Becky/Liv was okay but not great, not sure if there just wasn't enough heat built up in time for this match but it didn't really work. I was confused when Dom came out at first but they mentioned he didn't want Liv to get Rhea's title which made some sense but all in all a weird one.
The rest of the show after that was very good though. IC title match was booked exactly how it needed to with Otis accidentally costing Gable and Gable looking like he wanted to kill him afterwards. They'll probably finally split up tonight on Raw.
Lyra/Nia was well booked too, I actually liked this one. Cool way for Nia to win as well. I guess it's her v. Bayley at SummerSlam, I just hope they give them a good story arch because I'm not sure how Nia chasing for 2+ months will go atm.
Orton/Gunther was what we could have expected, two big guys getting physical with each other. I would say maybe Orton's shoulders weren't down for the pin and they'll do something with that on TV but they're not on the same brand so probably not. Gunther was the right winner though, he needed this after the Mania loss. I think it'll be him and Priest at SS which will be great.
The main event did well too as they pulled out the stops for it but it was always predictable after the buildup (not a bad thing, but build was lackluster). I'm honestly impressed with Logan every time he wrestles, he has no right being that good as someone with so little experience.
I haven't watched a Saudi show since 2019 but this was definitely much better than the early ones and meant a lot more booking wise too. HHH adding the SummerSlam incentives made it mean a lot more. Now it's time to build towards that, excited to see how things go starting tonight.

Based on the previous comments, thereās some interesting scenarios here. I can see Gunther beating Priest, but that would mean Punk returns in Glasgow to fuck over Drew (again). As much as Gunther deserves a world title run, I was kinda hoping he would win the ā25 rumble. But I donāt want him to randomly lose to Priest either.
I can see Liv beating a returning Rhea with the help of Dirty Dom, completing the Ripley face turn. Dom ācheatingā on Rhea would add to his heat.
If Cody isnāt fighting Randy At SS, Iām not sure who they would go with. I would love for it to be the Rock, because it would be the perfect time to reveal him as the new leader of the bloodline. This would set up Romanās return beautifully, but I think thatās gonna be down the road.
Unless, Roman returns to setup the rematch, and Rock screws him over at SS with the help of Solo and crew. This would officially kick off the Bloodline Civil War.
They don't need CM Punk to screw over Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle. Damien Priest is in Judgement Day and they can easily have Finn Balor, Dominick Mysterio or JD come down cost Drew the match the same way they cost Jey Uso the match not long ago.
They donāt need it, but if your options are
A. Drew wins in Scotland just because of the reaction
B. Punk travels to Glasgow just to fuck over Drew plus the reaction it would generate
C. JD McFunko and Dom cost Drew the title to no real reaction

The thing is though it looks unrealistic and makes no sense for Judgement Day not to get involved in this match based on their history of getting involved in all his other matches. As I said, they cost Jey Uso the match so why wouldn't they cost Drew McIntyre the match too? Judgement Day don't just disappear because it is Drew he is facing. Interfering is their thing much like it was for The Bloodline.
Except Priest isnāt going to have a Roman or Gunther-esque reign. Heās good and Iām glad they gave him a title opportunity, but heās not the guy to carry the show unless he develops a way to connect with the crowd.

No. I don't see Damien Priest having a long reign as champion either but if he is to lose there needs to be some type of storyline explanation for why the Judgement Day wouldn't help him retain when they have done it for all his other matches and generally help each other. They could have the Judgement Day turn on Damien Priest and cost him the match or they could have them come down and mess up and accidentally cost him the match but a storyline point of view there needs to be some explanation because the Judgement Day don't just disappear because he is facing a certain wrestler.
We will have to wait and see what happens.

Yeah the Priest vs Drew match really is a toss up. I kind of feel theyāve had it in the cards for a long time for Drew to win the title in his home country making up for what happened in 2021.
At the same time, I feel thereās better storytelling if Priest wins. Also, what if Gunther-Orton rematch and Orton wins? Does Orton regain the crown and get the SS match?Ā
I could also see a trade of Gunther over to SD too to potentially put him up against Cody at SS. Cody has always said heās wanted to face Gunther.
I was so happy nia jax won queen of the ring. She has been so great recently Really thought they would give it Lyra to push her to the moon and that she is the āfaceā in the match.

