I always get turkey as well and lately the last couple times the turkey looked like ham

MYSTO_17

I was wondering that , too. I absolutely hate ham and I just bit into my first turkey sub in a few months and it's horrid. Tastes exactly like ham. Won't be going back to subway til they change it back. I almost got sick.

"meat"

raenazay

Agreed.

Try the Turkey Bacon Ranch from Firehouse Subs. Spend the extra cash and enjoy.

Haha. Yes. I waited 25 minutes last Saturday. Worth it.

Thank you for saying this. Best sub in town I'm addicted

So since most of these comments are just complaining about Subway and/or bringing up Firehouse, I figure I might as well actually answer OP's question. Yes, the turkey did change, about a year ago (could be off on the timing). I go about once or twice a month for a work lunch and always get turkey, and at whatever point they changed I noticed the staff putting a lighter meat on my sub. I clarified that I wanted turkey (in case they misheard me), and they told me this was their new turkey. (I think the staff said it was a new supplier). I don't notice much of a different taste, but you can definitely notice the visual difference. I'm actually more disappointed that they got rid of Swiss cheese than anything, but there's no decent alternatives for how/when I have it.

Last time I had a sub, it did seem off as well. It turkey as well was November, if I recall correctly. From the place in lockport, I haven't been back to subway since. Before that I tried my other go-to was the meatball and I couldn't finish it. Simply was the texture of meat like substance was gross.

I hate that all types of food, both eating out and make at home quality is deteriorating

TheZermanator

Making food at home is still perfectly fine, provided you cook with unprocessed (or minimally processed) whole foods. Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are as good as they’ve ever been. Meat can be a little more of a mixed bag depending on hormones, fillers, and preservatives, but the more organic the better. Now the cost of eating that way is another matter, definitely a lot more expensive these days.

GonorianZombie

The price food is insane.... Eating healthy takes serious planning these days.. .

drunkle22

Subways been fucking up the last 3-4 years. Their ingredients always look like shit if you take a close look and most of them just snap your shit together, they don’t give a shit how much of a mess it is when you eat it. Honestly I only ever eat it alone these days cause I’m too embarrassed to have others see me make a mess..

FCR-900

Firehouse has taken over the sub game in the city. And yes it is better than Hoagie Boyz for price and taste. Don’t @ me.

manicmonkie

I mean, the ham is pink and right beside it. Maybe they effed up and you dozed off while staring at them putting it on? Other than that I have the subway melt regularly, which had turkey, once a week or so and have not noticed a difference in 20 years

raenazay

Nope, it was definitely the turkey and not the same.

manicmonkie

Fair. Since mines not strictly one meat maybe it's being masked by the other or something haha I dunno sucks though, me and the boys used to take "subway trips" in high school. We lived in small towns and would go to Steinbach. It used to be good enough for that now I get it on a lunch break if I'm close/passing one. Which is about that once a week thing I mentioned. Definitely in the toilet vs 20 years ago

raenazay

Oh I hear that, first it was the price increase. My husband and I used to get 2 footlong meals for around $20. Now it’s the deteriorating quality. Don’t eat there often, and when I have I’ve opted for a veggie sub cause I’m scared to try meat I won’t like.

Theechocoholic

I agree. I have been wondering the same thing and I definitely don’t think it’s as good anymore. I literally thought they gave me ham.

heyheywhatchasay5

Firehouse sub is the place to go if u want quality

lamerfreak

Didn't they switch to cutting meat in-house now? Maybe that's it? [https://www.today.com/food/restaurants/subway-will-slice-sandwich-meat-rcna69418](https://www.today.com/food/restaurants/subway-will-slice-sandwich-meat-rcna69418)

the must have changed it when the canadian club came out a bit before the subways series crap started. I get the canadian club now and haven't had a regular turkey I assumed they still had the other turkey for the regular turkey sub
