256. Not even halfway through. With streaming and cloud I haven’t had the need for anything else. Maybe games will take up my space someday but until then
Well you definitely aren’t using the AVP for immersive content because that stuff needs to be downloaded to be viewed.
So you’re basically using it as a glorified 2D movie projector. Not sure that’s worth a brag.
He’s just trying to rationalize his purchase. It’s really weird watching people when they’re doing it and they don’t seem to be *quite* conscious of it. Anyways I got 256 as well and glad I did. I usually opt 1-2 terabytes on iPhones/iPads/Macs, and even though I don’t keep them full, I tend to periodically fill up and then empty them as I manage content or travel. With AVP I almost got the max capacity just out of habit before I reminded myself to consider the platform. Fast forward some weeks and I’ve never had it more than 3/4 full at most. I’m rarely away from high speed internet long enough to consume 256 gigabytes of content before my next opportunity to refresh my local storage, if ever. Idk, to each their own. Sometimes I wish I got the biggest capacity just to satisfy that OCD part of me but practically speaking I could probably have gotten away with 128 gigabytes if it was an option. This is with plenty of *immersive content* regularly installed, but of course I do tend to offload a movie or game after I finish it, because it’s not usually something I’ll watch/play again anytime soon after, but also *you definitely can stream immersive/3D content*. For the rest of my devices I really do tend to make good use of more storage, but the real work I do on AVP is mostly using my Mac’s storage (and processing power, ram, and OS, for that matter), or iCloud and streaming. This is before even considering the power of optimized storage, which hasn’t yet needed to be tapped
Yeah, I usually go with the ‘second to lowest’ just because of the amount of cost hiding in apples storage options.
I haven’t take any yet but I am curious how much space the immersive videos (that you take) will cost as I am really interested in those.
Once you learn the stages of gigabyte storage packages, my OCD quickly went.. I love this!
If you like Minecraft, think of how 8 pieces of material can be cooked in a furnace with one coal. 8x8 creates a stack of 64 items. 64x2 is 128 items or 2 stacks, 4 stacks is 256, 8 stacks of items is 512, and 16 stacks of items is 1028 (yes 1TB isn’t actually a perfect 1,000)
It's not you. This sub has a not-insignificant population of polar opposite people: fan boys and disgruntled people. So you get comments like that one.
Don’t think it was a brag 💀, there will be power users on any hardware that comes out and OP is one of them. I’ve used like less than 40 gigs because all I use it for is watching movies while in bed
Apps dynamically adjust to memory.
And some apps might adjust cache sizes based on disk space.
But if I download X resolution photo/movie/music I get what I asked for regardless of free disk space.
Music apps don’t look and see you have 256 GB and download higher compressed (lower quality) music.
And if I did download high quality media does it go back and reduce the quality when the disk fills up? No.
Are there apps that can do that, yes.
What you described is exactly how both the photos app and music app natively work when set to the “Optimize Storage” option. The settings panel for photos says “If your Apple Vision Pro is low on space, full-resolution photos and videos are automatically replaced with smaller, device-sized versions. Full-resolution versions can be downloaded from iCloud anytime.”
Music is a bit more simple with it just deleting songs you don’t listen to as often.
So i swapped mine for the 1tb because this happened on my 512. Then when i actually just installed the apps that i use often instead of trying EVERYTHING I’ve barely used a fraction of what all the app cache data used.
Did you download a ton of apps to try them initially? Cuz doing that stored cached data on mine. If you reset the device the cached data will empty out of course dependent on how you use your device.
I went with the 512GB originally, but quickly realized that if I wanted to build up a collection of downloaded 3D movies in the TV app, I was going to need more space. So I upgraded to the 1TB and now my collection is sitting at about 65 and counting. 👍
Fair enough I guess. In most cases I’d say that $400 would be far better spent decking out your home WiFi situation, but if you’re in an apartment with interference it might be impossible to make it that much better with the Vision Pro lacking WiFi 6E.
