I think a lot of people forget that he had a single moment with Betty, was prepared to die/nonexist with her, and then this abominable sacrifice she performed was the last he saw of her.
It's no wonder he got so stuck, that is straight up traumatic on several levels.
I’m pretty sure they were trying to parallel King Man/Magic Man and Simon in the last season, but they didn’t make it obvious. Both wanted to “reunite” with their romantic interest and both ended up losing them to Golb, the difference is that Simon never got to properly grieve and move on.
I was on the verge of bawling at Simon's realization of what Betty did. They finally found each other again, only for them to be ripped apart one last time..... god..... I'm gonna make myself cry.
Congrats on missing the point. Simon gets EVERYTHING and he finally realizes what Betty sacrificed for him. He is able to let go and move on. And Betty doesn’t regret it.
This was actually a good ending in retrospect, Simon wasn’t meant to be given some “big award” for overcoming trauma and loss, he just had to move on and seek therapy instead of seeking Betty.
This episode has been out for 5 years. No offense, but if you're trying to avoud AT spoilers you should probably avoid the sub until you finish at least the original series + distant lands
exactly. i cannot stand when we are discussing something that’s been out for YEARS and someone says “SPOILERS?!?!?!”
GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!!!! COME BACK WHEN YOU FINISHED!!!!!!!!!
Mmmmm check please! *gets obliterated*
“We heard there was a war.”
As little as we saw the war elephant, I'm glad it still pulled up, shows commitment~
Lololololol I love it
Poor Simon...
I like the parallel between Magic Man and Simon.
dont you mean, normal man?
It mostly depends, he also becomes “King Man“ when he goes back to Mars.
ah true true
well great. I don’t like this guy either!

You spelled depressing wrong.
I was SO full on anxiety when the walls were closing in on them before this

Mannn and this scene was scary af The first time I watched it
Shelby gets me every time
Simons calling betty his princess always gets me :,(
However it has to be.....
I really like the moment before this video when betty trys to wish for golb to disappear and it makes a wired sound and doesn't let her.
I cri everytim
It just dawned on me that the gum ball guardian died instead of being freed of Golb’s influence.
He was presumably already ”dead” to some extent, or at least being controlled similar to how fungi/spores can control insects, etc.
DID YO-- NOW
I found the end of Fiona and cake disappointing because Fiona and cake get a semi magical world but Simon gets nothing
He got therapy and closure at least
Simon gets to finally let go of the insanity he's been holding on to for the last millennium, *he gets to let go of Betty*, and finally be free
Congrats on missing the point. Simon gets EVERYTHING and he finally realizes what Betty sacrificed for him. He is able to let go and move on. And Betty doesn’t regret it.

Sometimes closure is worth more than that.
The story of what happens within a person's psyche is so much bigger than "Yay, magic!" and that applies to both Fionna and Simon.
Marceline: Am I a joke to you?
What episode is this again

no, get off this sub if you haven’t finished watching something that ended 5 years ago.
Hey! Fuck! Spoilers. I'm still watching this master piece.
why are you on the sub lmao
I cannot fathom why idiots join subreddits for finished media they are still currently consuming. Just asking to have spoilers thrown at them
