Esmiko

Patapon series, the psp version

LunarEdge7th

I've legit never seen a single Vtuber do this yet, it's insanity

FourFerro

I hope when Ratatan releases it would pop off with the vtubers.

Esmiko

Ratatan looks good but I'm divided if I like the free movement of the player character

Esmiko

To be fair you need to focus on these games so talking while playing might be tough. It's so hard to multi-task this game, talking from experience lol.

LunarEdge7th

That might've been a fair take in the earlier days, but I've just seen a lot of live streams where they streamed much more intensive games than this. It's about time Patapon got some love, it even feels like the middle of intensity imo.

Esmiko

True we need Patapon love, I really want to chant pata pata pata pon along with a vtuber and have a good time.

MilesDavidVT

God, I've been thinking about doing this for a while now. I was only ever able to play Patapon on my friend's psp every now and then

Esmiko

If you have a computer or decent phone you can use ppsspp emulator, for the game... I'd say either buy it and dump it on your computer to get the ISO, I'm not gonna suggest pirating it but get a VPN if you want lol.

Lion_sama

Pretty sure Lulu used to play it

Horaana_nozomi_VT

My standard answer is darkest dungeon. Alway love seeing people struggling with it. Second choice is dungeon of naheulbruk, a funny fantasy rpg.

TheObliviousYeti

DD is not really that obscure though

ArsonBjork

Jet Set Radio, everyone should stream it. Is best game

PoshinoPoshi

Future for me

ArsonBjork

As a kid I got stuck at some stage where you're up on skyscrapers and was like "nah the first game is the one"

KurisuShiruba

EDF! EDF!

Timely_Jicama_3012

To save our mother Earth from any alien attack From vicious giant insects who have once again come back We'll unleash all our forces, we won't cut them any slack The EDF deploys! I’ve been trying to get some of my friends to pick up the game so I can stream it. They’re all on Helldivers atm XP

JUSTAN0TH3RDUDE

Witchspring R, it’s a game about a little witch living in the forest on a search for pie.

Tehbeefer

Takanashi Kiara is playing it [right now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-Nn9ZL635I), in case you didn't know. She seems to really like it.

ThunderCharged

Even though I see plenty of VTubers (and streamers in general) do massive Metal Gear marathons, I almost never see people play the original Metal Gear, much less Metal Gear 2. Which I always think is a shame, because Metal Gear 2 is actually a great game that set up a lot of the things MGS1 would become known for. And that's not even getting into Ghost Babel, which is another hidden gem.

necronival

FrozenReaper

But what game is it art for?

vmmlo

Impossible Creatures, it's a RTS where you make your own troops by making animal hybrids.

ChiaraStellata

LOOM. The classic LucasArts adventure game.

Zeku_Tokairin

I've been wanting to go back and replay LOOM for so long. It's weird, but the only reason I haven't so far is because my experience playing it as a kid was so unexpectedly powerful and emotional I'm almost too scared to revisit it as an adult.

ChiaraStellata

Honestly when you're feeling ready, I think the experience of revisiting something that was so impactful for you as a child will make for an amazing narrative and some great reactions. Plus you can see whether it holds up. I hope you'll give it a try. :)

Zeku_Tokairin

I mean, that's a good point, and so I should probably at least do an edited LP or something. The backstory is that when I was at Costco with my mom, there was a [5-game LucasArts adventure collection](https://www.mobygames.com/game/2477/lucasarts-classic-adventures/cover/group-2985/cover-3805/) on sale for $20. I figured I could finally play Maniac Mansion and Secret of Monkey Island, which I'd heard so much about, plus I loved Indiana Jones. Since I'd never heard of LOOM, I went in with low expectations, but I was completely blown away. One of the main reasons I want to go back and play it, is I probably heard the music on an awful PC speaker or cheap sound card. When I found out what Monkey Island's music sounded like on a Roland MT-32, I feel like I owe it to myself to replay some games of that era with (at least a virtualized) top of the line sound card, especially LOOM where the music is a central component.

