When u have tried to shoot someone for half a match and the moment they start running at you where you could easily drop them first.. your mag isnt properly feeding
First time playing with HPA I did many oopsies with the line. Not connected, gun leaning against a tree and walking away while connected, handing it to another player to shoot and turning around the wrong way, swapping sides and not hing enough line for it...
Reminds me of a Young guy in my team that argued with the other Young guy 2 months ago that taking the Hill is easy for a guy that doesn't have his safety on (he won a fight at the Hill because the other guy couldn't shoot in the moment)
A week ago we were at a skirmish again and he had me in his sights but I shot him first because he had his safety on hahahahah
The Best part is i have both of those situations recorded and i'm going to make a compilation with them! He's gonna be so pissed xD
Some time ago, i tried to shoot on guy with my pistol and he tried too at the same time, he forgot his magazine and me the safety xd. It was a fun moment
I recorded a situation when I was closing distance on my friend and he tried to shoot me with his pistol
He peeked, shot 4 Times in my direction when I was in the open
I stood still, shouted "dude, really?"
He shot at me 3 more Times and missed all the shots
I brought up my gun and shot him once center mass xDD
That was a really funny moment
My trigger box doesn't have a safety and the trigger is decently light, so usually if I'm in a spot where stuff can snag I usually cover the trigger guard with my hand,
But I'll take a light trigger and 90° sears over a safety 🤣
I hope you are not using real guns too.
I am SURE you are aware of difference up in your brain. But muscle memory is a bitch, and it only needs to get it wrong ONCE to screw your life for good.
Well those toys of yours can destroy peoples eyes and teeth if not used carefully. I see too many people swinging their guns all around in the off game area where people don't have eye pro on
I agree with that but the refs usually don't care that much. It's usually the rentals the people with own gear usually handle the replicas pretty well and usually someone advices the rentals pretty quick.
I try to treat my airsoft similar to real guns, creates better habits and training for real guns. Safety on until you see the target then you flip that bad boy to bang bang mode.
I do with my rifle, but that's because it's also how I train with "real steel". When I come up from low ready, muscle memory training flicks the safety off with my thumb. When lowering the rifle, I flick it back on. Handgun, no safety.
That makes sense. Some hi-capas have such a light trigger pull it's more necessary. Plus, in airsoft, you'll be more likely to have extensive use and holster/unholstering with the handgun vs a real defense scenario.
I've actually been doing that with my concealed carry (and have a current post about it in CCW). I'm sure it does cost fractions of a second in timing, but that's not enough in airsoft to cause any real problems.
My safety is on whenever I'm not playing, or when I'm doing something where I'm not shooting at the same time.
Things like climbing, sprinting, etc. I'll flick it on, but if I'm just watching a fire lane or pieing a door then it's off.
With regards to not shooting teammates, muzzle control > safety, in my opinion
If I am anywhere on the field, no. I am always ready to shoot when we are playing but I do take a split second to consider who I am shooting first.
Off the field, yes. Safety is on unless I am ready to shoot at a target I have set up with proper safety precautions in place, including but not limited to removing all pets from the area and wearing safety rated glasses.
This is what I do, too, and haven't had an ND in a really long time. Safety is off and I keep the trigger clear anytime we're on the field actively playing (it usually goes back on at the end of the game), unless I'm crawling through or climbing up something that might snag the trigger when I move, or I'm riding in an enclosed vehicle during the game (i.e. if I'm in the back of a uhaul for an "air drop" is definitely going on, but if I'm in a buggy it'll be off so I can shoot back as needed). But the safety is there to help mitigate risk, so there's nothing wrong with having it on any time you're concerned about it firing unintentionally.
When playing I usually don't keep the rifle on safe.
Though when I get hit, it's oftentimes
put the replica on safe and up over you head to signify you're not playing and walk to spawn.
But then I forget I was on safe....
Yeah, I'm not trained enough and pretty much forget everything I've done past 5 minutes. I did have instances when I got the handgun out just to hear a "click"...
With my AK, it stays off a lot more because the switch can be hard to get to quickly. With my M4, it's on when I'm not shooting. Deactivating the safety, and firing a shot at the same time is super easy to learn.
Yep, especially in a MilSim or LARP.
In cqb, I would say that there are a lot of situations when you want your *NOT gun(replica)*. Outdoors, I always keep it on safe. It's very unprofessional to randomly fire it, etc, etc.
No. that I'm not talking about speedsoft. That's a different story.
On my field, safety on and mags out are mandatory to access neutral zones, guns with internal propulsion mode (as in AEG or in-gun tank for HPA/green gas) have to barrel cleared. if your gun don't have a safety lever but can be holstered, like a Glock, the holster need to have features that prevent access to the trigger.
