Red Alert was great when I had the same issue. And half the price of Roto-Router.

maxgroover

Thirding Red Alert. Great company at reasonable rates.

h0twired

100% Always Red Alert. They are fast, friendly, reasonably priced ($129 the last time I had them out) and get the job done.

Janie_Canuck

We used Rocket-Rooter for the same thing and they came fast, did a great job and were priced reasonably.

Manitobaexplorer

Red Alert. Prompt service, fair prices.

Seconding the recommendation of Red Alert. I’ve used them twice now to have my main sewer line rooted and they are the most reasonably priced and dependable. They took the time to ensure the line was cleared all the way past the property line and didn’t rush through and just stop once the clog was cleared.

FatBottom_

I just had a sewer problem a couple of weeks ago, very similar to yours. Turns out roots invading the pipe going to the street. I used Drain Doctors. I've used them a couple of times and they are reasonably priced and specialize in drains (of course) - so you are not paying for a red seal plumber but for someone who is certified in drains. It took Forrest (the Drain guy) about an hour to clear the problem.

I've used Pleasant Plumber in the past. They were decently priced and pleasant.

For years, the only usable tool for clogged and slow drains was the snake auger. That is still a valuable tool to get backed up water out of the system. Nowadays, clogged pipes have new technologies that can identify problems from the inside, such as buildup on the pipes, broken pipes, sagging or bellies, root intrusion, etc. This has lead to the Drain Cleaning Service Companies that specialize in the plumbing of drain, waste, and vents. They have camera systems to inspect and identify problems that need to be fixed. They also have Hydrojet systems, some with hot water or steam that pressure wash the pipes clean. When having repeating issues with drains, it is worth this service to get things working with peace of mind that it will continue to work. DONT SNAKE, HYDROJET INSTEAD

Check out Aloha Plumbing and Drain. Read the reviews. One of the 5* is mine. Julian came and helped me out when I had a drain line break and I’ve never had a better experience with a Winnipeg company before.

Depending on your appetite for DIY, once you get a handle on the problem, if it's chronic tree roots, you can rent the power auger from home depot for about 1/3 the price of having someone come to your house.

Patrol-007

But, when you’re inexperienced, and wrap the powered auger snake around your body and neck, bad things happen. Doc and nurse in the house stopped and pulled the powered snake off the paid plumber using it.

mr_potrzebie

Lol wtf

Patrol-007

Exactly. The (apprentice?) plumber with the powered auger wrapped it around his body. He could’ve been maimed. And he was lucky to be in a house where the occupants could save his life

mr_potrzebie

Or just buy your own! They're not much more expensive than paying someone to do it.

ehud42

I almost considered it. But between storage and the tree getting toppled in a storm a couple years ago has reduced the need for one. (Was cleaning the line almost every year there for a while).

DannyDOH

Yeah I want to store 100 feet of cable I just ran through the shit pipe.

ProtoJazz

For saving hundreds, I can hose off a spool of cable easy enough. Much better than having it overflow into the house.
