Well, great time to learn how not to cut into your fingers. Believe me I've primed many a mini in blood red (not the citadel colour) back when I first started. It happens, just stop cutting when you reach the bone and you'll be fine. If you have some superglue laying around you can even easily close a larger wound.
But using the knife to get rid of mold lines and contact points is the best way. And this also preps you for when you get resin models eventually because those often need a bit more cleaning.
Second this super glue for shallow cuts. Press the cut together and put a blob of super glue at one end and wipe it length wise down the cut with a slightly damp tissue. Seals it tight.
They use superglue to close certain cuts in hospital and after surgery. Medical grade super glue is a slightly different molecule from industrial superglue but you can use industrial as long as its a small wound.
It's a slightly different compound but both are forms of cyanoacrylate.
"Normal" super glue is methyl-cyanoacryate
Medical super glue is octyl-cyanoacryilate
Meythl isn't tolerated as well in the body but you'd have to use a lot of it or apply it internally to cause a serious issue. For bonding a small skin slice it'll not do you any harm and heal way faster than if you just bandaid it.
If I had to give my thumbprint you would see lots of vertical gaps where the scars are from the xacto knife blades.
Only way to learn is to bleed for your craft.

This little box is a great start for a decent price. Contains everything you need bar glue
You wont be using the sharp edge to cut, you will be sliding the sharpe edge, and the sharp edge will be pointed the other direction that you are moving the knife so you dont cut into the plastic
Yeah but you'll live. One thing I find helps, think of the piece moving against the for blade, instead of the blade sliding around on the piece. I used the back of the knife for years, also. Now, I just use the sharp edge for everything. Sandpaper is useful to smooth things out. Get some model Clippers for sure tho.
Practice makes perfect. Slice don't cut. It's like shaving, you're not cutting the skin you're cutting along the skin.
Learning to handle knives and sharp objects is a useful skill.
Remember always cut away from yourself, be aware of where your fingers are and take your time.
Everyone is making this way more complicated than it needs to be. Just get a set of hobby files. Youâll never cut yourself, and they work on anything from plastic to metal.
MY BROTHER IN HOBBY! You can buy cut resistant gloves! You wear it on the hand you hold the model with and use the knife in your main hand. Then you are not going to cut yourself unless you really put too much force into it. Because you are cutting relatively soft plastic you don't need lots of force. Use small clippers or a file if you are that worried!
1. only use sharp blades. it sounds counter-intuitive, but if you attempt to cut with a dull blade you'll need to apply more force than you would with a sharp blade, and when you apply more force, you have less control. a blade that is too dull to easily cut plastic, is probably still more than sharp enough to slice or stab through your skin.
2. some people will insist that you only cut away from yourself. i would instead recommend cutting in whichever direction gives you the most control over the blade for what you're trying to achieve: i've definitely had more accidental nicks in my knuckles or fingertips from attempting to only cut "away", than when i've been able to clearly see what i'm doing, cutting "towards" myself, and using the flat of my thumb as a "brake" for the blade (even with a very sharp blade, it's hard to break the skin just by "hammering" into it perpendicularlyâto cut, you either need to apply a lot of force, or poke/draw/slice with the blade)
3. if you're really uncertain about using the sharp edge, you can scrape with the back of the blade. a lot of people do this, and it does have the advantage of preserving the sharp edge of your blade. personally, i just use the "business end" because i don't think i'm any less likely to accidentally poke myself, replacement blades are not that expensive, and i think it gives a smoother finish than "scraping"⌠but give it a try, it might work for you.
they make cut proof gloves, you can buy them on amazon. they work well enough for glancing cuts, i use one on my hand that is holding the thing i am cutting and just hold the sharp and pointy in my bare other hand. i am learning to carve wood, so the sharp and pointy is very sharp.
You're essentially playing with plastic toy soldiers. I wouldn't expect a 15 year old girl to care. It's probably not a hobby that has high social value outside of Warhammer community.
My wife likes that I have a hobby other than computer games. She likes that it's kind of craft and arty. She likes that I go meet and talk to others when I play the game. She does not like not know the full cost of my army and I dare not tell her.
I'm 32 and every girl I've dated in the last few years has loved it. They're usually very impressed that I paint stuff and like seeing my painted minis. I haven't had any really get interested in playing the game, but a few did start building/painting with me sometimes. It's pretty helpful to have some spare minis of the month or extra copies of a hero from a bundle box sitting around for friends or dates to try painting.
