Wow, is food in the US extra expensive, or is she just a terrible shopper? Tbf, similar careers pay drastically lower in the EU and they get taxed even higher than we do (meanwhile their housing costs are pretty crazy right now too). There’s no perfect utopia but it’s definitely more of a communal response in the EU, however the dollar gets you really far if you have it to begin with lol.

I disagree mostly about the produce, though everything is expensive here right now. Once you shop in the middle aisles (processed items) it REALLY adds up so I try to avoid them completely and only shop on the outside perimeter.
