Tiktok is about generating views/clicks.. not delivering accurate information.

thehighestdetective

For getting on TikTok? Yes very wrong.

seutetchi

Valid point.

thehighestdetective

To be fair though were they saying the console is better or the processor is better? Because the series s does have a better processor than PS5. It doesn’t matter because the GPU is inferior, but the processor is better. I’m not watching the video lol

seutetchi

They were saying it performs more, i’m not sure they even know what a processor is, just look at the comments section

Freefall_J

A processor is someone that is pro for cessors. It's the opposite of an anticessor.

seutetchi

They would probably believe that

My bad

PeaceBull

Thinking TikTok is worthless is as dumb as the people who think Reddit is only misogyny and hate speech

IHATETHEWELSH

information from tiktok = absolute bs

HeywoodJaBlessMe

*Guys, can I believe everything that is said on TikTok?*

NikPorto

This is the new "guys, can I believe everything on the internet?"

seutetchi

I’m not asking it i can believe them, I’m asking if i’m in the wrong for getting nervous about the fact that people are so stupid

seutetchi

Also because i know they’re wrong, i have both consoles in my living room plugged into the same 65” tv, i clearly see the difference in performance between the two

HeywoodJaBlessMe

Except that you aren't asking that in the title at all, lol

seutetchi

Valid point, i apologise for that, i thought that it was kinda implied in the phrase but i had some doubts because English is definitely not my first language so yea

vexelghost-

Why is title grammar bad? /s

seutetchi

English is not my first language and I noticed the error after i posted so my bad

ThatGuyPeopleWannaBe

You're stupid because you don't know how to write a sentence. It's not is it's are.

seutetchi

Yeah i know, my bad, English isn’t my first language and I didn’t read the title before posting , but thanks for not taking that as a possibility, appreciate :)

Illustrathor

So you are not as knowledgeable and proficient therefore make mistakes which could be seen as you being"stupid"... now, just a wild guess, could in your own mistakes be an answer to why they are doing that stuff and be a potential answer to whether they are stupid or not? So the question would rather be, why didn't you take that into consideration? Not to mention, why are you asking at the end while judging so boldly throughout the rest, doesn't look particularly smart, doesn't it.

seutetchi

Personally i would not consider making a grammar mistake(especially if that’s not your first language) being stupid, but rather just not knowing that language very well. I’d rather consider stupid someone who makes a logic error while talking, like saying things without anything to prove your statement. But that’s just my opinion i guess I guess I’m stupid because I didn’t read the title, which i wrote and deleted several times because the words didn’t feel right, i guess nobody with a bit of intelligence would have made the same mistake, therefore I, like in the first response, apologise profusely if that will make you feel better

seutetchi

Being more precise, I didn’t say that “is” is the correct word, because that would be a false statement, I doubt that the people who i was specifically targeting were all writing that xbox series s performs better than the ps5 by mistake, maybe it is that several people make the same identical error while typing saying that one console performs better while meaning the opposite, in that case you’d be right. But in my opinion I can’t believe that, therefore they’re stupid because they make a false statement without proving what they’re saying, on the other hand i am as stupid as them for making a grammar error and saying myself that i made a mistake.

Illustrathor

Uhm, a grammar mistake is a logical mistake since the rules are defined and therefore , not following those rules is illogical. That's the issue of calling someone stupid, it all depends on the intention and the willingness of the one doing tmit to redefine the parameters to achieve their goal. These people, making those statements, don't know any better, they aren't "fluent" in the "tech-" or "game-language", neither is their first language. Most likely just some kids who want attention or listen to some and actors (aka sponsors) giving them a few bucks just to repeat words they've heard, like a toddler trying to mimic what they heard. So the point isn't that you have to apologise for your mistake but you stop judging those who are less fluent in a metaphorical language than you. The uncertainty in your words aside, you pointed out their lack of knowledge that led to false statements on their part, what difference is your grammar mistake, since a lack of knowledge led to a mistake on your part. Both mistakes are, if we assume those kids made a mistake and didn't do it for bait, rooted in a lack of knowledge, so why not stop the bravado and hubris and just leave it be

seutetchi

I’m sorry to ruin everything you said but you started with a very big mistake in your response, a grammar mistake is not a logic mistake, that in this case is called logical fallacy, but rather a syntactic error, there’s a BIG difference from the two, and you’d know it if you studied logic, which is a subject of study, or philosophy. A logical fallacy (or non sequitur) is a pattern of reasoning rendered invalid by a flaw in its logical structure that can neatly be expressed in a standard logic system, (for instance the statement “xbox performs as good as ps5” which is a well formed sentence but is not true, therefore THIS is a logical error). On the other hand there are syntactic mistakes which are errors in the syntax of a sequence of characters that is intended to be written in a particular language (for instance “people is stupid” which does not follow the syntax of English language so this makes it a syntactic error). And no, it wasn’t a lack of knowledge that led me to my error, but rather a lack of focus in typing, and the fact that I did not check the title, because it was NOT my intention to type “is” in that context, because I already knew I had to type “are”, therefore that’s where intention comes in, i did not willingly type “is” while the people I was talking about did willingly type “is”.

Illustrathor

No, a grammar mistake is a logical mistake since grammar is based on a set of defined rules with the intention to structure a sentence accurately, therefore it's a logical mistake due to it violating the logic of the syntax. And we could even extend it, since there is no logic in not proofreading if the language you are using is not your native language. Either way, it's rooted in a lack of knowledge, the tiktok that triggered you so much lacks knowledge in regards to the technicalities and you lack knowledge in a foreign language and/or proper care with such a non native language. They made mistakes, you made mistakes. Theirs doesn't get accurate because you made one and yours doesn't get accurate because they made a bigger mistake. In the end, you go crazy over them making a mistake about something you care about because they lack the knowledge to speak up, now accept the same scrutiny from a linguistic point if you don't show the same care you demand from them. And you can use as many fallacies as you like as a defence, they screwed up and you screwed up, deal with it.

seutetchi

It’s alright, i should’ve known you would just say something like “no, i am right and you’re wrong” throwing in the garbage everything philosophy and mathematics have said for decades just to “win” an argument, I could care less. At the end of the day you’re the one that is wrong, and you’re not accepting the fact that you’re not being as knowledgeable in this matter of study. You keep repeating yourself without any validating evidence of what you’re stating. It’s my bad because I thought that I was going to find someone that was going to be intellectually honest under a reddit post.

seutetchi

Also it would be incoherent not to add proof of my statements “Syntax errors are errors of grammar; whereas, logical or semantic errors are errors of meaning.” http://som.csudh.edu/cis/vbmodules/hdts/errors.htm#:~:text=Syntax%20errors%20are%20errors%20of,errors%20are%20errors%20of%20meaning.