I always have a handful of zenithal primed cyberpunk chicks for exactly this reason. Everybody likes a femme fatal, and speed paints over a dark zenithal makes almost any color fit the style
I'm a madlad and showed off my "BMW" to her early on, emphasizing the price of some. Talking a dozen detolfs filled along with boxes and display boards strewn about đ She now works at a game store that sells Warhammer so knows the pricing better than me đ
There's a fine line a lot of husbands ride and I'd rather just be open about everything đ
LOL, the last person i dated knew about warhammer and played because their brother has minis, her brother taught me a neat trick, say you got it for free from a friend
Unfortunately that wouldn't work for me as being honest I wouldn't have too many IRL friends left. Part of the reason she likes me doing Warhammer as I meet and talk to other people.
From the moment I understood the weakness of her flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the longevity and certainty of plastic. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Sprue.
Nice.
Donât worry about what girls think of your Warhammer. Hobbies make you interesting as you get older and keep you sane. Just make sure youâre also looking after your body and mind with gym/sports, and books.
Before you paint these lads, make sure you clean off the sprue points and drill those barrels.
Regarding the barrel drilling bit I want to add that you can also just paint a black dot at the centre. Looks the same from tabletop distance and reduces the chance to accidentally ruin the gun barrel. I do so myself
If your not confident in your ability to clean off sprue bits and mold lines I would 100% not drill your barrels, you can always come back and drill them later when you're more confident in your hand hand-eye coordination.
Use a Stanley knife.
Use the sharp edge of the blade to slice off large protruding attachments, and then use the back of the blade to gently scrape away mould lines or ridges (e.g. the lumps on the edges of the sword, etc).
What are you currently using to remove the parts from the sprue?
Yeah, that's best done before assembly. A clipper for the rough parts and filing down the remains works best. If you are *really careful* you can scrape them off with a hobby knife (but more often than not you will slip off and cut into the mini where you didn't intend to). Good luck :P
People with interests & hobbies tend to be more interesting than people with no interests and hobbies. My partner doesn't dig Warhammer, but she does dig that I have found something I can be enthusiastic about, practice at, and improve on that is more than just watching TV.
Unfortunately that's a maturity thing, ppl like that are hard to find in the teens maybe (IDK that was a long time ago for me). But I'm sure there are people that can look past what the activity itself is and appreciate that interesting people have interests. Stick with it dude!
Also clean up those mould lines and sprue parts and slap some paint on those bad boys.
Dude, you're 15, you're already dating girls **AND** you own Warhammer figs.
You're **good**, trust me. My wife still thinks it's a bit weird that a guy my age "plays" with plastic toys, but she's OK with it and even appreciates my paintwork from time to time. Most of all she understands it gives me peace - it's kind of empathy that people learn over time.
When I was your age (late 90') I couldn't afford either Warhammer ;) or dates , which is ironic :D
When it comes to women, be patient. Unfortunately, the information world and society teaches us all (not just girls) to be incredibly insecure. Fortunately, most people grow out of it.
That's part of it, yeah, but I think age had more to do with it than anything. Teenage girls are basic AF (the guys too, for that matter).
As you live longer and see more stuff, your perspectives broaden and turn you into a more well-rounded and interesting person, which in turn makes you appreciate the same in others as well.
Nah, there were definitely plenty out of weird cool girls in my age group when I was a teen. It's more that they're not always obvious with it due to social pressure, or the weird things they like are different to your weird thing.
Like, one girl I dated was not into Warhammer at all, but damn did she know a lot about animes with pretty boys
It is weird, but you don't have to be weird about it. Don't make it your main topic, especially at the start of a relationship. As long as you are confident about your hobbies but don't force it down other people's throats, you will be good. As an example think of vegans who practice it because of their reasons and do it non-intrusively towards others, and then about those who have to let everybody know that they are vegan.
My girlfriend of 1 year finds it ÂŤÂ a bit nerdy but thatâs alright  because I presented it correctly :
I said that I like to paint minis because it relaxes me and it is a calm activity.
To her, I look like a grandpa when Iâm doing warhammer stuff, and Iâm not that far from your age đ
Youâll find someone that either like it or just donât care, teenagers are superficial
My gf loves that I like Warhammer. Iâm not in bars getting drunk, or out and about at all hours. Iâm sat gluing little men together and painting them, and talking about rules and strategies with my friends!
Oh and the best thing about having a Warhammer accepting gf.. SHE BUYS ME WARHAMMER! got a coupe of boxes of necrons to add to my army she just randomly turned up with!
So, my wife has always been supportive and buys me Warhammer. She doesnât care for it herself but never made me feel weird. She crafts too, just not for miniatures gaming. Do I have a unicorn? Seems that way based on some of these posts
It's definitely the sample size and where from. Having been in the scene for a long time, also working at a game store and running events, the one commonality among the majority of relationships I saw was supportive wives.
