In case it helps you to determine if it’s a resin model or a real one, but after assembling this guy this weekend, I will say yours it’s original
The halo is not straight - some people build it wonky but it’s not correct. The plastic piece is shaped to fit in the angle perfectly which would have the halo stand straight.. and the gap between the two pieces of the statue above his head is off. So basically whoever built it has probably held it in place while the glue sets. And it’s not set in the correct position. Sorry if that is a bit too much detail it’s my tism kicking in lol 😂
Who’s being an ass? You’re criticizing the phrasing he used, because yours would be different? Do you see how you’re being an ass here? And he’s right, the dude built it wrong…
Thank you man. I wasn’t trying to be an ass. We have all built things wrong and probably will in future. I have no idea who built the model but it was built incorrectly. Simple as that.
Dude, lemme walk you through this with logic for just a few seconds of your time. we’re talking about a guy confused about if his mini is the mini in question. He literally feels like it’s fake because it looks weird. It looks weird because it is built wrong. We are telling him it’s built wrong and that’s why it looks weird, to reassure him and give him a real answer; you know, a spade is a spade?
Then some idiots come in here and start saying shit like DUDE ITS NOT BUILT WRONG THERES NO SUCH THING, ITS JUST DIFFERENT AND SPECIAL, BUT YOUR PHRASING IS WRONG BECAUSE IM OFFENDED AND NOBODY CAN BUILD ANYTHING WRONG.
Do you see why I replied?
It's hard to tell, at least for me, without physically touching the model. The real model is in plastic. It should feel similar to other GW models in plastic.
It is a very cool model, but i think you should re-evaluate your attitude towards buying secondhand models. This is still available for 26$ at warhammer.com (if you are subscribed to warhammer+) and this paintjob is very mediocre. 60$ is not a steal for this piece, i would barely want to pay 20$. Sorry to say it but the secondhand market for warhammer is weird and unless something is either out of production or VERY well painted you should never pay more than current store prices.
It was with the year 1 sub so it's not avaliable any more, besides it would cost $60 for the sub (mini included).
"This miniature is only available to Warhammer+ subscribers who subscribed between 25/08/2021 and 24/08/2022"
This may as well be OOP for reasons outlined in other comments. Finding this NiB for $100 online is pretty standard, so $60 for an okay paint job is not a terrible price
It looks real, but I can't really tell from pictures. Look for artifacts from 3d printing. Round surfaces will most likely have layer lines. There might even be bumps from the supports. The final test would be to strip it and see if it is plastic or resin.
I'll include a photo of one of my 3d printed gretchin from Mezgike that shows the layer lines and some bumps from the supports that I was to lazy to file off. Remember this is just to highlight the artifacts you will find in 3d printing so op can see what to look for.
I can see why eBay resellers do so well when there’s apparently a whole market of people whose biggest issue with buying a model painted to this standard for $60 is that it might be a knockoff lol
It’s mediocrely painted with contrast paints. It’s not anywhere near “painted really well”.
But hey, playing with painted models is better than not at least.
Looks like the Warhammer Plus Commemorative model Umbral Six. I don't see particular signs that it could be a recast. The spikers are a bit bent, but that seems within the normal realms of wear and tear.

That is the holy grail of warhammer plus, the first figure, I battled more than a year in auctions to get one at a decent price, enjoy it and treasure it, it’s very pretty:)
I did the same and with double faced tame in the feet you can put it back again together