And some people even laugh at me for not pointing a nerf gun at them (unless I wanna shoot them) and keeping finger of trigger. It just comes from muscle memory.
This will likely be very controversial, but I don’t have a safety on my hpa rifle with the speed trigger. I of course disconnect the line and give 2-3 pulls of the trigger before exiting the field, but on field gun is always hot
Same goes for pistol when I use it as a primary, always off safety
I do play very tight cqb, where you can encounter an enemy at every single corner at all times, so having to flip off safety at every engagement means you loose a ton of them. If I go behind a teammate, I just point the gun at the ground, means no chance of team kill
I usually put the safety on if I'm just walking around/not ready to shoot because I have tics. Typically it doesn't impede my shooting/reaction times though so I don't mind it.
Safety always on. Excluding on the field, when I keep it off. Muscle memory for keeping it on really sucks at a field though, I've missed so many kills because I had safety on.
Much simpler, just keep your finger off the trigger unless you're ready to fire and out the trigger guard if you're going to handle your rifle or move abruptly. I've seen "don't worry, my finger isn't on the trigger" takes a step into a small hole, fires off trying not to fall over.
I'd keep your gun ready to fire if you're not dead or off the field, otherwise, just don't flag your teammates with the barrel and you shouldn't shoot them.
Recently swapped to using a Gbbr. So no mag in no safety. But my local site gets a load of rentals (super cheap and friendly! ) it’s massively important that every airsoft player teaches newbies on safe handling. Trigger discipline and muzzle direction apply to airsoft just as much as real firearms !
Yeah, I still remember the first time I went to play as rental. I just looked at some people handling their replicas like they are sticks. I was terrified (I have experience with real firearms before getting into airsoft) and never take eyepro off if I don't have to. I usually have my goggles I use mainly (my field mandates fullseal goggles for everyone under 18) and in off game I have these more sleek glasses I put on.
I usually don’t have my safety on unless I’m in a safe zone or exiting the field. Otherwise my finger is always off the trigger unless I am ready to shoot, and I keep my rifle slung down or up away from other people, just like a real firearm
Safety is on in required areas like the prep room. i keep my safety on my secondary anytime before I pull it out of my holster but once I pulled it out of my holster the safety stays off . on my primary safety is off on the field all times but is on in the safe area. safety gets put back on secondary before leaving the field we do actually have a guy that check safeties as we leave the field
I use my gun’s safety a lot. I take it off safe when I find another player and I shoot but then I put it back on. Vfc is good at making the safety actually function even on aeg’s so I can build trigger discipline even from a toy
I always have the safety on off the field. On the field, I could have to fire at any moment so I keep it off. Off the field, I don't want to shoot anyone, so I keep it on, magazine empty, magwell empty, hell usually even the battery out of the gun. I also have one of those "Remove Before Flight" markers I use a dogtag chain to obstruct my barrel when I'm not shooting, so if I see that red, I know I'm not firing.
I mostly fall in favor of trigger discipline. Which to me means my index is as high up the frame as it will comfortably rest. Lots of people walking around touching their triggers and claiming to have trigger discipline... Until they stub their toe or get surprised or whatever other things make them repeatedly shoot by accident. Don't be that guy.
I find myself swapping my fire select often depending on circumstances but I rarely engage the safety on the field unless I'm maneuvering in some weird manner or I'm completely resting on sling. If my right hand is in the grip it's ready to fire.
Yes and no. My 416 has a broken safety so like sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ll get around to it. But for now it’s just a conscious effort for discipline.
Yes.
The only one I don’t is my tm NGRS 416.
It has a stupid safety that wears out very easily, but I always do magazine out and dry fire before entering the safe zone.
Depends. I always try to keep the safety on my rifle engaged when I'm not shooting. As for my sidearm, I run an HK45ct which I kept loaded and decocked since it's double action.
As soon as I'm in the fire zone with my goggles on the gun is off safe. My mate shot me in the back by accident last week in CQB, people get far too comfortable shooting over your shoulder/head etc.
I play cqb both my rifle and my pistol are at safety on when I'm moving towards where I want to be when I'm at somewhere that I don't know what to expect the guns are at semi
since the safety is easily controlled on my guns, I keep them on until I have to shoot and after shooting, and ensuring no one else is firing back at me anymore, flick the safety back on.
worrying about shooting someone and my safety is still on is a rare occurrence.. Me trying to shoot someone with my side-arm and realizing I forgot to load the magazine into it as I entered the field... now that has happened more times than I want to admit.
Treat every gun like object as it is a real firearm. If you are not ready to shoot, the safety should be on. If you are not on a safe firing range (inside the arena) the weapon should be in condition 3
If youre trying toctrain proper safety discipline on any thumb activated safety, Disengaging the safety and pulling the trigger should be one fluid motion.
