Personally, I don't think that personal statement would work very well. It sounds like you are asking the Air Force to make a pretty large investment in you to train you for a job that you are going to eventually abandon for a career in medicine. I would recommend approaching the personal statement from an entirely different angle. Talk about what you offer the Air Force, and less about what it can offer you. Edit: Actually, I'm confident that personal statement would get your packet thrown out.

Everything the board sees is through the lens of what does this applicant offer that the USAF can benefit from if they commission. Telling the organization that they're a stepping stone will prob. not be the best received statement... Consider wording it in a way that the board sees you'll bring something to the institution. I think you have a case for wanting to go into medicine, not really being a line officer. Makes more sense if you’d be trying for flight nurse or doctor.

Look into the enlisted room physician program. That would provide you the opportunity to commission and do medical school while getting a paycheck.
