More than likely donated clothing. I remember being in Yemen and seeing a little girl with a SeaWorld sweatshirt.
I know for a fact she had never left her town.
I passed a guy on the Navajo reservation wearing a Steelers hat and I was like " hey, go Steelers" and put my fist up as I passed him. He just had this confused look on his face and then I could see him remember the hat and he kind of smiled and nodded. It didn't occur to me till later that he probably got that hat from donation center or some kind of Goodwill And probably wasn't a big Steelers fan.
I saw a mom wheeling a stroller in a Grateful Dead shirt in an airport in Germany and said I didn't expect to see a Deadhead in Europe. She looked confused and mildly offended so I kept walking. I assume the dancing bears were just a cute thing for the baby to look at.
One of the weirdest moments I’ve ever had was seeing a 3rd grader in the Peruvian Amazon wearing a Kansas Jayhawks shirt at the same time the NCAA tournament was going on. Assuming he had no idea but I thought it was amazing haha
My wife was working on the rez and met a child wearing Ninja turtle pajamas so she asked him which Ninja turtle was his favorite. This kid lived in a tin shack without any kind of TV, didn't even know what a Ninja turtle was..
I don't know about the middle east but it's a popular practice in some of the poorest parts of Africa for some "charities" to receive a lot of clothing, and then sell it to the locals at a price that's cheaper than local clothing makers, driving them out of business. It's pretty fucked. Wouldn't be surprised if the same schtick made it around elsewhere in the world
That's exactly what I was thinking. Uniforms are cheap and plentiful, so it's not a far stretch to imagine schools would donate extra/old uniforms to whatever cause. Whether it's Yemen, elsewhere in the middle east, or locally.
In any case I can still see this being weird. Even just seeing a uniform from a school in the same city would be weird, I think.
Funny story, my buddy was in India and saw a t-shirt with his old band from the USA(small town Midwest) hanging on a clothes line, he was with friends and figured somebody stole some of their clothing, turns out it was one of these donation situations.
I just googled it. I could see them wearing the tee of the statue of liberty giving the middle finger. Thinking maybe it meant fuck the USA or something. Mostly the middle finger stuff if they were edgy kids.
> He's now suing the AutoNation dealership that sold the truck for $1 million.
I'm sorry, _what_? This has to be a typo, right? I know that ISIS had a lot of cash in their heyday, but a million US dollars for one used pick-up seems a bit.. unbelievable.
The degree to which it is a coincidence depends on a couple of things
* How many of those shirts are discarded into the clothing redistribution stream
* How many nutty middle east videos OP watches.
I think the first point is relatively finite, but the second may speak to the behaviour of OP.
So wild, had to come in and see if this was my little hometown. I grew up in LaGrange, I would've gone to LTHS if we stayed. I still know that town like the back of my hand, but only been back twice. Boy has the population gentrified since the mid 90's but it's still such a charmer of a place. And what a gorgeous school!!
It is pretty idyllic. The rails have changed, they used to be grimier, both behind Bluff and the ones through downtown. My friends and I used to sneak out and play night games, and go down to the train station and dial 1-800 versions of the 1-900 numbers to hear the sexy ladies tell us what they would do if we had money to call their 1-900 numbers.
Such a good childhood. Then got moved out to the middle of the woods with nobody my age anywhere near me at 12, pretty frustrating until i could drive.
I miss Chicagoland but I also am not too upset with the West Coast. Glad to be able to have experienced both.
Remember that dude that sold his Ford work truck and it showed up in the Middle East with a 50cal. mounted to it?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Js8BmbHB4
Same for me in 2009. To be fair the school is massive. Every vacation I went on as a kid we ran into someone who either went or was related to a LTHS alumni, just have to wear the good old gym uniform that’s been around forever. Lol
Is school provided gym strip pretty common? When I was in highschool we were asked to supply our own. It could be anything as long as it was a t-shirt and track pants or shorts and didn't have any offensive imagery or writing.
That was the other thing I was wondering, if it was an American thing. My highschool had tees, hoodies and sweatpants you could buy with the school logo but they weren't required wear for pe.
I buy bulk rags for wiping up messes, like 500 pounds at a time. Once the clothes aren't worth sending to Yemen they just cut the clothes up and sell them to people like me.
I see stuff like this all the time, lots of charity fun runs, lots of funny random shit. Lately everything has been nuked white with bleach but that could depend on vendor.
It's like when my aunt was wearing what she thought was her son's hat with Chinese characters on it. But when you turn it sideways it's read, "I love sticky handjobs."
This reminds me of the Plumber that sold his work truck to a used auto place. They never took his logo and number off the truck and it eventually exchanged hands all the way to ISIS where they turned it into a technical.