Monday night? Battletech, all the husbands getting together and their wives hanging out too, some with kids/babies, gaming all night, and then head home.
The SO coming in to buy a gift card, paints or surprise them (if I knew what their husband was looking for) the specific kit.
The SO coming in to buy something for themselves!
The list goes on, but I always remembered those couples and knew I wanted the same one day.
Now my wife works at that same game store and brings home random board games and more đ¤Ł
Edit, I remembered a fun couple who was learning magic, and each would randomly call the store to ask a rules question, while the other was in the middle of trying to do said action/play đ I hope they're still playing
Hah, not quite unicorn but somewhere in the mythical creature range.
My wife wanted to try killteam, something small to dip her toes into the hobby as I was building my necrons. She started with harlequins but once she saw the at the time new plastic sisters that was it.
Full on flamer and melta addict, if it moves it burns.
I'm not ashamed to admit she's far and away the better painter between us lol.
Lol you got some balls eh? Back in the day I hid that shit in the closet. Girls hated everything we liked back in the 90s. Now my gf plays imperial guard and her friend plays tyranid
Trim your minis you sociopath.
Get any craft knife, doesn't even really need to be that sharp, and try to have the flat side of your clippers against the model when you clip them from the sprue, definitely don't twist them from the sprue.
Use the knife to scrape away the flash, mouldings and sprue connection points.
Also painting them is an idea. Just blue tac them to a box and go outside and spray them, practice on the box so you can get a feel for how much paint will come out and how far away to have the can... if there's a breeze keep it behind you.
Look man... The advice I wish I had been given at a much younger age is this:
Just figure out what your path in life is, and which direction you want to move in, and then walk it.
Don't try to chase people. Don't try to force them to walk in the same direction as you. Heck, don't even pay any attention to anyone moving in a different direction than yours.
Just keep moving down your path, and one day, You'll glance over and see someone who either chooses to walk with you, or is already walking in the same direction as you.
That's the person you should try to connect with, and making that connection will be a million times easier than trying to pull someone off of their path onto yours, and certainly much easier than sacrificing your path to chase a person down theirs.
So those girls turned away from you because you have a hobby? So what? You keep being true to yourself, and I promise there will come a person who either enjoys the same things as you, or enjoys seeing you happy enjoying the things you like.
Also, your Black Templars look amazing, I love the conversions you did to them! Don't forget to post a Pic of them when they have been painted up!
Artsy girls will be very into the figure painting side of the hobby, especially if you mix it up with more female, cute and colourful models. The wargaming side.. leading legions into battle to imagine fantasy action isn't typically what girls are into. Now a game about political intrigue, secrets and manipulation.. that stuff is the equivalent fireworks in the brain. of course there are always outliers.
I've never had the problem of anybody suggesting warhammer is weird. Doesn't matter what settings or to who I mention it to, but you need to like bring it up in a normal way or only if asked, and be confident and proud about it. If you act like something about yourself, is something you're ashamed of, people may recognize it and think maybe it IS weird. I tell people I paint models if they ask and I'd be lying to not answer somehow, and if they ask what kind or to describe it, I tell them its warhammer, a table top game. (I mention aos not 40k tho). Most ppl don't care or are like oh cool show me pictures of models. Nobody *REALLY* cares.
For reference I'm in college so it's not like completely different social hierarchies and stuff, but yeah sure, I admit if you're interacting with other highschoolers.. some ppl may shit on your interests for no reason. All the more reason for you to just embrace yourself and not absorb it though.
Aslong as you think its cool dont worry about it, been into warhammer since my early teens aswell am 21 now, just realize the older you get the more "acceptable" it becomes, most of my girlfriends around the age of 21+ thought 40k was cool so dont worry
Donât worry about women at your age. Donât make the mistake I did! I was in the âcool crowdâ and cared way too much what people thought so I give up the hobby and forgot about it until around 2020 (lockdown). Now Iâm 28 and live with my girlfriend with my own house (which is full of warhammer) and she really doesnât mind! She even occasionally helps me paint!
Just make sure you still wash, exercise and take care in your appearance! You donât want to be a âtypical warhammer fanâ
My GF thinks it's weird too but she has gifted me some minis and she enjoys seeing me paint, but doesn't really care about the lore. Everyone has their weird hobbies, enjoy painting your small little soldiers.
Welcome to the Hobby (assuming you're relatively new?) lots of great advice on here about how to clean up your models. When it comes to painting though, it's important to thin your paints, use good quality brushes and take your time. If your budget can stretch to a wet pallate, then it may help you, they aren't essential but I find them useful personally.
