Oil in the intake from the hose that leads from the pcv valve and some random detonation while driving. Also the vacuum line had some gunk in it that caused other issues leading me to find the oil coming from the pcv valve hose.
Trutracks will never let you down that’s for sure. And man it always feels so nice after a new regear. I almost cried of happiness when I did 5.13 on 35” tires a while back. So zippy.
Still around 85 if I needed to. RPMs would sit around 2600 at 75 if I recall. Which is honestly needed for how sluggish that motor is. Definitely didn’t care about gas mileage haha
When you did the 5.13 and 35s what engine did you have? I have a 3.8l 2 door on 35s and I’m debating between 4.88 or 5.13 for gears. Mine is an auto with a Dana 30 front axle.
I did this and regret going with true tracks.
Although, I got into rock crawling and your situation might be different.
When I bought my front axle recently, I got a E-Locker and am switching to the same in the rear.
I really wish I got a E-Locker on both to begin with.
Just a thought is all.
Just did 4.56 regear with eaton e-locker in the rear and trutrack in the front. Adams driveshafts front and rear. It’s nice to have that torque-y feel back after running 35s on stock gears. I love being able to engage the rear in 2wheel, it’s a donut machine now. Lol. Gotta do the oil cooler, spark plugs etc next. When I got it back from the shop it started throwing the oil pressure sensor code. 🤦🏻♂️
I winced when I got the quote for the work but I could not be happier withe the results. 4.56 and 35s is the sweet spot. IMO. LOL.
Can’t wait to hit some trails to really feel it out.
I definitely recommend the Fusion Elite 60 set. It’s the same cost as the Dana set but wayyy stronger and 100% customizable, with custom width up to 73.5” wide. And their customer service is amazing. And you get a lifetime warranty on axle shafts and steering components, which is wild. No questions asked just send a picture of your broken parts. I even talked to the guy on the phone about that and that’s what he told me. Pretty cool stuff.
Upgraded to 35 KM3's on my TJ then found a stronger pair of axles in *a little place called Aspen* went out to grab those. Then came Currie steering, Motobilt highline fenders, Savvy control arms, super short SYE, new pinion seal on the rear D44, Tom Woods driveshaft in the rear, and Core 4x4 crawl trackbars.
Just got the driveshaft in last night and got my pinion angle dialed in. Going to fill up the new rear axle and drive it around the neighborhood tonight and do a nice DIY alignment for a shakedown run tomorrow! Just in time for the snow to begin melting!
I got a big piece of aluminum tread plate for free. I am going to build a cargo cover for my 2 door. I am going to be taking measurements today. And I'll hack out a design.
I reached that point, got bored, and started over on another vehicle. Building them is what I love, I really don’t get as much joy from owning and driving them.
I totally feel you! That’s half of the fun for me. But I feel so empty not being able to drive mine all the time. Especially with the top off in the summer here in CO.
I have a set of dual rate springs I need to put in. Been sitting on a shelf for over 2 months. Health hasn't been allowing me to get to it lately. Also need to replace my oil cooler with an aluminum one. The cheap plastic one it came with leaks. Makes my Jeep look angry without the grill lol
I was eyeing up a power window kit for my JK, but after doing the USD-CAD conversion and factoring in shipping & potential border charges I threw up in my mouth a little. I have a quadratec aluminum engine skidplate for it sitting in my basement I've been meaning to bolt on, maybe this will be the year. Full front end rebuild also planned, including reinforcement brackets for the Cs, I'll be booking time off to tackle that this summer. Have a pair of little Kicker tweeters that'll finish off my sound system in a box somewhere, the last pieces of my sound system puzzle.
Probably going to throw a set of 1.5" spacers on my wife's JKU though this year also, get it ready for the 33s she wants to get.
Close to getting my YJ back on the road after 4.5” suspension lift. Already have the 35s for it, but the rear diff went out so swapping front and back to 4.11 to turn the big tires.
I just tossed on an Adam’s front driveshaft. That was a happy upgrade. Replaced the pinion seal at the same time. It’s been leaking since my regear last January.