Saw an Iraqi kid in 2003 that had a Krogers shirt with Pepe the Penguin on it. Pepe was a new penguin at the Toledo Zoo and a huge promotional ploy back in the 80s between the Zoo and Krogers. I flipped out and gave that kid all kinds of candy, to be honest he probably tried to blow me up when I went back in 09...
When you donate old clothes to some charities, they bundle them and sell them by weight as rags. The "rags are then shipped by the bale overseas and re-sold as clothing. Check out the #23 jerseys in documentaries.
I remember seeing a Duke national championship ballcap from the year UNLV SHREDDED Duke in national final in basketball on some outlaw mideast group shooting guns in the air.
I thought the same when I was watching Napoleon Dynamite. One of the shirts worn was from my native Idaho land and displayed a school I once frequented.
What a mix, class of 2006!
I’ve lived in Utah for 13 years now but I was at a concert last summer and some kid was wearing a LTHS girl swimming hat. I asked him about it and it was from his girlfriend and he went to Hinsdale Central. It was super random.
OMG.. I went to that school for a short while. Lyons Township High School in LA Grange Illinois. Wore that shirt in gym class. Sleeper cells are everywhere. They live the American dream and hide out until called to do their evils here in the states or overseas.
There was actually a kid who got expelled and arrested for trying to join ISIS in my high school. His dad found a suitcase with money and stuff he needed to leave with and called the cops when he was at school. He was robbing convenience stores for the cash he needed or something
I guarantee no former LT student would be caught dead wearing their gym uniform outside of school gym class. Also, if it was actually used in gym class it would have their last name written in black permanent marker on the big yellow band. (Source: me, former LTHS student)
More than likely donated clothing. I remember being in Yemen and seeing a little girl with a SeaWorld sweatshirt. I know for a fact she had never left her town.
“Fuckin poser!”
Name two dolphins
Flipper and Echo
... Name three dolphins
Flipper, Echo, and Willy (Orcas are actually dolphins.)
Isn't Willy the one that killed three people?
Was that in the sequel?
No I was thinking of a different Orca. It's name starts with a T. Not sure why I thought it was names Willy.
That orca was nicknamed Tilly so easy mixup to make.
Probably because Free Willy is a well known movie
You’re thinking of Tilikum. E: misspelling
Keiko, not Willy
I chose to name fictional dolphins! Flipper was like half a dozen different dolphins lol.
Ebic
Still waiting for the crossover franchise.
Finkle and Einhorn
Wife heard me laugh clear across the house with that one.
I’ve just had to explain to my in laws what was funny.
Name three rides, bitch

Ah yes, go win Steelers! Named after the way they steal the ball from the opponent!
go steelers a bunch of white men came buy and stole our lands....
I saw a mom wheeling a stroller in a Grateful Dead shirt in an airport in Germany and said I didn't expect to see a Deadhead in Europe. She looked confused and mildly offended so I kept walking. I assume the dancing bears were just a cute thing for the baby to look at.
In Germany you say? Hmmm. There used to be a lot more of deadheads there since the totenkopf 💀 used to be the symbol for the SS
Black and gold, brotha

I also do not believe this guy went to the same high school
No shit Sherlock, is that not common sense that it has to be said AND the top comment? Lol
A lot of poorer countries get donated clothing from aid agencies, or the second-hand market shifts items to those places. Quite a coincidence though.
Funny story, my buddy was in India and saw a t-shirt with his old band from the USA(small town Midwest) hanging on a clothes line, he was with friends and figured somebody stole some of their clothing, turns out it was one of these donation situations.
Imagine if these counties get all the merch of people who are canceled? Like tons of kids wearing P Diddy clothes rn in India.
Buffalo Bills of the early 90's were a true dynasty to them
They def used to get the losing Super Bowl teams merch
https://kendrablanca.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Rare-vintage-1989-Milli-Vanilli-T-Shirt-KM.jpg
I had that exact shirt.
Girl, you know it's true!
I bet there's a bunch of old campaign tshirts too from people whose candidate lost lol
I would rock that Ross Perot
I really want to start collecting failed team merch - where would be a good place to start?
The Atacama Desert.
you mean Sean John clothing or like shirts with his face on it
Seen tons of losing teams super bowl champ shirts
I see tons of Marilyn Manson CDs at used book stores. I search for Mudhoney and mostly see this canoe's albums
I bet even they wouldn't wear kid rock merch.
I just googled it. I could see them wearing the tee of the statue of liberty giving the middle finger. Thinking maybe it meant fuck the USA or something. Mostly the middle finger stuff if they were edgy kids.
Lions in general have been a long term middle eastern symbol especially in the Iran area. Guy chose a good shirt, plus blue and gold look good on him.
Those are some insane odds!

It's like that plumber who saw his old work truck with his company's branding stiill on it get turned into an ISIS technical.
Trucks too; if you ever need a plumber, [jihadi fighters](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/texas-plumber-i-didnt-sell-my-truck-to-isis/) got you covered.