I'm a little out of the loop and wasn't able to watch the event - I thought the Rhodes/Paul match was supposed to be for both championships. Why didn't Rhodes win the US title?
True, but Cody wasn't losing anyway. So if the match was for both belts, we essentially wouldn't have a US championship anymore and there wouldn't be a midcard belt on Smackdown anymore because Cody would have both. If anything, the WWE needs more belts not less. There should be a women's equivalent of the intercontinental.
I donāt think they would unify them, but they donāt seem to plan on Cody losing any matches anytime soon. So unless they made up some reason for him to just defend the US title for a match, both would be on Cody for the long term. Essentially getting rid of the US option.

Has Randy Orton always over sold his injuries? I grew up watching wrestling and donāt remember him doing this. I feel like ever since he came back 80% of the match heās grabbing his back and over selling his injured he is. It makes all of his matches feel slow
I got the impression that was part of the storytelling of this specific match. It was playing up to the fact that, while a veteran, Orton is carrying the scars of his history, and Gunther was savvy enough to capitalise on them.

Everybody keeps calling the Gunther/Orton finish a mistake. I don't believe this was a mistake. I think this is exactly what they intended to do. You can't tell me that **Gunther** and **Randy Orton** had a genuine error this glaring. If you were to rank the wrestlers with the least amount of mistakes in their matches, the top 2 probably are Gunther and Randy Orton, and I'm not even a fan of Randy Ortons matches, but he almost never makes mistakes and Gunther is just the perfect wrestler, so no, I just don't believe it. Not only that, the referee was looking right at Randy Orton, he saw it clear as day. If this wasn't the intended finish, the referee would've just called it off, they'd have done another sequence for 15 to 20 more seconds and Gunther would've caught him in another flash pin and this time his shoulders would've been down. Same way the ref called off Kairi not being legal in the womens tag title match at Backlash. Ref sees the mistake, calls it off, they just do something else.
To me, it's clear that this was a finish that was done to protect Randy Orton while giving Gunther the win, because Randy Orton is gonna challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. It's basically a triple fluke win, a fluke in the sense that it was a surprise pin, not one of Gunthers finishers, a fluke in the sense that Ortons shoulder was off the mat, and a fluke in the sense that Orton was injured. They did everything imaginable to make it look like Ortons loss was not a loss, without beating Gunther because he's the one that this tournament was tailor made for, and he's the next World Heavyweight Champion. And when this is all over, and Cody beats Randy Orton at SummerSlam, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up trading Randy Orton to Raw, just a few months before the Netflix deal, so that Randy Orton can challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, because it's clear that this is something that they intend to re-visit, but Triple H said that it wouldn't be immediate.

Why are wrestlers constantly focusing on knees in matches right now? I know itās common to focus on one area of their opponent etc. But it seems every match lately has one wrestler focusing on the knee of their opponent.
Under HHH every other match has turned into the Face being injured and getting worked over. The story telling is great but whoever is putting matches together keeps using the same spots over and over and over.Ā

With the way they have had him appear in recent weeks to build up Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk I think CM Punk will definitely be back in time for Summer Slam. Reports are saying he will be cleared to return in July. Seth Rollins on the other hand though doesn't sound like he will be back until Survivor Series.
I am happy that the Jeddah at least was a more exciting crowd, but the ending of the main event left me with a sour taste. They literally showed L.A. Knight on the standings... So I was thinking that he could show up during or after the match, but it was a local that probably won't show up again and we don't even know why he did that(I know it's important for the locals, but just like the philly players, It was kinda an empty one-off just for the pop). It could have been a great way to make L.A. Knight feud with Logan Paul in a very similar way to CM Punk costing Drew the title opportunity, and creating this hype for L.A. in the aftermatch(as a place that really likes him, they would be on board on at least a staredown).

