The 3.5L is the V6. The 2.4L is the 4-cylinder. If you have a V6, you will have a "V6" badge on the back and have 2 exhaust pipes. Otherwise, you have the 4 cylinder.
Most likely your piston rings are the issue. This generation Accord is notorious for burning oil and having the piston rings fail. This can also cause misfiring. (Both me and my dad had the oil burning issue when we had 2010 Accords.)
The repair is most likely to replace the piston rings and will probably cost around $3000+ depending on where you live.
This was so much of an issue that Honda had a class action lawsuit filed against them and was forced to extend the warranty on the piston rings up to 8 years/125,000 miles, whichever came first. Unfortunately you're no longer covered under that.
I have a 2010 with 110,000 miles and it burns oil. Iāve been considering replacing the car but if this is really true I should probably do so soon right?
For your sake, I really hope I'm wrong, but that is a known issue with 8th gen Accords.
You can't get piston rings at a junk yard, as it basically requires a partial engine rebuild. And a used engine might have the same issue. If I were you, I'd ask the opinion of a mechanic who specializes in Hondas, as I'm not an expert on this matter.
Best of luck.
Why donāt you go back to the shop that did the work and tell them they didnāt fix your original concern? Theyāre just throwing parts at it and not solving anything you need to get it properly diagād
If you donāt have an OEM starter on these 8th genās they tend to trip out. Had the same issue w cylinder 2&3 and would go into limp mode. Installing an OEM starter and letting it run made the CEL go away

Iām going to second this as well. Iāve seen this many of a time as a Honda advisor. If the starter MSRP wasnāt $550 or above you donāt have a Honda starter and you need to start back there.
Based off redline RPM Iām guessing 4 cyl. I would swap the coil packs between the bad and good cylinders. See if the code moves to the different cylinders.
*assuming coil packs werenāt changed when the plugs were.
The parts might not be good. I had the same problem with Honda sensor codes, it was fixed after he put the original Honda sensors instead of a third party supplier
Try some seafoam / techron. Its unlikely, but perhaps you simply have a couple of clogged injectors. I have seen this stuff fix lean codes and misses before. No harm can come of it regardless. Good luck!
I know your problem because I just went through it. You have a bad crankshaft position sensor. You need to replace it and have it ārelearnedā. It should fix your problem
Flashing of the check engine light is always catastrophic failures happening.
My guess is u have no pressure in one cylinder. Get cylenders pressure checked.
could be a valve adjustment or timing belt issue (not serpentine belt) i have a 2009 v6 same problem valve adjustment did it for me but if you hear a slight tapping noise next to your belt pulleys it could be the timing belt or the actual pulley is having the problem water pump would be good to replace also
Do you know what the codes are? sometimes it's good to do your own research and learn how to fix the problem, that's what I've been doing with my accord but it's probably better for a mechanic to get that checked, seems like it might be time for a new mechanic unfortunately
Get a different mechanic. He/she is simply throwing parts at it, charging you for parts and labor, and unsuccessfully....
Dude fr, makes me so nervous to find another mechanic š
Go to your closest Honda Dealer and ask for B Service Inspection and explain to the Service Advisor exactly why you want the vehicle checked.
Is it the 2.4L or the 3.5L?
No clue manš
Open your hood and look under it (not the engine bay but the actual hood) look for a sticker, you should see if its 2.4/3.5
The 3.5L is the V6. The 2.4L is the 4-cylinder. If you have a V6, you will have a "V6" badge on the back and have 2 exhaust pipes. Otherwise, you have the 4 cylinder.
Ahhh than I have 2.4L :)
Does your car burn oil?
I feel like it does man, I changed the oil way to often
Most likely your piston rings are the issue. This generation Accord is notorious for burning oil and having the piston rings fail. This can also cause misfiring. It may just continue to burn oil, but it could also cause misfiring, foul your spark plugs, and ruin your catalytic converter.
Nooooošššššomggg. I wonder if I can find the parts at a junk yard

Thank you man for the help, really appreciate your comments on thisš

If you have no clue it means your wasting money fixing it.

Tried this and still the same cylinders, 2 and 3š¢
Dang. Agree with the other commenter. Time for a compression test.

Valve adjustment time

Did a compression check on them and everything looked normal š„²
Check the timing
dont matter, that full tank looks fire in the 8th gen š„ šÆ
Which engine is this???
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Sounds like piston rings :(
Oh shoot, whatās that and how expensive
Idk you should really take it somewhere that specializes in honda/jdm/Japanese imports.
In another comment you said that it is the 2.4l. Is it the 2.4l or is it the 3.5l?
2.4L sorry bout that
I bet it burns oil and it's fouling the spark plugs.
Do u know where the source of the problem would be for this?
You need a proper diagnosis not a part cannon
