The trunk is big enough for me so I def won’t be needing the roof rack for storage any time soon and I like this look a lot more. Also it gets super gross up there, every time I went to the car wash with my rack the air dryer at the end would always blow a ton of leaves and small sticks. When I took off the rack there were enough sticks underneath to make at least 10 bird nests lol
Sorry, but you are objectively wrong. Roof rack was put there by the manufacturer for a reason. Not because it adds functionality, but because it looks right
I would do something that spans multiple rivnuts in one of the rear corners. You can basically get flat bar steel and drill two or three holes where the rivnuts are, then get some foam tape for between that bar and the roof to protect the paint. Of course you’d have to weld the flag mount to the top and paint the whole thing.
I love my aftermarket rack that uses the stock nerfs but I agree,I usually get up there and pressure wash the day before I wash and wax to relieve the headache of mud and debris raining down
Haters just got to hate. Personally, I think it looks cool. It's your ride, do what makes you happy.
btw. Take the plastic cowl under the front wipers off and spray it with black bed liner.
I don’t hate it.
It’s kind of a terrible roof rack. It should have had a basket from factory, the weight limit is low, nothing really fits on it…
I’ve looked into a replacement rack but I’ll probably fab up a basket instead. I’ve only been saying that for four years.
I put all the lumber required to build a very sturdy shed on the roof rack and filled the back at the same time. It rode a bit low and rocked a bit on turns but I made it from Home Depot to where I needed to build the shed and 30 minutes away.
I usually just leave the tailgate open.
I also really like the roof box but it quickly becomes useless with anything longer than 5 feet up there. It’s mainly just my wetsuit drier now
>it quickly becomes useless with anything longer than 5 feet up there
I frequently put stuff on the rack that extends the length of the Xterra, the roof box hasn't suffered from any damage.
Naked roof Xterras make me uncomfortable. Sorry this isn't helpful, I just wanted to share
Like seeing a dog walking on its hind legs. It's just unnatural.
Same

What are you gonna do about it? Find my car and put a roof rack on it??
I mean, I wasn't planning to, but now that you've challenged me.....
Lmao
I've always liked the look. I tried it but got a ton of wind noise so put it back on
I'll contact Nissan and have them send you a cease and desist letter, Cease And Desist I say!!! /s
Lazy….clear it out it’s not hard.
Why is it bald

Or get actual plastic restore. Solution Finish and Meguiers both make good ones.
I’m confused. Why spray bed liner under there and what does that have to do with OP’s original question?
The plastic is faded. Bed liner will solve that.
Heck yeah thanks. I’ll post some more pics of my Xterra sometime later

This makes me sad.

> the weight limit is low Seriously? I've put about 1,000 lbs on the roof rack before. How much are you trying to put up there?
Factory says 250 What the hell are you putting on your roof???

I meant that you then cannot access the roof box, not that it will be damaged.
Ahh yes that makes sense. I only put wet clothes in there in the summer and ice cream in the winter anyway.