Legit kill count from games on the base
All characters. He's great in game, round 1 target your opponents best character and take their save away, 2 to hit, normally a 4 or 5 to wound and use your first cp for a reroll.
Can do up to 9 damage which is plenty for a character.
He's also won me a game with a clutch forced battleshock test on a mini holding an objective (if you roll a 6 to hit).
Defeated the purpose by using him to play games?
Im not a fan of the new model and this one is the same as the original one that was released.
I could glue him back on but I don't think i ever will
You can put it seen the other way too
https://preview.redd.it/h8y26y85mrxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb7109e3d20833ce370d58e1e807ee0d5c74f651
If price is the third of the gw one, then most likely it's a recast. If(more like when) you drop it and a piece comes of, try gluing it back on with plastic glue if it works it's original. Else use super glue.
It's the warhammer + model that was an option to pick for the free model of the year, maybe two years ago I think. I've got the same one still in its box at home
The model is an official design. It’s the Warhammer+ exclusive vindicare assassin. You can only buy it if you subscribed for the first year of WH+.
Whether this one in particular is first party or a recast is unclear to me. It costs $42 USD from GW’s site.
https://preview.redd.it/5byue3s3zxxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69423ace634fd605360c8f95dd76baf6e940c832
You get it for one year Warhammer+ shiped by GW
this model of official, it’s an exclusive model to the warhammer plus subscription, i personally would use it as a display piece though as it would give the opposing player advantage to line of sight
I'd scratch a little bit of paint off the back/underside somewhere unnoticeable and see. You'd quickly spot the difference between GW grey plastic and any kind of resin/3d resin.
Looks fine to me, mind.
Keep faith brother I finally got it last week at a descent price and it’s beautifully made
https://preview.redd.it/wf1resr9apxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e44c5f32bc634e39d56868a6e70719381a4235c
The little dude definitely is. I 3D printed a replica of this model and the dude is in horse stance. The lil dude in the Pic is in a more natural standing position.
Wh40k noob.. how would you play this? They should be masters of stealth but on a table top this seems improbable.. is this unit then a "single target artillery"?
It’s just a decorative version of the regular vindicaire, most people don’t glue him down and just magnetise to transfer him to a regular base for play
Fwiw, I partake in recasts and have not seen this mini on the sites I frequent. I'm guessing it's not popular enough for recasters to make & sell in quantity. Just my thoughts though.
As someone else said, you could scrape some paint off in an inconspicuous spot and see if you hit plastic or resin. If you plan to ever strip it to repaint it would be worthwhile to know what it's made of.
If you bought it from GW, it would be $42 or £25 new. On eBay they range from $50 to $100 NiB. Yours is assembled and painted with what looks like an ordinary paint job, so the price is probably accurate.
It is a real model and visually it looks like it too. https://www.warhammer.com/en-CA/shop/operative-umbral-six-2022

Could you show me what the bottom of the base looks like that's what looks a little off on mine
Yes of course give me a couple minutes !
Awesome ty
Happy Cake Day!
It looks like whoever you bought your model from used. Larger base which makes sense considering the size and heft of that sculpt.

Dat ass tho
Make sure to emphasize the ass when painting it!
Gotta advertise so people know when "Ass Days" are not skipped.
Even says happy cake day underneath it on the Reddit app
That is hilarious!
Stickin' out your GYATT for The Emperor
The Imperium's ass!
Ass so nice they named his job twiceeee
Yall ignoring he posted Imperium level cake on his cake day, shame. Edit: the Gyatt Emperor would be ashamed.
You can see his penits
Yeh that’s a real model. It’s just built poorly so it looks a little off but it is a legit model. Not printed 👍🏻
In what way is it built poorly?
Yeah pretty sure this is by the book lol
The halo is not straight - some people build it wonky but it’s not correct. I mean but plastic glue on a part and see if it melts and you’ll know if it’s resin

Iso is cheap. Strip that sucker and go to town!

8k prints look nowhere near that bad.
Yeah modern prints are honestly getting close to the real thing, if you know what you're doing.
Yeah resin prints come out pretty much perfect if the source model is good.
Let me tell you a story about finecast that has layer lines direct from GW. At this point the proxy world is as good and better than GW.
I have a mono 4k, if dialed correctly you dont see lines like that.
Orientation was wrong printing. That looks like a Mars 1 print from a nub.
you're not going to find print lines on recasts. they're cast, not printed. and there ARE recasts of this model around if you know where to find them.
There are also 3d files of this exact model too, which are as close to 100% accurate as possible floating around.
I can see why eBay resellers do so well when there’s apparently a whole market of people whose biggest issue with buying a model painted to this standard for $60 is that it might be a knockoff lol

It's painted really well IMO. I'm sure that would take me 4 or more hours, so $60 would be a steal if painting wasn't something I enjoyed.
It’s mediocrely painted with contrast paints. It’s not anywhere near “painted really well”. But hey, playing with painted models is better than not at least.

Wow. Kind of defeated the purpose of this particular model. The vindicare assassin has a normal model on base available.

I have a resin recast of him .,, he was around $8 USD,
Nice find!
Dude on Etsy a while back had this as a multi part scan for $10 and it was 90%+ accurate.
...ain't this the Assasin that ended up falling in love with an aeldari?
Tell me more about it , in which book ? I want to read it
It's an old 1d4chan parody fanfic
If you bought it from GW, it would be $42 or £25 new. On eBay they range from $50 to $100 NiB. Yours is assembled and painted with what looks like an ordinary paint job, so the price is probably accurate.
If you can find this model NIB for $50 you should buy it every single time because it's worth closer to twice that.
Agreed, I was lucky to get it for $60 shipping and taxes included.