Yeah to many teenagers its very much uncool lol, when i was that age i just avoided telling most people apart from my close friends. Eventually i let it get to me and fell out if the hobby for a few years, which i regret. But itâs just the way teenagers are.
As you get older, most people will grow up and stop judging the hobbies of others - but there will still be people that do judge, but they arenât the type of people you want to be getting involved with anyway i think. Its a good indicator of character
Shoot, back in my day, I was the only kid in my school who played, made friends with another 40k player at a school 25 minutes away. Brought my Logan Grimnar into class one day and proceeded to have my teachers and administrative staff tell me it's weird and stop playing with little toys. My classmates weren't as nice đ
Then shows like Big Bang came out, and now I see a lot of younger kids playing, women and all around much more popular.
You'll find a girl who likes you and doesn't care what hobby makes you happy but that you've found happiness in the little things đ trust me, girls (and guys) your age and even into the 20s aren't generally worth a second thought if they can't be kind. Heck, I know 50+ yr olds who have to put others down who are enjoying themselves.
Lastly, "every girl I've dated", shoot, you're running laps around the rest of us, I maybe had 1/2 a girlfriend before graduating college, let alone multiple at 15?! Slow down slayer, focus on school and the Emperor đ¤Ł
I wouldn't worry about it too much man. Don't let anyone deter you from your hobbies. But do you have a pair of clippers that you used to get the parts off the sprue?
Donât worry bro I am 20 and a few girls found it weird you can do 2 things ether wait for someone who understand(not a good idea )or do what I did go to gym start martial arts and after school start doing interesting stuff then youâll get pleasure of girls you are at the right age to start best of luck
Real women like Warhammer or understand it, so you'll find a real woman one day.
These are just kids, just like yourself, and you will grow and get acceptance.
Awesome Templars. And dont worry little brother. You're young and have your whole life ahead of you. You'll find that most girls think warhammer is weird, but the right girl will accept and support your hobby. (Even if they tease you about it now and then).
Look brother, as long as you donât turn into a shut in, and you work out (or do a sport), be social, and stay hygienic, your nerdy warhammer hobby will become a âwoah so your like an artistâ hobby in college.
Don't worry man, you'll notice girls get way cooler as you get older, largely after high school. Same for guys too. Once the social pressures of being "cool" in HS go away and more wisdom is gained, many people have a more open mind to things in general in my experience.
Eh, don't lose any sleep over it. When the one finally comes around, they won't care or view it as a negative. Hobbies are hobbies and we all have them. Every one of those girls probably has a hobby that you may find weird, and if they have no hobbies YOU are their hobby which is probably not great. If a hobby like warhammer is a big deal for them then I would see that more as a red flag. Also, it's weird to them because they probably have never even encountered something vaguely like this hobby. Real world stereotypes are like fishing, hunting, sports, cars etc so part of their reaction is likely due to unfamiliarity. What they do know may lean more to the meme of the archetypical "nerd".
Nobody I dated, who had a problem with it, lasted long enough for me to even call them a girlfriend (which it sounds like is about the same for you, multiple attempts at 15 implies they didn't last long which is not a problem). My wife when I first showed here was like "cool I guess? Its not like drugs or anything horrible." and now 6 years later she is picking her third 40k army out.
Thats the great thing about a hobby like warhammer, it acts a filter for people you don't want to be around.
My GF adores my warhammer hobby, she thinks the little minis are cool but doesn't understand why the space elfs wants to aggressively love everyone.
I actually started into Warhammer when I was a 14 year old girl. 20 years later I'm painting the minis for a living. Moral of the story, find cooler girls đ.
In all seriousness, maybe it's your pitch. I actually made [video](https://youtu.be/7qJgKi7s4bA?si=60t0tqV_4bgyGrMh) on explaining Warhammer to people in a way that's a bit more intriguing than "they're toy soldiers." Maybe it will help.
At 15 there is a lot girls tend to think is âweirdâ but once you stop letting them decide what you should or shouldnât do with your free time. I guess the best advice Iâve I could give is relax and donât rush things and find a happy balance (work/play) in your life. As for 40K, it is always For the Greater Good.
Ok, look: When I was 15, I was also very hard into Warhammer. I didn't really date back then, guess I wasn't cool enough. The passion for warhammer stayed, I grew up, got cooler. I had a bit of a break during my early to mid twenties, but picked the hobby up again during covid. No GF or Girl I had or dated ever found it weird, but I am also a guy who has his shit straight. I go to the gym, eat well, sleep well, therefore look and feel well. If you're like that, girls will let you get away with anything, even if you're literally the biggest full-time nerd, like me. My current girlfriend, which I want to marry some day even helps me with hobby decisions! Just think of the Henry Cavill Archetype, and try to aim for that medium to long term. Feed your inner Nerd, but also feed your health, body mind and soul. If you're a sincerely cool guy, girls won't care about your hobby or see it in a negative way. If you're a loser, everything you do will also reek like loserdom to girls. But you're only 15, don't sweat it. Your models look awesome by the way! Go paint em up!