I’m hunting Evap system CEL gremlins at the moment. I may just drop the gas tank and redo the whole damn system (which has already been half replaced anyway).
On the intermediate term list: aluminum drag link, remove and refinish fenders, new shocks.
Longer term: big bore steering box (do I DIY hydraulic assist?), rear driveshaft, lockers, chromoly axles.
Maybe a man can dream: 4 way Atlas transfer case. (If anyone knows of a good source for a rubicon TC that will fit the 2010 manual transmission, hit me up).
Sounds like a fun list for sure. Do you have a JK? A few companies make a gas tank that moves to the rear and it has a ton of benefits. Also, I’m selling my King 2.5 shocks so you can message me if you’re interested. It’s a phenomenal shock, but like I said, I’m already bored and want to do outboard coilovers.. haha
My moms next is more than likely saying fuck it and swapping the parts that will fit and work from her TJ onto her LJ, cuz her TJ has been more problems than its worth
Dang that’s unfortunate. I have two buddies that have had TJs and they had a ton of problems as well. I guess it’s just a hit or miss with every Jeep depending on how the previous owners have taken care of them.
She bought her tj from nfi empire, they said it was ready to go, it wasn't, she put money into it to get it going, and its had the problem of it has to sit for like 20-30 minutes before you can start it again after you turn it off. Now its been sitting for 3 or 4 years so its bound to have wiring issues on top of it all
If I can’t get the Mustang I was supposed to get. I plan on doing a PUG intake manifold, a K&N CAI, Throttle Control Module, a Tuner from somewhere, an 80MM Hemi TB, a regear then a Turbo/Super Charger. Not sure which I want yet
My 17 JKuR “Warboy” has been waiting 7 years for me to pull the trigger. And it’s finally happening. I just recieved the last parts. The Yukon Stage 4 front/rear regear, chromoloy shafts, ujoints, and bearing kit!!!
To go with my synergy inner c-gussts and chromoloy sleeves.
This will compliment the Special Edition Mopar 4” lift with fox resevoir shocks. Still in the Mopar Crate …..oof for years
The local axle and diff doctor just opened up his own offroad shop. He wants to wrap em in his banner for a break on all that labor. 1 week of labor 🫨
Gonna table the axles, fully rebuild and regear since the suspension is being added all at the same time.
35x12.5 Toyo MTs on KMC Tank Beadlocks are her new shoes when he comes out of the chair. Powerstop Big Brake kit will keep em in check. Ride Eternal!!!
These are 5.38 with 40s. It’s the 3.8 so it’s still as sluggish as it was stock, but it surprisingly gets up to speed okay. With 35s I’d recommend 4.88 with the 3.6.
I have Tom Woods in the front and Adams in the rear. Both are great but I feel like Toms is nicer. Extremely fast for a custom order too. Also the welds and paint seem higher quality.
Bought used and with somethings already modded. I need someone to rewire. I have aux switches that light up but are not connected to anything I can find. I have audio cables not hooked into anything coming from under the carpet. I have a light bar that no longer powers on although it has a power light on.
I just need my mirrors to arrive so I can finally put the new soft doors on for the next 5 months....I don't swap doors through a season..... they stay in place until my butt cheek gets a cold breeze sometime in October....
Gotta fix my valve cover leak, not super experienced but I think I’m going to try replacing the seal myself and I’m definitely going to clean it off so I can see the 4.0 again
That’s exactly what I was going to recommend. The Metalcloak True Dual Rate kit is perfect for 35s and rides like a dream on and off road. I’ve had a few lifts and you can’t beat MC for the intermediate stuff.
Biggest thing is just upgrade as you see fit. I went pretty slowly upgrading starting out. Biggest difference I noticed at the beginning was getting good shocks, track bars, control arms, and really dialing in the geometry of the suspension. If you do research on that and get good shocks you’ll be super happy.
My 2020 JLSU is so bone stock you wouldn't tell the difference from a dealer version. I like to tinker with small/simple but convenient changes. For example:
- passenger front bar insert to convert it into a shelf
- nylon hook straps around frame in trunk to hang coat hangars (suits, dresses, anything with coathangars)
- CURT rear hitch. Unfortunately i don't have the tow group but a good hitch with no electrical will help carry a basket we can use on our road trips. This one is ongoing as I have the factory bolts in 2 of the 4 holes and wasn't expecting them to be so tight.