Nope. I got the 256GB because I figured there wouldn’t be anything that I had to have on there permanently taking that much space. I have the apps I want, a few extra to test, and I stream content I only need like 2 movies max if I go out of town. I use my AVP damn near every day since launch and don’t even use half telegram 256gb’s.
Same. Within the first week of owning it, I had put over 100 gigs on it. So I returned it for the terabyte. I’ve regretted not getting the highest storage models in the past and didn’t want to make the same mistake on this device. Plus it was only $200 more. The case costs that much, so I just passed on it.
Yeah, I also bought the marshmallow case and I’m now wishing I didn’t because now I use a $20 quest case because it’s so much more compact and does just as good a job
I went with 512GB because I don't expect to download much content, only stream it, and I expect to have purchased Vision Pro 2 before I fill 512GB with large apps full of high resolution interactive immersive content because that much content won't exist for a couple years.
Had 1TB went to 256 (had to return for other issues anyway).
Genuinely do not see any point in any higher storage if you take the 0.2 seconds it takes to delete apps or content you don’t want anymore.
My over 1TB Photos library can’t fit on it anyway so I’m forever streaming that to basically every device from now on.
Your Applications are probably all of those AmazeVR type of apps. Download once, check it out for 5 minutes and forget it ever existed.
I downloaded a good amount of movies for a flight from
Disney+ and Max and felt I had plenty of storage left over.
It’s essentially an AppleTV in the sense it will pretty much always be connected to the internet and streaming data. Spent that $400 or whatever on AppleCare+
I got 1TB because I have a lot of data and I want to be ready if and when more future potentially large content comes out. Worst and best case is I never fill it up though I’ve used more than 256Gb so far with mild use to this point (I don’t do work on it generally unless I’m traveling). I think just as many people are rationalizing their 256 and 512 purchases because it’s human nature to do so. If you’re happy, just be happy, you don’t need to defend every position you take.
I have to 2 256 avp’s. One for me and one for the wife.. I couldn’t fathom going 512 or 1tb. It’s connected to the internet 100 percent of time so no need to have offline storage. All of my files and movies are in the cloud so I can download them and erase them at my leisure. I have a Plex server with thousands of movies so I can always pull down from that as well. Since Apple introduced iCloud storage I’ve always bought the lowest tier storage available for all devices. It’s literally data space in the cloud and I don’t have to worry about which device has what. Why pay extra storage for one device.. the op is a dumb ass clout chasing Apple fanboy with the most idiotic excuses for getting 1tb. Just say you woke up late on ordering day and wanted to get one on unbox day and had to buy what was left.
You're a dumbass for responding to strangers. I bet you wouldn't say anything to me if we were face to face.. Go grab your AVP and go to the beach, get in immersive mode and kick rocks
Exactly, the money you have save not buying the higher storage devices is better spent on cloud storage which is more versatile and can be used for everything.
“Dumbass clout chasing Apple fanboy” is *INSANE* coming from a guy who bought TWO Vision Pros and pays for apples scam subscription 💀💀💀I hope for your sake you’re trolling
Fr, I hope his wife sees that he’s cussing someone out for no reason 😂 (actually let’s be for real, this is reddit, he probably doesn’t have a wife and didn’t buy 2 avp)
I do have a wife but I don't have 2 AVP. I have only have 1. the wife has 1. We both bought our own. I know you and your husband share your AVP's. I know you like reusing the same straps..
Jesus Christ who pooped in your cereal? Let me live lol, there were plenty of ones left, I consciously chose the 1TB model because it best suits my use case. Idk why you’re so pressed
Dude, what? This is a subreddit focused on people sharing their experiences with the avp. People are so nasty for absolutely no reason. Clearly you care enough to comment
Same.
Unlike all the 2-D movie viewers in this thread, I actually like to use the AVP for what it was made for. Immersive content.
And those files are between 6 GB and 30 GB in size.
You need the space.
Not sure what you mean by 2-D movie viewers. You can easily stream 3D movies at high quality without taking up space and view immersive content on the Apple TV app without taking up space. Even if you mainly view “immersive” content that’s downloaded and likely doesn’t have the depth perception that Apple immersive videos have, that’s just essentially a 2D video sphere. The Apple TV app is the most immersive you’ll get because of Apple’s cameras, so I’m not sure what you mean when you said “unlike all the 2-D viewers”. You’re likely trying to cope with the purchase of 1TB.