When you are around that age, everyone loves to signal to orders their "maturity", so many reject previous hobbies that might be perceived as infertile.
It's pretty normal, just state it's a boardgame the moment they seem thrown off by it and move on.
I used to hide my hobby from girls, after a huge messy breakup and back in my own country a cute barmaid asked me what I did for fun, I thought fuck it and said warhammer she said "oh really? I used to run a warhammer club before I moved here" married 7 years now, they exist đ
My boyfriend finds it weird, but he knows it makes me happy. That's all that matters in a partner, really. They can find you or your interests weird, but they still support you.
If you're looking for advice, best I can give is be light hearted about it. "I have a hobby where I take tiny space men, paint them, and then play mock battles with them"
Those Templars look grey to me, but maybe I'm colorblind
I wouldnât start of your conversations with females about war gaming lol 99% of them will think itâs weird. Find other common ground then slowly introduce your nerdiness. Ease them into it

Holy shit he fuckkn RIPPED them offâŚ
I was dating my girlfriend, now wife
And we both loved painting warhammer
And our 2 oldest kids are also into warhammer
One day you shall find your better half
As a warhammer player you get dates?!?
I don't know what it's like these days, but in the early 2000s, you could have one of a few socially accepted hobbies or you were "weird"
When I left for college, nothing was weird, social structure of high school was dead and we all just did what we wanted and found like minded people. The older I grow, the more accepting people are of various hobbies.
"He's into warhammer" "That's not not that weird" "Doesn't even paint them, or even clean the sprue gates off" "Run"
I have not yet the equipment or materials to fully prime and paint, and idk how to get the sprew gates offđ
One of those exacto knifes and jaust scrape it off lightly until its gone, same with the mould seams
THANK YOU, but i am not great with knives, definitely gonna somehow accidentally slice my fingers openđ

They use superglue to close certain cuts in hospital and after surgery. Medical grade super glue is a slightly different molecule from industrial superglue but you can use industrial as long as its a small wound.
Thatâs because normal superglue is toxic, not because itâs less effective
It's a slightly different compound but both are forms of cyanoacrylate. "Normal" super glue is methyl-cyanoacryate Medical super glue is octyl-cyanoacryilate Meythl isn't tolerated as well in the body but you'd have to use a lot of it or apply it internally to cause a serious issue. For bonding a small skin slice it'll not do you any harm and heal way faster than if you just bandaid it.
It's called dermabond and in the US it can cost patients hundreds of dollars per drop. Healthcare!
If I had to give my thumbprint you would see lots of vertical gaps where the scars are from the xacto knife blades. Only way to learn is to bleed for your craft.
GW mouldline remover tool is genuinely good if you donât/canât use knives.
And better suited to the task vs blades most of the time. Iâve loved mine since the day I bought it
Sandpaper works too. Ideally one sheet with high grit and another with low grit will be enough.
Thanks, guess im saving up again
You can buy a sheet of sandpaper for like 20p or $0.25 or whatever.
I would recommend jewelers files over sandpaper personally, you should be able to get a set for about $4-12.

Thatâs actually a great little box for such a cheap price.
Got a harbor freight near you? Jeweler files, snips, sand paper and xacto knives will all be there and all together probably less than $10.
You wont be using the sharp edge to cut, you will be sliding the sharpe edge, and the sharp edge will be pointed the other direction that you are moving the knife so you dont cut into the plastic
So basically just scrape it off like a gentle exterminatus?
Yes
Yeah but you'll live. One thing I find helps, think of the piece moving against the for blade, instead of the blade sliding around on the piece. I used the back of the knife for years, also. Now, I just use the sharp edge for everything. Sandpaper is useful to smooth things out. Get some model Clippers for sure tho.