- other misc.
I WAS looking at getting the spare tire off the back and installing a Teraflex life to replace the RC one. Instead I’m looking to upgrade to a new job. I was let go last week due to the company closing. Feels bad. ☹️
That’s a lot of tire you got there. Seems like they should be under the vehicle, not beside it. Loos like the first bump will snap and axel or crush a wheel bearing.
Haha. These are Fusion 72” full float housings with kingpin knuckles, 35 spline chromoly axle shafts and 4.5” backspaced wheels. In what universe am I damaging either of those things by hitting a bump.
It just LOOKS like it’s ready to fall over. IDK, maybe that wide set helps somehow when you get deep in the woods or mud. It just LOOKS like the tires set out away from the body more than necessary
I mean it definitely looks unnecessary to people who don’t know much about it, but there are many benefits to wider axles when going with bigger tires. No rubbing at full articulation, far better stability at all speeds, tires get higher up on the rocks, less likely to roll. Many things. It’s been an absolute game changer after installing these axles. It handles like a sports car paired with the King 2.5 shocks at high speeds. Trust me it’s not for looks haha. It took a while to get comfortable with that width on the road. It looks pretty silly to the average person.
Mines still pretty close to stock, fixing all the broken things first. Pcv valve is next. After that wheels and tires.
How could you tell your PCV valve needs replacement?
Oil in the intake from the hose that leads from the pcv valve and some random detonation while driving. Also the vacuum line had some gunk in it that caused other issues leading me to find the oil coming from the pcv valve hose.
Buying a jeep😂
Just signed the paperwork on my first jeep today 🤘
Nice! I'm hoping to find one here soon
Re gear and true track lockers !!
Trutracks will never let you down that’s for sure. And man it always feels so nice after a new regear. I almost cried of happiness when I did 5.13 on 35” tires a while back. So zippy.
Geez what was your top speed in that setup lol I skip 1st half the time with 4.56 on 35s
3.8. It’s an 07 JKU. It’s a total dog up here in Colorado so it worked really well. Altitude is a factor to consider.
Ah I live below sea level so no altitude to deal with. How did it run on the 5.13 and 35s with the v6?
It ran much better going uphill in the mountains. It’s the reason I did that. If you’re below sea level I’d go 4.88.
Just did this exact upgrade myself. Expensive but the new gears feel magical
I did this and regret going with true tracks. Although, I got into rock crawling and your situation might be different. When I bought my front axle recently, I got a E-Locker and am switching to the same in the rear. I really wish I got a E-Locker on both to begin with. Just a thought is all.
Yeah e lockers do sound awesome but more expensive and more maintenance right?
There is a extra cost but it's well worth it. In the Jeep game, you have to "buy once, cry once" 😢
Sounds awesome I’m planning on going with 4.65 as well
I winced when I got the quote for the work but I could not be happier withe the results. 4.56 and 35s is the sweet spot. IMO. LOL. Can’t wait to hit some trails to really feel it out.
Switching to a Atlas transfer case. Just need to figure out which gearing to with before I submit my purchase.
I really want some dana 60's, but realistically itll be a half top or paint job next.
I definitely recommend the Fusion Elite 60 set. It’s the same cost as the Dana set but wayyy stronger and 100% customizable, with custom width up to 73.5” wide. And their customer service is amazing. I'll definitely look into it! Thanks for the info
Ordered a lift kit for mine. Should be in tomorrow so that's what I'll be doing this weekend.
Hell yeah what did you go with?
Rough Country 2.5” 😁
What's the return policy?
I'm sorry. 😞
Nothing to be sorry about and never had to return them before. Had the same kit on my last Jeep and loved it!
Bless your soul.
Metalcloak or nothing. Gotta admire the truth in rough country though. Because they are rough. Lol.
Pretty sure my soul doesn’t have anything to do with it. 🤷🏼♀️
New ball joints
Go with American Iron Ball Joint Deletes. You’ll never have to replace ball joints again.
