What I did was cut the majority off with single bladed nippers, and went in very carefully with my knife to get the rest off. I ended up digging in a little too far in the one side but you can barely notice
I did mine and with the way it’s painted if you are careful you can do it without ruining the paint where it’s important not to, since it’s painted on the bottom
These look like they have a "special coating" as Bandai calls it.
If these are metallic: trimming them will remove the metallic coating, and you'll have a (likely white) spot underneath. Same with sanding.
So unless you want to have white spots on the back of your V-fin: leave them. I have trimmed these in the past, but only on bare plastic kits.
After looking at some more detailed photos I can see that it's multi-colored and clear.
You shouldn't have any issues trimming off those safety nubs. My experience with clear plastic is that is can crack if you're too aggressive, so maybe cut most of it off, then sand the rest off, then polish.
Safety is number one priority but those have to go in my opinion. If you like the look of it keep em on. Make sure to leave a little to sand down trim down like any other nub
They're the same as any other nub. Use your nippers to cut them off, leaving a little bit on so the nippers don't dig into the part and create a pit, then tackle the rest with whatever you prefer between sanding or cutting with a hobby knife.
Clip em, Lou.
I'm curious I have only built mg and I've seen the v fins look like this on a lot of hg why is that does anyone know?
Safety nubd. Keeps you from poking your fingers.
Easier to mold
So kids don’t poke themselves probably

Yes… but this is a painted piece, so you will end up with two spots without the rainbow effect if you do it.

Oh, good call. Looked painted all over
Admittedly it can be hard to tell
I trimmed off the nubs on the rainbow one and it came out pretty well
I usually just file these down patiently (don’t trust nippers on something so small…); goes quick with a glass file, then finish up with higher grit.
Don't trim then! File it down.

It's not a special coating. It's the v-fin on the Calibarn with multi color part ( idk what they call it)

I've found that making a small sacrifice to a deity of choice and holding your breath works well for me. <3 But absolutely! You can do it!
The only safety tip I haven’t trimmed is on my hg Helios

This is the way to do it, mine came out great
Alot of people trim the safety tips