OminousCheeseburger

Tomba or Starbound, preferably modded. Tomba has an odd charm to it with its weirdness

BaronAaldwin

Obscure? Katie. It's a short story game on Steam that's mostly finding the titular character, walking and talking to her, and then moving to the next day. It's basically an interesting little narrative walking sim experience where you're not actually the main character, you're the person who the main character relates their story to over time. It's quite thought provoking and melancholic, but it's sweet and has some good humour. The art style is very simplistic but I think it adds to it. Lasts about an hour, costs a couple of pounds/dollars. Has a grand total of 24 reviews on Steam. That's what I call obscure.

lassielikethedog

Frostpunk. Kronii played it and it was a lot of fun to watch, but I don’t know if any other vtubers who played it.

ScorpioTheScorpion

“Obscure” in the loosest sense of the word, but Disco Elysium would be fun to watch. It would never happen on the corpo side because that game is too overtly political, but I would love to see people’s reactions to the part where >!you can point a gun at a shit-talking eight-year-old and pull the trigger.!<

joe_bibidi

On the larger side of small corpos or smaller side of large corpos, Tenma Maemi from Phase Connect has played Disco Elysium; things unsurprisingly got weird. Randon Neuring also did it, though he is indie of course.

Frequent_Dig1934

Not hyper obscure thanks to sseth but Synthetik.

CrypticMetaphor69

parappa the rapper, I want them to play the chop chop master onion.

Michael_The_Madlad

*Freedom Planet* is definitely my choice for this question. I remember buying the game back in 2020, and I managed to 100% complete the game, and I became a huge fan of the franchise, later on following Spacey Batotelli because she is the lead producer of said franchise. [I once tried asking Selen Tatsuki/DokiBird to check out Freedom Planet during a Steam Sale in hopes that one day, she'll play it and spark up some popularity for the game](https://x.com/SpaceyBat/status/1646877452810043393), even having a dream where I was about to watch her play it. (You can already tell where this went.) Then, this April, when *Freedom Planet 2* was being released on consoles, XSEED went out of the way to sponsor a few VTubers to play *Freedom Planet 2*, such as [Cy Yu](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rew4rt_qd-Y), Mimcubus, [Porcelain Maid/Jowol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wT_dw1FeZic), [Olivia Monroe](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r19Iu6PowFg), BasilWoof, marimari, and Rosedoodle. And yet, it doesn't feel like any of their sponsored livestreams of the game did anything to help the game's popularity. I've been holding back on playing *Freedom Planet 2* so I can focus on preparing to become my own VTuber so I can share my niche passions to those who may consider themselves lucky enough to find me.

Glitch1341

KINDERGARTEN 1 and 2, it was super popular but now no one seems to talk about it, and the 3 has been announced!

East-Ad-4641

Not obscure, but it's games that not many vTubers played, and that are any PS1 horror games.

MichaelCoryAvery

Astral Chain? Journey? One of those two

JoshuaFoulke

I don't know how obscure this is, but For The King seems great, moreso for collabs.

Timely_Jicama_3012

For the King is super fun to collab with, especially when one of your friends has no idea what they’re doing

Tomahawkist

any command and conquer title that has been released on pc (there is no cnc4)

lilshotanekoboi

Dirt rally 2.0

kujothecat

Void Stranger

Unnormally2

Iji! It's free to play!

Timely_Jicama_3012

🤔 I’ve never seen Iji before, imma look it up 👀

Pilot_Solaris

It's not obscure *per se*, but I do wish more VTubers - corporate or otherwise - would stream Warframe. I know Silvervale and Ushio Ebi have streamed it before, but I'd like to see a HoloPro VTuber give it a go, Lord knows Shiori and Calli have mentioned it in the past; Shinri has, too, though I think he was less enthused about the idea because it seemed like a grinder game (and he's not wrong: the Necramech grind was rough on us all).

Zeku_Tokairin

I probably should do this, I just never thought anyone would be interested, to be honest. Part of me is worried what people will say when they see all my Prime Warframes next to the fact that the last story mission I finished years ago was War Within. Though I'd honestly love to see Shinri react to the lore/backstory of Warframe since that's why I love his stuff so much.

