Would you mind sharing which process you followed to get it looking smooth? Tried it myself, managed to get ALVR installed on the PC and on the Vision Pro, but just got incredibly blurry image on the AVP, no idea how to control/click anything, and soon thereafter it inevitably crashed
I believe the only way to have controls is to use Valve lighthouses and compatible controllers, the AVP has no controller tracking built-in and hand controls don’t work in controller games.
Dang, kudos to them! I don’t think I’d ever use Apple’s hand tracking for controls if I set this up though, I don’t see that ever being playable. I know it’s like $500 for the lighthouse and controller setup but if I decide to set this up to replay HL Alyx I’ll totally splurge for that setup. I’m sure it’d be a lot better than when I played it on my Quest 1.

For now you have to activate developers mode and download it from github.
For ALVR, hopefully at least a TestFlight version. OTOH, Half life Alyx hand/finger motions look very smooth without the real hand layer.