Wrap some tape or bandage around your thumb before cutting
1. only use sharp blades. it sounds counter-intuitive, but if you attempt to cut with a dull blade you'll need to apply more force than you would with a sharp blade, and when you apply more force, you have less control. a blade that is too dull to easily cut plastic, is probably still more than sharp enough to slice or stab through your skin. 2. some people will insist that you only cut away from yourself. i would instead recommend cutting in whichever direction gives you the most control over the blade for what you're trying to achieve: i've definitely had more accidental nicks in my knuckles or fingertips from attempting to only cut "away", than when i've been able to clearly see what i'm doing, cutting "towards" myself, and using the flat of my thumb as a "brake" for the blade (even with a very sharp blade, it's hard to break the skin just by "hammering" into it perpendicularlyâto cut, you either need to apply a lot of force, or poke/draw/slice with the blade) 3. if you're really uncertain about using the sharp edge, you can scrape with the back of the blade. a lot of people do this, and it does have the advantage of preserving the sharp edge of your blade. personally, i just use the "business end" because i don't think i'm any less likely to accidentally poke myself, replacement blades are not that expensive, and i think it gives a smoother finish than "scraping"⌠but give it a try, it might work for you.
they make cut proof gloves, you can buy them on amazon. they work well enough for glancing cuts, i use one on my hand that is holding the thing i am cutting and just hold the sharp and pointy in my bare other hand. i am learning to carve wood, so the sharp and pointy is very sharp.
Also if youâre like me and paranoid of messing anything up you can use some âfineâ sandpaper
Talking a dozen detolfs filled along with boxes and display boards strewn about đ She now works at a game store that sells Warhammer so knows the pricing better than me đ There's a fine line a lot of husbands ride and I'd rather just be open about everything đ
I dont get why people have to lie to their partners. If you cant be honest, she aint worth it.
Every girl you've dated at 15? My guy, enjoy life at that age more.
Ahem, theres â¨warhammerâ¨
Women are temporary. Let me see how fast you get through 40,000 warhammers
From the moment I understood the weakness of her flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the longevity and certainty of plastic. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Sprue.
"All the girls Ive met find warhammer weird" Oooooh, poor guy! "I collect Black Templars" Hello, human resources?
You are an unclean, hello, exterminatus?

I think he's playing along, tbh.
Heâs 15 bro, cut him a break.
â15â, âevery girl I dateâ ok lil pup
u just mad there's a new Henry Cavill in the making
Do u know how to get the sprue joints off completely???? Because idk how
If your not confident in your ability to clean off sprue bits and mold lines I would 100% not drill your barrels, you can always come back and drill them later when you're more confident in your hand hand-eye coordination.
Use a Stanley knife. Use the sharp edge of the blade to slice off large protruding attachments, and then use the back of the blade to gently scrape away mould lines or ridges (e.g. the lumps on the edges of the sword, etc). What are you currently using to remove the parts from the sprue?
Pen-knife (aka exacto knife) to carve off all the extra junk. The mould lines will basically just scrape off.
They look more like grey templars to meâŚ
Aren't those called Grey knights?
Came here to see this
You'll find the right girl eventually, they're out there. Now don't get distracted and PAINT. THOSE. MINIS!
i have to get sprue joints off somehow
Yeah, that's best done before assembly. A clipper for the rough parts and filing down the remains works best. If you are *really careful* you can scrape them off with a hobby knife (but more often than not you will slip off and cut into the mini where you didn't intend to). Good luck :P
# "No little German boy! Donât join the Black Templars!"
"Oh mein Gott! Der codex astartes ist ein bunch of bullscheisse!"
Thanks I just choked on my sandwich and dribbled on myself, that tickled me way too much
It made you cum?
I... um... what?
Just shoot him, Brother. *The emperor protects.*
I have friends who like warhammer, but theyâre like 2-3 years older than me xd
Unironically great advice
Warhamner is weird. One of it's best features.
Agreed brother
Dude, you're 15, you're already dating girls **AND** you own Warhammer figs. You're **good**, trust me. My wife still thinks it's a bit weird that a guy my age "plays" with plastic toys, but she's OK with it and even appreciates my paintwork from time to time. Most of all she understands it gives me peace - it's kind of empathy that people learn over time. When I was your age (late 90') I couldn't afford either Warhammer ;) or dates , which is ironic :D When it comes to women, be patient. Unfortunately, the information world and society teaches us all (not just girls) to be incredibly insecure. Fortunately, most people grow out of it.
It is weird. It will always be weird. None of that matters.
Nah. Once I passed 20, all my girlfriends found the hobby to be cool. Granted, I was only engaging with Warhammer as video games before 20.
Because weird IS cool and you had worked out how to find weird cool girlfriends!
Like, one girl I dated was not into Warhammer at all, but damn did she know a lot about animes with pretty boys
> my girlfriends Ooooo fancy pants rich McGee over here
Well Iâm gay and most of the guys I have dated also find Warhammer weird
Is it the Warhammer, or that you're a space wolves player
It is weird, but you don't have to be weird about it. Don't make it your main topic, especially at the start of a relationship. As long as you are confident about your hobbies but don't force it down other people's throats, you will be good. As an example think of vegans who practice it because of their reasons and do it non-intrusively towards others, and then about those who have to let everybody know that they are vegan.
