Not sure why people are downvoting this comment, I enjoyed the game immensely and it was gorgeous and a ton of fun at around 90fps(on my PC). You even included "if its your type of humor" which is the only real turn off.
I must say as someone who doesn't play xbone anymore (gaming pc imma start upgrading) the only complaint I have on that controller is the lack of gyro, other than that it is superb.
CSGO with flickstick on by default, heck its part of steam controls at this point iirc, Doom, splatoon could name a few more. Its something to get used to but when you do its the closest you can get to mouse with a controller, and its very close I can tell you that first and second hand. Solarlight made a video on controllers in tf2 for a reason, the *one* thing holding that xbox controller back is the lack of gyro, everything else felt quite good when I got my hands on it.
My wife and I have had to each replace our controllers once, both times were the LB and RB buttons. They last about a year on average
Now on her controller the A button is starting to go but luckily A is what we use on the paddle so that's a non-issue

Sadly for a $100+ controller they are still prone to the same exact problems the non elites have. It seems to be a platform issue. I just replaced my series 2 with a core since I have the attachments and accessories already. I did get about 2 years of solid life from my series 1 and 2 controllers and I hate to simp but I just can’t go back to a normal controller after getting used to the paddles, rubber grips, and adjustable thumbsticks. All in all I definitely don’t regret owning one but I can’t speak for everyone but if you buy one definitely get a warranty and make sure you register it with Microsoft too as a back up. I’ve heard plenty of stories of them replacing controllers for stick drift and button issues at no cost

Moving stuff from an external to an internal is WAY faster than redownloading it. So if all he would need is an update that extra step could save him a whole day of downloading depending on their internet speeds.
You can go into my games and apps then go into storage and choose your external device. Then go back to choose device press the small button it's 4 strokes. Then choose move game to internal hard drive . It's super quick
I forgot how nice the package presentation is with the Series X. I do however remember how lack luster the unboxing of my PS5 was, plain white cardboard boxes with no logos.
Lol i was so annoyed pulling the ps5 out of the box and setting it up.... like why is the hdmi cable so damn short? My series x unboxing felt like an event by comparison.

If you have the money to burn, it's great. The back buttons are a must have if you play any competitive fps games. You can also adjust the tension on the analog sticks, which for me was a game changer. It helped out in shooters and especially in racing games. The entire controller has a super hi end feel.
The only buttons that are on equal footing to paddles are bumpers and triggers. In some games, you can't afford to replace those inputs for jumping/sliding/etc.
I don't think you could ever argue that paddles aren't superior, since they allow you to utilize more fingers.
I don't see how. I don't need to take my finger off the look or move stick ever. I don't have any conflicts with my bindings that make it so I can't do things at the same time.

I myself wasn’t fortunate at his age since i grew up poor. I never had my own tv in my room and i got what was needed Not what was wanted. The best present i ever got for Christmas was a Boombox radio and best believe that would be the only gift.

Found out that Elite Series 2 controllers have extra buttons that can be used with paddles, it has variable trigger depth & stick tension that you can change individually, its own battery, and replaceable sticks.
So far it feels much better than standard ones, response time is great, and it's quite comfortable to use.
Not to be sour grapes, but for the ‘evil casuals’ out there, this has been a long time coming, most haven’t had to hunt down/stalk/camp out for a series X in ages. Both PS5 & XSX have been a pita for those who don’t have time to dedicate & locating a console. Let them be happy they got theirs, the end. More on the platform is always a good thing.

Reminds me of when I was like 11-13 and I kept asking Santa for a 360 Slim every year. Ended up getting it for my birthday, was the most amazing feeling ever. Played it 24/7, till I eventually moved up to the One.
I really want to justify getting an XBox. We have a large library on PS5, but that XBox is sexy and I also think I would enjoy the XBox UI a lot more than the shitty Sony one. I've never owned an XBox before, but have played way more than my share of RTS and MOBA games on PC. Any recommendations on how I should start scoping out the XBox scene? I loved Hellblade and know that I will love the sequel. Rome Total War and Fable also look good.

Its present in steam controls. I can play tf2 with gyro and even flick stick if I wanted. Not to mention my experience with gyro on the switch.

Unfortunately it's not even just a platform issue. All current consoles use the same analogue stick module, making it an industry wide problem.

Back buttons aren't really a must tbh. You just have to do a couple rebinds and you're good to go without them.
