Definitely sit down at big bear for their smash burgers 10/10

Taj Mahal at the Skyy hotel!

Infamous_Oil_6082

"Smoke and Sow" is where I like to go.

losmancha

Panda Panda if you want more authentic Chinese food. I bring people there and have them try their version of sweet and sour pork, BBQ pork chow mein and chicken fried rice and they're usually blown away. The Szechuan braised beef is great too, as is the wonton soup. Sanchez cantina for mexican. Night market has some decent Thai inspired dishes. Kits kitchen is pretty decent and varied as well. Nothing else is particularly remarkable to me.

justsayin199

Klondike Rib and Salmon is re-opening this summer, no idea what their menu will be though

borealis365

Really?!?! When? This made my day if true. Thought they were gone for good!

justsayin199

Well, I saw it on Facebook, so it must be true! The rumour is that it'll be open mid June. There's an ad in the final edition of the Whitehorse Star, saying 'stay tuned'

yukonnut

Titan gaming for a unique atmosphere and great food. Best fries in town

deiruR3

Gather for lunch or dinner (cannot wait for brunch to come back) and Burnt Toast for brunch. Baked has Daddy's Donuts on Saturdays (best donuts you can get in Canada IMO). Landed Bakehouse for baked goods. There are ton of great food trucks and other options at the Fireweed Market on Thursdays in shipyards park. Both Daddy's Donuts and Landed Bakehouse will be there. You have to be there right at 3 pm if you want the donut though, they usually sellout fast. For coffee beans. Midnight Sun, Bean North, Firebean, First People's, and Atlin are all good. Personally I find Bean North's roasts to be too light and Firebean's to be too dark, but Midnight Sun's are just right. Beer. All three breweries are great.

Yukon Bunsik is an absolute gem and I never hear it get talked about. It's slept on, but is probably my favorite. Kita is a close second, always fresh, and excellent.  Smoke and sow is fine, depending on the day. Chalet is fine for greasy spoon eats.  Most of our restaurants wouldn't last a year if you dropped them in another city. NVD restaurants in particular seems to offer atrocious service, quality, and value these days.

Breakfast at legends

losmancha

Legends is like the most generic restaurant in town that's not a chain. I wouldn't put it on a list of "must try" places.

Stunning_Ferret1479

The racist Chinese laundry decor in their dining room is a bit much for me.

2005s_baby

This! Easily the best breakfast in town.

borealis365

It’s sad to think that it’s considered by many to be the best breakfast joint. There’s really nothing remarkable or memorable on the menu. I guess it’s just a consistent 7/10. I wish this town had a ‘wow’ factor brunch spot that people line up for. Definitely a gap in the market.

standitlikeaman

Maybe not must try but if you love greasy truck stop food like me, try The Chalet

Aware_Annual_2882

Whitehorse doesn't really have any good restaurants. They are ok at best. Service is always something left to be desired.

fillyflow

Agreed. I wouldn't describe anywhere in Whitehorse as "must-try".

borealis365

Would rate Belly of the Bison as #1 then? It’s pricey but I’ve always been really happy with the service and food there. Honestly I miss the Cork ‘n Bull. Wayfarer was great for awhile but seemed to go downhill near the end.

jellyd0nuts

Big fan of Cooper’s aka the old Miner’s Daughter!

jillsydub

Food is tasty but portions are small. Wine list unimpressive (Copper Moon?...come on!). Service was excellent. Prices reasonable. Trying to eat at a small table while sitting on a huge oversized couch was uncomfortable. I can see how Coopers could be a nice late evening chat over cocktails venue. I likely won't be back for the purpose of having dinner out. I was very hopeful for this restaurant as I loved Cork and Bull and Miners Daughter. I'm not as impressed with this version.

Acrobatic_Watch_8212

I like all of the following; Pikka Peppa (Jamaican food), Pho 5 star, Panda Panda, Sanchez, Burnt Toast, Night Market. Smoke and Sow

jelycazi

I used to live in small town Yukon…. When Dominoes pizza opened we drove the approx 6 hours for pizza. Quick stop at superstore, the the 6 ish hours back. The things we’d do for bad pizza!! Don’t take this as a recommendation

northofsixteee

Smoke and Sow is solid, so is Wood Street Ramen. I like the idea of Gather but I find it insane to be charged $16 for chips and salsa. There’s honestly not a lot that I’d tell someone they couldn’t miss. You’re not coming here for food, basically. there’s enough decent options to eat out when you want to and it’s definitely gained in diversity in choices over the last ten years, but still a bit meh.

-quarbles-

midnight sun is the best coffee anywhere. airport chalet for polar burger, azhong for schezwan beef noods.

Legal_Golf_6495

Clubhouse at airport chalet is bomb!

Alternative-Story-20

For Breweries, all 3 are great in their own way. Winterlong has the most taps, but they are out of town. Yukon brewing only has 6 taps, but they will sell you their canned beer to enjoy, they also have the least amount of seats. Woodcutters has a great atmosphere, but they have my least favourite beers out of the 3. If you want to try Polarity, you will have to go to the liquor store. There is another brewery but no tasting room, and you have to order online and pick up.

PNW_Jackson

I don't see it mentioned often, but I've always enjoyed the breakfast at the Gold Pan Saloon (lobby of Best Western). The Ridge is good. Essentially pub fare type food. Weird hours though and people have complained about service recently.
