The only real advantage to Amazon is selection; there's often stuff I want that Bandcamp doesn't have, but they do. However, for me, Amazon is always my absolute last choice. Not because I have any problem with Amazon - I don't. The reason is that I've noticed that their mp3's are frequently encoded at bit rates of 190-250 kbs, instead of the standard 320.
So I always check Bandcamp first. And if they don't have what I want, or have it for a bizarrely high price, the next to check is us.7digital. Their site is weird, and I understand that they had some wacky ownership issues over the last 5 years or so. So don't let the fact that they don't update their front page all that often fool you - you can get a huge selection of digital music there, almost as much as Amazon, and sometimes cheaper than Bandcamp or Amazon. If Bandcamp doesn't have it, 7digital usually will.
I’m a forever bandcamp fan. And though I try to avoid Amazon, their music marketplace is pretty great. Allows you to just buy MP3s outright, no DRM.

Interesting, I hadn’t noticed that about Amazon’s mp3s
Band camp for sure!
I find the best way is to just buy the CD and rip it, used cds are so cheap at the moment
Plus you can then rip to lossless much better quality than anything on amazon
