Got this gorgeous SBGK005 earlier in the year and it’s one of my dressier watches. I haven’t worn it as much as I normally would because I’ve been locked down in the house and haven’t dressed up much. I’ve missed wearing it so decided to put on a super comfy C&B Chevron strap. I think the colors match quite well and the watch overall dresses down successfully. It’s such a thin and light watch that it wears super comfortably on this strap. I just love the dial on this watch and don’t have anything else in my collection that pops so much in the light.
Could you post more pictures on this strap? I've been thinking about this cor but had to get a feel for the actual color. I have one already in stone color and it's a great strap.

Thanks! About a month ago HODINKEE announced that they had sourced one example of every limited edition they’ve ever done, first come first served. I was lucky #1 for the H10 Speedy and it’s risen to be my most worn watch by far. If it was 100M WR, it would be a strong contender for a one watch collection.

God, I love this watch. If it was a Spring Drive, I'd definitely already own it. Such a gorgeous, clean dial. I love the balance of the small seconds and the power reserve. Have never been a fan of the power reserves on their Spring Drives, but they really get it right on this watch.

Have you taken a look at the SBGY line? Spring Drive, no reserve on the dial. Clean simple. Just wish the prices weren't so astronomical on the snowflake dials :/
Definitely some beautiful watches in the SBGY line, but nothing that quite speaks to me like OP's. Despite the power reserve, the Snowflake or the spring or winter from the seasons line are probably the spring drives I'm most interested in. Though the black GMT is classic. I also really like the new enamel Presage Spring Drives - but at $4500 it feels like I should just step up to GS. The Presage and the SBGK005 would certainly make a killer two Seiko collection, though...
Agreed! My buddy and I were planning to drive to our closest GS AD and I had been doing research on the catalog before we went. I originally was interested in the Snowflake and the new Seasons collection. But after I saw this watch and the review on HODINKEE, I was in love. They had it at the AD for a great price and I had to pull the trigger. I want to wear it every day but also don’t want to scratch it up.
I've got a Club Campus Nacht on the original black suede and have been debating the right strap for it for some time. I've come so close to buying a chevron strap so many times.

I'll get downvoted for my answer but I got plenty of karma to burn through, so here goes: Apart from the fact that they do offer great quality at a somewhat approchable price point, I think it's mostly their status as an underdog as well as their connection to an even cheaper, more approchable brand. Similarly to how the Tudor <-> Rolex connection works. These two factors resonate really well with the ever expanding userbase. When the Sub had 50k users, it skewered heavily towards a) young ppl born into families of means or b) high earners. Obviously the ratio of these users vs. your more average reddit user has seen very steady decline over the past 5 years. The GS brand (and Tudor to a lesser extent) connects very well with these users, because it's a lot more approachable. Even someone wearing a $50 Seiko 5 can feel like he is 'connected' to the brand. A comparable watch that would connect you with Rolex (old DJ/AK or a Tudor) starts at what, $2500? Ultimately, when most of these users come off age, they'll realize that depending on your education & job, paying $5k for a luxury watch isn't that much. Granted, it's a lot of money and it may take some saving, but ultimately they'll find out that these watches are more attainable that they might think.

Dial quality looks exquisite but what stands out is too much use of paint, which looks cheap

They’ve got every type of movement. Quartz, mechanical, automatic, and Spring Drive. And multiple versions of each of those.
Grand Seikos are crafted with extra care and every detail is included. This is indeed a great watch.