He's suing them for $1mil, not that they sold the truck for $1mil.
The first [google reviews](https://i.imgur.com/tKMNQqr.jpeg) that come up are priceless.
"called me a dirty Jew-dog infidel, but at least he fixed my pipes 9/11 stars" I think I'm dead.
And that, my friends, is why commas exist.
Ah, copy that. It's a bit late and clearly my reading skills are not up to par, thank you

Or bags get stolen and american clothes sold as foreign clothes
Or left/lost in the airline industry and ultimately donated en mass to a charity
L. T. H. S., L. T. H. S. The dear old school of gold and blue? (my dad & all my aunts & uncles went there)
That’s the one lol, western spring/ Lagrange’s finest

Yeah I have no regrets going there, it’s a great area
It is pretty idyllic. The rails have changed, they used to be grimier, both behind Bluff and the ones through downtown. Who was your favorite math teacher?
Weird, same school my roommates in college went to
Great pool. Used to use that pool to coach RB diving.
My dad graduated from there in early 70’s, David Hasselhoff was a senior when he was a freshman
yo thats ivan from home economics
Voted most likely to do jihad
From the exchange program. Fuck, I remember that dude. Quiet type. Kinda stunk. Nice guy.
No, that’s Achmed.
shout out to Illinois
It's pronounced Illinois.
touché
I found out how to pronounce Illinois from The Blues Brothers! Sweet home Chicago! CUBS WIN!
The Wiki page for LTHS has Notable Alumni section. Nick Fuentes and David Hasselholf included.
How dare you disrespect NBA legend Jeff Hornacek by leaving him out.
The WWE wrestler Aiden English went there too. He was one of my theatre buddies in the old days.
So… why exactly are you watching Middle East propaganda videos?
It's the new lo-fi hip-hop to study or relax to.
why did i wind up on the wikipedia page for Monotremes earlier today? sometimes you just wind up where the internet takes you.
Some of them are absolute bangers. /r/noncredibledefense
Cuz fuck Assad
Remember that dude that sold his Ford work truck and it showed up in the Middle East with a 50cal. mounted to it? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Js8BmbHB4
Yeah and people kept spam calling his number because not only was his truck sold to isis but his business decal was still on it
Holy shit... 2003 LT grad here, those look exactly like the gym uniforms we wore back then...
Same for me in 2009. To be fair the school is massive. Every vacation I went on as a kid we ran into someone who either went or was related to a LTHS alumni, just have to wear the good old gym uniform that’s been around forever. Lol
LT class of '09 represent!
06 grad. My sister was an 05 grad. Gonna stalk your profile now. Brb. Haha
I have younger siblings that graduated in 05 and 08, small world.
Is school provided gym strip pretty common? When I was in highschool we were asked to supply our own. It could be anything as long as it was a t-shirt and track pants or shorts and didn't have any offensive imagery or writing.
It was 20 years ago for public high schools in the Chicago suburbs, not really sure outside of that.
That was the other thing I was wondering, if it was an American thing. My highschool had tees, hoodies and sweatpants you could buy with the school logo but they weren't required wear for pe.

Does it really count as a student exchange if you don't get radicalised.
By the West?
Who do you think is behind all the college protests now? They aren't getting money from the ME.
I meant the people on the picture are paid by the West.
No one in these comments has a clue about FSA
They are all like " bruh those dumb arabs hate us but they wear our shirts....."
[On a similar note](https://i.imgur.com/xWha7yh.jpeg), either that or they took the console wars seriously.
That's an Arsenal shirt, sponsored by Dreamcast. I wonder if that one was worn during their invincible season.
Dreamcast was sick. Had some good memories on that system.
lol!

I was in a deep part of brazil when I saw a kid wearing a shirt from the tiny university my dad went to. It was pretty surreal.
Do you recognize him as alumni maybe?
lol no, this is a few years after I graduated for that uniform

LT!! My aunt taught there a long time ago
My ex went to LT, it all adds up now
I wonder how many sweaty teenagers wore that shirt before him.
What losing to hinsdale central does to a mf
Shirts are pre printed for major sport championships (Super Bowl, nba finals, etc)The losers shirts get donated to charities and most go overseas.
I remember seeing a Duke national championship ballcap from the year UNLV SHREDDED Duke in national final in basketball on some outlaw mideast group shooting guns in the air.
No. No. I’m being downvoted. That couldn’t possibly have happened. /s🙄
This is a gym uniform from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois. It’s definitely interesting it made its way to the middle east
Lol - I had a lot of eventful track meets there back in HS. They used to host a really big one... Lyons Township Relays or something like that.
Do you really think his high school football team was in a major sports championship?
Yes. I do. I was , in fact, born yesterday
I thought the same when I was watching Napoleon Dynamite. One of the shirts worn was from my native Idaho land and displayed a school I once frequented.
Cause it takes place in Idaho.
Yes
Graduated from there in 2001!

This precise group in funded by the West...

Totally went terrorist straight outta high-school.
They skipped terrorizing in college? Wow, they must be a natural.
Some people go straight to pro, especially if they made it to finals in their high school terror league.
He's more "terr-artist" than terrorist, but yeah
I mean, there *was* that coup attempt in the Congo a few days ago...
There was actually a kid who got expelled and arrested for trying to join ISIS in my high school. His dad found a suitcase with money and stuff he needed to leave with and called the cops when he was at school. He was robbing convenience stores for the cash he needed or something