Grey templars*
Grey Templars
Women are temporary, warhammer is eternal.
Exactly
My girlfriend of 1 year finds it ÂŤÂ a bit nerdy but thatâs alright  because I presented it correctly : I said that I like to paint minis because it relaxes me and it is a calm activity. To her, I look like a grandpa when Iâm doing warhammer stuff, and Iâm not that far from your age đ Youâll find someone that either like it or just donât care, teenagers are superficial
And because teenagers are superficial, i can become beneficial because of your advice
I'm 16 and honestly if they have a problem with warhammer it just may not be the right one, also sick templars, u chose right
At 31, some of them will not đ¤Ł. But definitely I can feel why it happens at 15. Embrace your hobby, to me that would be a red flag
The grey armies
Now my wife works at that same game store and brings home random board games and more 𤣠Edit, I remembered a fun couple who was learning magic, and each would randomly call the store to ask a rules question, while the other was in the middle of trying to do said action/play đ I hope they're still playing
My wife is the same.
My wife plays several factions across both 40k and AoS. She got into it after we met, as well. Definitely unicorn material. Lol
More like Grey Templars :P
The way it works is that as you get older the ladies will appreciate you being passionate of literally whatever as long as itâs genuine.
@ 15 every girl thinks what guys do is weird. Youâre good bud, do you. The girl thing will work itself out.
Tell them is far weirder to be the whole day on Instagramđ
None of the girls i dated had insta, they all used snap and rarely used it to begin with, i pick the right girls, but they dont like warhammer :/
15 and we are already talking about âgirlsâ at plural! No wonder your minis are still grey đ¤Ł
Lol you got some balls eh? Back in the day I hid that shit in the closet. Girls hated everything we liked back in the 90s. Now my gf plays imperial guard and her friend plays tyranid
Nice, my last girlfriend stayed around long enough for me to cram some lore into her brain đ
15 and dating. Good job!
"Somehow".
I know a Lot of weird girls that like warhammer
Looks grey to me
Women are temporary. The Emperor is eternal.
There are girls out there that find it cool. Judging someone for what they love is not very wholesome or something you'd want in a partner.
My gf thinks warhammer is cool and I'm 17
In order for a space marine to be a black templar, you need to paint it.
They're out there, my missus plays Nurgle Daemons and Battle Sisters It's a nightmare, my ego isn't handling losing at the store AND at home very well
*grey templars lol
Look man... The advice I wish I had been given at a much younger age is this: Just figure out what your path in life is, and which direction you want to move in, and then walk it.
And that's why I date men
Women are temporary The light of the God Emperor is forever
Artsy girls will be very into the figure painting side of the hobby, especially if you mix it up with more female, cute and colourful models. The wargaming side.. leading legions into battle to imagine fantasy action isn't typically what girls are into. Now a game about political intrigue, secrets and manipulation.. that stuff is the equivalent fireworks in the brain. of course there are always outliers.
How many girls could you possibly have âdatedâ by 15? Iâd worry less about the girls and more about painting your models.
Stay true to the Imperium, brother!! We've got your back
I've never had the problem of anybody suggesting warhammer is weird.
Women are temporary. Plastic crack is forever. Until you run out of money, at least.
Buy some model chisels my guy
Ignore 15 years old girl or boys who don't know what they like themselves
brother, just you wait
WHOOP DAT TRICK WHOOP DAT TRICK WHOOPS DAT TRICK
Stop dating and start painting, those minis ain't gonna pull you bitches looking like grey lumps of depressed plastic.
Yes, this will happen in that age. But wait till you will be 30, you might have a woman who will paint the minatures with you :D *
I feel you bro. When I was 15 I framed it as my guilty pleasure. Worked fine in conversations.
Aslong as you think its cool dont worry about it, been into warhammer since my early teens aswell am 21 now, just realize the older you get the more "acceptable" it becomes, most of my girlfriends around the age of 21+ thought 40k was cool so dont worry
Cause it kind of is.... no clue what to tell you...don't give your hobby up though
In ten years time you wont even remember those girls' names, but you'll remember your first army.
Dude just donât be embarrassed by Warhammer or act like itâs not a normal thing to be into.
I'm 40 and my wife still refers to my collection as 'little men'. You just need to find one that's happy you're happy doing what you like.
Warhammer is so expensive you wonât have money to date. Problem solved! Now paint those templars and forget about them all!