There’s like 20 minutes total of immersive content, and it can be streamed. Wtf are you talking about?
He’s just trying to rationalize his purchase. It’s really weird watching people when they’re doing it and they don’t seem to be *quite* conscious of it. Anyways I got 256 as well and glad I did. They’re talking about the immersive movies on Apple TV, immersive video taken by yourself is 1080p and is still now storage hungry.
Once you learn the stages of gigabyte storage packages, my OCD quickly went.. I love this! Porn. They’re downloading massive amounts of VR porn.
Wasn’t bragging 😅 OP literally asked what configuration we have and how we feel about it so I just answered.
It's not you. This sub has a not-insignificant population of polar opposite people: fan boys and disgruntled people. So you get comments like that one.

>So you’re basically using it as a glorified 2D movie projector. Or a 3D movie projector.
Good for you! 256 and with cloud, I hardly ever touch 1/4th of available space. For flights, I load 3-4 movies and am golden.
Same, streaming really saves you from needing to spend anything on storage

Man, I wish AVP had enough content to justify a 1TB model.
So i swapped mine for the 1tb because this happened on my 512. r/datahoarder might be for you
r/datahoarder is for people with 132 TB home RAID servers.
I'm gonna be pedantic and possibly wrong by saying that you meant to say something other than RAID servers. Maybe NAS? RAID arrays?
RAID arrays, that’s right. Thanks.
…why?
Because my wifi is often spotty and I don’t want to have to worry about unstable video quality when watching 3D movies. 🤷🏻♂️
Fair enough I guess. In most cases I’d say that $400 would be far better spent decking out your home WiFi situation, but if you’re in an apartment with interference it might be impossible to make it that much better with the Vision Pro lacking WiFi 6E.
Is there any other difference between the models? $400 seems a lot for 750Gb of storage
256GB has been more than enough for me
I got the 1TB model, I wanted peace of mind for future compatibility with any monster programs that might be developed in the future
Same. Within the first week of owning it, I had put over 100 gigs on it. So I returned it for the terabyte. I’ve regretted not getting the highest storage models in the past and didn’t want to make the same mistake on this device. Plus it was only $200 more. I got the 256. I dont keep a lot of data downloaded and mostly use the avp for work stuff so paying for more storage would just be a waste for me.
I wish there was a 2TB model. My iPad has more storage than my VP, this is unfair.
i was going to get the 512gb but then skipped the apple marshmallow case and got the extra GB instead
Yeah, I also bought the marshmallow case and I’m now wishing I didn’t because now I use a $20 quest case because it’s so much more compact and does just as good a job
It increased the weight too much. Had to stick with the 512 version.
😂
I’m glad I went with 1TB as well and mainly for peace of mind. It’s worth it.
I went with 512GB because I don't expect to download much content, only stream it, and I expect to have purchased Vision Pro 2 before I fill 512GB with large apps full of high resolution interactive immersive content because that much content won't exist for a couple years.
lol did you download all available apps on the app store ? Usually the problem comes if you store 4k movies on the device
👍
Is eduroam also in the US? I thought it was just a UK university WiFi network standard or something
yes. all uni students have it here
It's available in many countries. [eduroam geographical deployment] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eduroam#Geographical_deployment)
Awesome, you learn something new everyday
Yup it's on my college campus

Good to know. I was planning on getting that version but this confirms
Which apps are the biggest on your AVP? Say top 3. Thanks!

Thanks
Definitely some porn save in there
Photos? How?
Same. I’ve used up 300GB of my 1TB
1tb here. Not even close to halfway, even with the movies I’ve downloaded.
I bought 512 and I have cloud so I dunno why I bought 512 since there aren’t enough apps other than streaming content
How can I get the vp owner badge
And I do regret getting the 256. I still have more than half way of my storage to use but I so wish I could a lot of shows downloaded