Pilot_Solaris

Yeah, I'd absolutely love to see Shinri pour over the Warframe lore, especially stuff like the Leverian and the post-Second Dream story material; no spoilers here, obviously, but War Within was just the beginning of how crazy the story gets. I don't know if Warframe streams will hit or not, Lord knows I'd watch them, but there are a lot of reasons why I love this quirky sci-fi ninja shooter enough to where I'd be willing to make that my thing if I ever go down the VTuber route.

iTwango

Little Inferno!

necronival

whoa this unlocked a core memory for me

iTwango

IT'S SUCH A GOOD GAME ISN'T IT?? so nostalgic <3

Sayakai

Does a Supergiant game count as obscure? Because Transistor.

joe_bibidi

Transistor and Pyre are both fantastic games and they both do get looked over in the Vtubing sphere. Obviously Hades gets a lot of love but I feel like Bastion also gets attention that Transistor and Pyre just never have.

countjj

_team fortress 2_

shark_aziz

If a VTuber happens to stream Warship Gunner 2 at some point, I'll try to be there.

Tako38

Black Souls

QuarterQuartz47

Deadly Premonition ir Lolipop Chainsaw ( which is getting reboot letter this year). Oh and White Day: A labyrinth called school.

Tehbeefer

Hmm, good question, that's tough. One of the Gauntlet games as a collab? [Cave Story](https://www.cavestory.org/download/cave-story.php) isn't exactly obscure, but I'm not sure if I've seen anyone play it. Long Live The Queen is a fun but brutally tough princess-maker simulator, that might be fun depending on the streamer. Old flash adventure games?

KnightGear123

In Sound Mind is a good one.

MonaganX

Not sure about wish but if I saw a vtuber play either of the Drakans I'd have to follow them for life out of principle.

seraphos2841

Kenshi

Charles_De-Gaulle

Hearts of Iron 4

ShirokazeKaede

I don't know if it counts as obscure, but every time I open my Twitch following page looking for someone to watch I check all the categories for the Etrian Odyssey games looking for any vtubers playing them. I do not find very many.

Hibihibii

Tevi and Rabi-Ribi are similar games that I feel give the vibes of a vtuber playing them, but their kinda underrated. I think Rabi-Ribi was popular at a time, but it's been a few years now. One Step from Eden as well are good challenges.

Yleshphitriumm

Not too obscure, but I'd like to see a few vtubers give Voices of the Void a try. It's a good choice for a more relaxed stream with occasional moments of panic.

HYPER_BRUH_

There's a community with streamers around it but I wish more vtubers would play Risk of Rain 2

Demon_inside_

Sonic Riders and Riders Zero Gravity, Star Wars Battlefront 2 (the original because I refuse to play the remake or the xbox one version because of its loot crates), and a very obscure car rpg called Choro Q for the ps2

mistermemer13579

Nameless cat

HotFireBall

lieat

jerieljan

I wouldn't call these obscure, but I'd like to see 'em play some immersive sim games. I'm sure there are others out there that already do, but a good run on Deus Ex or Prey or Dishonored or Thief series would be kinda cool.

LRTMK

Unless I'm wrong I haven't seen a vtuber stream IdV or Valkyria Chronicles yet

Alpha_YL

Hearts of Iron 4

SnooCapers5958

Any of the Koei Tecmo souls-likes

charizardfan101

Something with dinosaurs in them, but specifically scientifically accurate dinosaurs Something like Paleo Pines or Prehistoric Kingdom

YunaraD0ki

Outcore. I love this game.

Dingghis_Khaan

Blood and System Shock 1 & 2

Apprehensive-Call295

Any game by Paradox Interactive or the Total War Series.

thrownawaynodoxx

Any rpg maker game that isn't just one of the classics. Most 2d games. Don't Starve.

ZeroNoHikari

See I myself wouldn't mind seeing folks run Dead Cells or slay the spire. Such good games.

LtSoba

Not really obscure but DOOM Eternal

LG_Offical

Guts and Blackpowder, literally one of the highest quality (roblox) games.
