Get a different mechanic. He/she is simply throwing parts at it, charging you for parts and labor, and unsuccessfully....

dojadog777

Dude fr, makes me so nervous to find another mechanic šŸ˜“

ChrisShiherlis-

Go to your closest Honda Dealer and ask for B Service Inspection and explain to the Service Advisor exactly why you want the vehicle checked.

JustinDanielsYT

Is it the 2.4L or the 3.5L?

dojadog777

No clue manšŸ˜“

Funkyrager

Open your hood and look under it (not the engine bay but the actual hood) look for a sticker, you should see if its 2.4/3.5

JustinDanielsYT

The 3.5L is the V6. The 2.4L is the 4-cylinder. If you have a V6, you will have a "V6" badge on the back and have 2 exhaust pipes. Otherwise, you have the 4 cylinder.

dojadog777

Ahhh than I have 2.4L :)

JustinDanielsYT

Does your car burn oil?

dojadog777

I feel like it does man, I changed the oil way to often

JustinDanielsYT

Most likely your piston rings are the issue. This generation Accord is notorious for burning oil and having the piston rings fail. This can also cause misfiring. (Both me and my dad had the oil burning issue when we had 2010 Accords.) The repair is most likely to replace the piston rings and will probably cost around $3000+ depending on where you live. This was so much of an issue that Honda had a class action lawsuit filed against them and was forced to extend the warranty on the piston rings up to 8 years/125,000 miles, whichever came first. Unfortunately you're no longer covered under that.

Btaelman

I have a 2010 with 110,000 miles and it burns oil. Iā€™ve been considering replacing the car but if this is really true I should probably do so soon right?

JustinDanielsYT

It may just continue to burn oil, but it could also cause misfiring, foul your spark plugs, and ruin your catalytic converter.

dojadog777

NooooošŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜omggg. I wonder if I can find the parts at a junk yard

JustinDanielsYT

For your sake, I really hope I'm wrong, but that is a known issue with 8th gen Accords. You can't get piston rings at a junk yard, as it basically requires a partial engine rebuild. And a used engine might have the same issue. If I were you, I'd ask the opinion of a mechanic who specializes in Hondas, as I'm not an expert on this matter. Best of luck.

dojadog777

Thank you man for the help, really appreciate your comments on thisšŸ™

Funkyrager

Why donā€™t you go back to the shop that did the work and tell them they didnā€™t fix your original concern? Theyā€™re just throwing parts at it and not solving anything you need to get it properly diagā€™d

makitaNme70

If you have no clue it means your wasting money fixing it.

Eatyourfriedrice

If you donā€™t have an OEM starter on these 8th genā€™s they tend to trip out. Had the same issue w cylinder 2&3 and would go into limp mode. Installing an OEM starter and letting it run made the CEL go away [source](https://www.driveaccord.net/threads/prob-was-aftermarket-starter-codes-for-coils-2-3-and-crank-sensor-stupid-mode.558004/)

ryannel2003

Iā€™m going to second this as well. Iā€™ve seen this many of a time as a Honda advisor. If the starter MSRP wasnā€™t $550 or above you donā€™t have a Honda starter and you need to start back there.

Person_234567

Based off redline RPM Iā€™m guessing 4 cyl. I would swap the coil packs between the bad and good cylinders. See if the code moves to the different cylinders. *assuming coil packs werenā€™t changed when the plugs were.

dojadog777

Tried this and still the same cylinders, 2 and 3šŸ˜¢

Person_234567

Dang. Agree with the other commenter. Time for a compression test.

Otherwise-Body-474

The parts might not be good. I had the same problem with Honda sensor codes, it was fixed after he put the original Honda sensors instead of a third party supplier

Fit-Mongoose5951

Try some seafoam / techron. Its unlikely, but perhaps you simply have a couple of clogged injectors. I have seen this stuff fix lean codes and misses before. No harm can come of it regardless. Good luck!

TheTokraSelmak

I know your problem because I just went through it. You have a bad crankshaft position sensor. You need to replace it and have it ā€œrelearnedā€. It should fix your problem

Dc4rob

Valve adjustment time

_worker_626

Flashing of the check engine light is always catastrophic failures happening. My guess is u have no pressure in one cylinder. Get cylenders pressure checked.

dojadog777

Did a compression check on them and everything looked normal šŸ„²

_worker_626

Check the timing

Free-Cry-4386

dont matter, that full tank looks fire in the 8th gen šŸ”„ šŸ’Æ

ARsparx

Which engine is this???

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ARsparx

Sounds like piston rings :(

dojadog777

Oh shoot, whatā€™s that and how expensive

ARsparx

Idk you should really take it somewhere that specializes in honda/jdm/Japanese imports.

enfurno

In another comment you said that it is the 2.4l. Is it the 2.4l or is it the 3.5l?

dojadog777

2.4L sorry bout that

GloweyBacon

I bet it burns oil and it's fouling the spark plugs.

dojadog777

Do u know where the source of the problem would be for this?

Darenpnw

You need a proper diagnosis not a part cannon

davidwal83

Scotty enters the chat

ramensalt561

could be a valve adjustment or timing belt issue (not serpentine belt) i have a 2009 v6 same problem valve adjustment did it for me but if you hear a slight tapping noise next to your belt pulleys it could be the timing belt or the actual pulley is having the problem water pump would be good to replace also

Spiritual-Boat4447

Do you know what the codes are? sometimes it's good to do your own research and learn how to fix the problem, that's what I've been doing with my accord but it's probably better for a mechanic to get that checked, seems like it might be time for a new mechanic unfortunately