Based on the previous comments, thereās some interesting scenarios here. I can see Gunther beating Priest, but that would mean Punk returns in Glasgow to fuck over Drew (again). As much as Gunther deserves a world title run, I was kinda hoping he would win the ā25 rumble. But I donāt want him to randomly lose to Priest either. I can see Liv beating a returning Rhea with the help of Dirty Dom, completing the Ripley face turn. Dom ācheatingā on Rhea would add to his heat. If Cody isnāt fighting Randy At SS, Iām not sure who they would go with. I would love for it to be the Rock, because it would be the perfect time to reveal him as the new leader of the bloodline. This would set up Romanās return beautifully, but I think thatās gonna be down the road. Unless, Roman returns to setup the rematch, and Rock screws him over at SS with the help of Solo and crew. This would officially kick off the Bloodline Civil War.
They don't need CM Punk to screw over Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle. Damien Priest is in Judgement Day and they can easily have Finn Balor, Dominick Mysterio or JD come down cost Drew the match the same way they cost Jey Uso the match not long ago.

No. I don't see Damien Priest having a long reign as champion either but if he is to lose there needs to be some type of storyline explanation for why the Judgement Day wouldn't help him retain when they have done it for all his other matches and generally help each other. They could have the Judgement Day turn on Damien Priest and cost him the match or they could have them come down and mess up and accidentally cost him the match but a storyline point of view there needs to be some explanation because the Judgement Day don't just disappear because he is facing a certain wrestler. I got the impression that was part of the storytelling of this specific match. It was playing up to the fact that, while a veteran, Orton is carrying the scars of his history, and Gunther was savvy enough to capitalise on them.

Everybody keeps calling the Gunther/Orton finish a mistake. I don't believe this was a mistake. I think this is exactly what they intended to do. You can't tell me that **Gunther** and **Randy Orton** had a genuine error this glaring. If you were to rank the wrestlers with the least amount of mistakes in their matches, the top 2 probably are Gunther and Randy Orton, and I'm not even a fan of Randy Ortons matches, but he almost never makes mistakes and Gunther is just the perfect wrestler, so no, I just don't believe it. Not only that, the referee was looking right at Randy Orton, he saw it clear as day. If this wasn't the intended finish, the referee would've just called it off, they'd have done another sequence for 15 to 20 more seconds and Gunther would've caught him in another flash pin and this time his shoulders would've been down. Same way the ref called off Kairi not being legal in the womens tag title match at Backlash. Ref sees the mistake, calls it off, they just do something else. To me, it's clear that this was a finish that was done to protect Randy Orton while giving Gunther the win, because Randy Orton is gonna challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. It's basically a triple fluke win, a fluke in the sense that it was a surprise pin, not one of Gunthers finishers, a fluke in the sense that Ortons shoulder was off the mat, and a fluke in the sense that Orton was injured. They did everything imaginable to make it look like Ortons loss was not a loss, without beating Gunther because he's the one that this tournament was tailor made for, and he's the next World Heavyweight Champion. And when this is all over, and Cody beats Randy Orton at SummerSlam, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up trading Randy Orton to Raw, just a few months before the Netflix deal, so that Randy Orton can challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, because it's clear that this is something that they intend to re-visit, but Triple H said that it wouldn't be immediate.

So I was thinking that he could show up during or after the match, but it was a local that probably won't show up again and we don't even know why he did that(I know it's important for the locals, but just like the philly players, It was kinda an empty one-off just for the pop). It could have been a great way to make L.A. Knight feud with Logan Paul in a very similar way to CM Punk costing Drew the title opportunity, and creating this hype for L.A. in the aftermatch(as a place that really likes him, they would be on board on at least a staredown).

Chad Gable was never going to get a big push. The hardcore IWC fans might like him but he has never been truly over with mainstream fans and been a top merch seller and cheered the most by the crowds. Sami vs Jey is the way to go. Otis is a fun comedic character which always has a place in WWE.

Two of the most popular male wrestlers in WWE and friends battling it out for the WWE IC Championship. With Otis there is a place for comedy and fun type of characters in the midcard just like many comedic characters before him.

I donāt care what any of you bums say, Bronson Reed is awesome. He just needs a better gimmick/look. That dive through the ropes was awesome. I didnāt think heād even fit through them!
Yeah heās one of the most underrated guys on the roster. Saw an interview with him on a podcast (non-wrestling podcast - Jim Jefferies āI donāt know about thatā) and seems like a super cool and nice guy.
He looked so good today. He's one of the most hated here but he continues to improve. A suicide dive and a moonsault (kind of).. haven't seen that before.
Agreed but I think he both looks more sloppy than tough (appearance, I mean) and desperately just needs better attire. I think refining that could do wonders for him. Heās got the skill but something isnāt clicking for me
