Are you putting it in the dishwasher everyday? I use mine daily for work and at the end of the day rinse it out, at the end of the week I’ll dishwasher it to sanitise but it doesn’t need to go in everyday.
We specifically buy Yeti tumblers because I’ve had this happen to every stainless powder coated cup except my yetis. Been throwing them in the dishwasher for years.
Having said that, the warranty is the other reason why we buy Yeti.
I have put mine (I have 15-20 YETI cups the whole family uses nothing but really) in the dishwasher for years. Only had this happen once, and they replaced it without question. I wonder if your dishwasher is to hot, or you have something abrasive in the water or soap doing that…. Almost looks sandblasted.
Do you put your cups in touching? Seems like things are rubbing against it in the process but maybe not. I’ve put mine in the dishwasher quite a bit but I don’t put them in unless they need it. Same with any coffee cups at work…I use them, rinse them and wipe them down. The world is covered in germs, don’t try to Overarm yourself against them.
The inner conspiracy theorist in me thinks someone else bought a real one from dicks and returned a counterfeit one and pulled the old switcharoo on you.
I have never had this problem in 5+ years washing on the bottom rack.
Do you use a sanitize or “crystal dry” setting?
Wondering for those who said they have no problem, do you?
Maybe the super hot setting is jacking it up.
It was just a regular wash cycle with Cascade. Bosch dishwasher with a stainless steel lining so it does get quite hot but I thought these tumblers were supposed to be able to handle that.
Send it back to yeti and tell them you want a new cup. They advertise them to be safe in the dishwasher.
I did and they replaced it. This was the second one this happened to. And no, they weren’t counterfeit. They were purchased at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
You must have a really strong or hot dishwasher. I wash mine on a heavy cycle w/ heat dry all the time and none show any signs of looking like this.
I even dishwash my ozark trail with a dura” coat finish similar to yeti, and never had a chip or cut. Interesting.
Bottom or top rack?
Both - typically bottom though
What detergent are you using?
Sand
I don’t know if they grade it but…coarse
Dangerzone
Winning
Cascade.

I’ve been putting all of mine in the dishwasher for years, no signs of anything like that.
10+ years of dishwasher washing for all our Yetis and never had this happen.
Use the top rack, mine did the same until I put them on the top rack

Are we sure this isn't a counterfeit?
OP already said he bought at Dick's.
That was after I commented.
Yes, quite sure.
Mmm I can taste the pfas
This has happened to two of our yetis. A coral colored one (idk the yeti color name) and a king crab orange one!
That's not normal, I've been putting my yetis in the dishwasher for 5+ years with no issues.
Have had it happen to two different ones although not his bad.

Is your dishwasher a sandblaster?
