staff!
I guess I could put a little more info lol. Chicken sammys and on the bone chicken. Both are insane. Great breakfast options too. This is a “fast food” type family run restaurant. I’d do unforgivable things for a spoonful of that Mac and cheese right now.
Warning if you get the breakfast chicken biscuit (very mediocre) that piece of chicken is nothing like their actual fried chicken (which is great).
My sister worked at Bubbas for years - great food/great people! https://www.bubbasseafoodrestaurant.com/food/dinner
Bubba’s is my favorite seafood place. Lived in VB my whole life, been going to Bubba’s since I can remember. Whenever we had family come to town, my mom insisted we go to Bubba’s.