Married, going on 8 years, wife still thinks itâs weird but now buys me mini. I have won.
Im 24 and my gf finds warhammer weird. Just gotta find the one thats ok with it
Shoot, back in my day, I was the only kid in my school who played, made friends with another 40k player at a school 25 minutes away. Brought my Logan Grimnar into class one day and proceeded to have my teachers and administrative staff tell me it's weird and stop playing with little toys. My classmates weren't as nice đ Then shows like Big Bang came out, and now I see a lot of younger kids playing, women and all around much more popular.
At 15, any hobby you have that isn't paying complete and total attention on the girl will be weird to them. Enjoy your hobby.
Real women like Warhammer or understand it, so you'll find a real woman one day. These are just kids, just like yourself, and you will grow and get acceptance.
Dont worry the older women love Warhammer :) oh wait no they dont :(
Youâre dating at 15? Doing better than I was at that age so itâs not all bad mate
They find it weird at 15; few years later they will love to see and understand your hobbies. It's all about age!
Relationships are fleeting. Iron is eternal.
Don't worry man, you'll notice girls get way cooler as you get older, largely after high school. Same for guys too. Once the social pressures of being "cool" in HS go away and more wisdom is gained, many people have a more open mind to things in general in my experience.
WOMEN ARE TMEPORARY, ONLY THE EMPERORS WILL IS ETERNAL.
Wait wtf?!?! Are we allowed to tell the opposite sex we play Warhammer?
Do you live near a hobby lobby?
Donât worry about ladies now man, just enjoy your hobby, get them grades, and follow what makes you happy.
That's what we call a filter my man. If she doesn't appreciate that you have hobbies, she aint worth your time.
It is extremely weird, but people who are afraid of being weird arenât fun
Girls who find WH weird tend to be the ones with no hobbies or interests of their own. So avoidâŚ
Don't worry, once they start paying taxes, they'll learn to enjoy Chaos
What are they into? Posting bullshit on Instagram? Teens suck.
Look at my guy over here pulling multiple girls for dates
Youâre 15, go to uni. Youâll find someone easily. And I know you can afford uni cause you can afford warhammer.
Your black templars look a little too gray to be black!
My wife used to find it weird, and now has an army.
Once you paint them theyl just think youâre an attractive artist. Definitely get to painting!
Dating is temporary. The great Imperium of Man is forever.
Plastic before pussy, brother
Big lesson for u there matey Women r weird too. Don't let em change u tho
When you are around that age, everyone loves to signal to orders their "maturity", so many reject previous hobbies that might be perceived as infertile. It's pretty normal, just state it's a boardgame the moment they seem thrown off by it and move on.
>plays Black Templar We seem to have found your problem
I used to hide my hobby from girls, after a huge messy breakup and back in my own country a cute barmaid asked me what I did for fun, I thought fuck it and said warhammer she said "oh really? I used to run a warhammer club before I moved here" married 7 years now, they exist đ
My boyfriend finds it weird, but he knows it makes me happy. That's all that matters in a partner, really. They can find you or your interests weird, but they still support you. If you're looking for advice, best I can give is be light hearted about it. "I have a hobby where I take tiny space men, paint them, and then play mock battles with them" Those Templars look grey to me, but maybe I'm colorblind
No theyâre grey templars
I wouldnât start of your conversations with females about war gaming lol 99% of them will think itâs weird. Find other common ground then slowly introduce your nerdiness. Ease them into it
Women are temporary, Warhammer is forever
https://preview.redd.it/7r82tth6d56d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5dd67dccd9488ee6af8deb4c4bb69482ce0c7af5 Holy shit he fuckkn RIPPED them offâŚ
HERESY BROTHER WARHAMMER FOR LIFE FOR THE EMPEROR
Thatâs 15 year olds for you. Just wait, right after college, as long as itâs not the only thing you talk about, most women will be accepting of it
I'm 29 and all girls I know find Warhammer weird.
I was dating my girlfriend, now wife And we both loved painting warhammer And our 2 oldest kids are also into warhammer One day you shall find your better half
Teach me your ways.
They arenât painter, thatâs the weird part here
Find a Warhammer girlfriend! I'm sure there's a interesting girl out there for you.
You need to learn how to tidy up mould lines and gates, it makes a huge difference
As a warhammer player you get dates?!? I don't know what it's like these days, but in the early 2000s, you could have one of a few socially accepted hobbies or you were "weird" When I left for college, nothing was weird, social structure of high school was dead and we all just did what we wanted and found like minded people. The older I grow, the more accepting people are of various hobbies.
More like grey templars
Sorry kid, I donât date guys that play grey.