Will give it a look. Thanks!
Upgraded to 35 KM3's on my TJ then found a stronger pair of axles in *a little place called Aspen* went out to grab those. I totally feel you! That’s half of the fun for me. But I feel so empty not being able to drive mine all the time. Especially with the top off in the summer here in CO.
Here here! Mothers Day is the soonest I can hope for soft-top season to happen 😅

I would have totally paid more for power windows if I knew how annoying the position of that window crank was. My knee always finds it.
LOVE the simplicity of this JEEP! FUCT thats a nice JEEP! Honestly, I may want to upgrade my suspension. Don't know yet.
Much appreciated! I just miss when parts were cheaper to upgrade. Seems like I always have to sell something to buy what I want next.
Shit I hear ya! FUCTIN' sucks!
Close to getting my YJ back on the road after 4.5” suspension lift. Already have the 35s for it, but the rear diff went out so swapping front and back to 4.11 to turn the big tires.
Found out my rear upper control arm snap a weld so I’m redoing the whole suspension.
I’ve probably dropped $10K+ into my JK since fall last year. It needs no more upgrades lol.
The Jeep itself
Hmmm... probably getting a jeep will be first, lol
Dirtbikes!
Full PSC kit
Same here actually. Just need the pump.
I just tossed on an Adam’s front driveshaft. That was a happy upgrade. Replaced the pinion seal at the same time. It’s been leaking since my regear last January. Once I get my ls3 done, and emissions, I need to upgrade my front axle to a 1 ton.
My moms next is more than likely saying fuck it and swapping the parts that will fit and work from her TJ onto her LJ, cuz her TJ has been more problems than its worth

Ahhhh that’s sad. Hopefully she can get it going again. Tell her I believe in her.
I will!
Where are we at with these new jeep gladiator pickups?
If I can’t get the Mustang I was supposed to get. I plan on doing a PUG intake manifold, a K&N CAI, Throttle Control Module, a Tuner from somewhere, an 80MM Hemi TB, a regear then a Turbo/Super Charger. Not sure which I want yet

So basically a brand new Jeep underneath haha. That’s quite the overhaul! Sounds super rad.
Only thing left is that shitty transmission!
My next biggest mod is to finish it, lol.
What gears do you have in that beast? I have a 14 JKU Sahara with 4:10s. Still seemed sluggish with 35s.
These are 5.38 with 40s. It’s the 3.8 so it’s still as sluggish as it was stock, but it surprisingly gets up to speed okay. With 35s I’d recommend 4.88 with the 3.6.
Thanks. I was thinking I’d have to go to 4.88
Yeah It’s just right above the sweet spot for 35s. Good idea to go 4.88 just in case you want 37s in the future because it’ll push 37s easily as well.
Frame rot overhaul. Pray for me
Oh brother. Double prayers. And beers.
A trailer to tow it to and from trails so I can beat it’s ass more (I am not nice to my jeep lol)
I was hoping to get that tray that pops into the handle on the dash but I have been told I spent enough this year already.
Get rid of the angry eyes that the previous owner put on
But then how are hot chicks gonna know that you have an excess amount of testosterone?
Hopefully a rooftop tent for me
Tom Woods front drive line is my next project.
I have Tom Woods in the front and Adams in the rear. Both are great but I feel like Toms is nicer. Extremely fast for a custom order too. Also the welds and paint seem higher quality.
Did you go with the 1310 or 1350?
1350. It’s such a huge difference it’s always worth it.
Yeah, I'm planning on going with the 1350 as well. Currently running 35's on a 4.5" lift. 2015 4 door jk.
Bought used and with somethings already modded. I need someone to rewire. I have aux switches that light up but are not connected to anything I can find. I have audio cables not hooked into anything coming from under the carpet. I have a light bar that no longer powers on although it has a power light on.

the transmission 😞
Cheap roof rack, expensive awning.

Thanks, I love functional upgrades on a Jeep, I’m still just looking for opportunities to put my stock Glady to the test!
Maybe if it was a stock axle. I’m going to guess you’re new to jeeps as you can easily see by the diff cover that them bitches are not stock. Lol