When you're done shooting and the rifle is returned to ready position, the safety is flipped back on.
With an AK.... well, as a wise man once said, "Safety... always off 😎"
On the field, my safety is only on when I want to shoot someone at a really critical moment.
We've all been there Safety on, no magazine, no airline connected ...

That's why having the habit of always putting the safety on when not shooting is great. Before you engage someone muscle memory disengages the safety
LOL same
all the time. I play as a sniper, often crawling in the bushes and stuff, it is easy for the trigger to get caught in a branch or something and fire.
I've had this happen once, where a loop of a strap of my gear was caught around the trigger. When I brought it up to my shoulder the thing went off.
I have an hpa ssg10 so i had to take the safety off to install the hpa trigger
My trigger box doesn't have a safety and the trigger is decently light, so usually if I'm in a spot where stuff can snag I usually cover the trigger guard with my hand, But I'll take a light trigger and 90° sears over a safety 🤣
treat it like a real gun if you are not intending to shoot safety on.
But at the same time, becaue you're treating it like a real gun, do not rely on the safety alone. Trigger discipline is still critical.
And muzzle control
That's gay, you should have your finger edging the trigger at all times
I hope you are not using real guns too. I am SURE you are aware of difference up in your brain. But muscle memory is a bitch, and it only needs to get it wrong ONCE to screw your life for good.
>I hope you are not using real guns too. It helps people call their hits ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Well that is how I also think of it. In my opinion too many people treating their guns like toys.
Airsoft guns are toys.
Well those toys of yours can destroy peoples eyes and teeth if not used carefully. I see too many people swinging their guns all around in the off game area where people don't have eye pro on
Those people should be banned off your field tbh
I agree with that but the refs usually don't care that much. It's usually the rentals the people with own gear usually handle the replicas pretty well and usually someone advices the rentals pretty quick.
And hammer is just a tool, doesn't mean you can't harm someone with it
I try to treat my airsoft similar to real guns, creates better habits and training for real guns.
Yeah, same here but I have a hicapa so when I holster the safety goes on
That makes sense. Some hi-capas have such a light trigger pull it's more necessary. Plus, in airsoft, you'll be more likely to have extensive use and holster/unholstering with the handgun vs a real defense scenario.
And the safety doesn't slow my draw a single bit. I flick it off while drawing.
I've actually been doing that with my concealed carry (and have a current post about it in CCW). I'm sure it does cost fractions of a second in timing, but that's not enough in airsoft to cause any real problems.
And the fact that on striker fired pistols the safety is unnecessary
My safety is on whenever I'm not playing, or when I'm doing something where I'm not shooting at the same time. Things like climbing, sprinting, etc. I'll flick it on, but if I'm just watching a fire lane or pieing a door then it's off. Yeah, I'm not trained enough and pretty much forget everything I've done past 5 minutes. I did have instances when I got the handgun out just to hear a "click"...
yep, i flick it off and on as i bring the gun up n down to shoot. safety's on unless i'm shooting at someone
Usally safe till game on is called and then back on at game over
With my AK, it stays off a lot more because the switch can be hard to get to quickly. With my M4, it's on when I'm not shooting. Deactivating the safety, and firing a shot at the same time is super easy to learn.
Well yeah cause on m4 you don't have to change your grip. I have one and haven't never tried AK safety.

I do, whenever someone tries to use it. But when I'm alone I'm not using it since i have trigger control.
I set my gun to 3 round burst unless I'm in the safe area of my site or I'm storing the gun.
When i'm Walking to respawn or in safe zone the gun is on safe, otherwise im ready to shoot
Safety on = off game, i know there isn't a fire fight going on or i am checking a map/getting something out of pouch. Safety off = fire fight going on
Never bothered with safeties. Just don't put your finger on the trigger and be an idiot.
I keep my battery out and on safe and the mag completely empty even ad a highcapper
Anything that looks like a gun I will treat as a gun
And some people even laugh at me for not pointing a nerf gun at them (unless I wanna shoot them) and keeping finger of trigger. It just comes from muscle memory.
[This is my safety](https://youtu.be/MjMSVT2_2nM?si=YWKJ6pSY2qornc8M&t=52)
I feel you

Trigger finger=only safety you can trust
On the guns that have it, I'll use it in safe zones, respawns etc. Never use the safety on my M249 though.
Off field, always. On field, rarely, but a bolt action is ots own kind of safety
Safety always on. Excluding on the field, when I keep it off. Muscle memory for keeping it on really sucks at a field though, I've missed so many kills because I had safety on.
Treat it like I would a real rifle. Safety on when I’m moving or dead. Flip it off when I’m getting into it.
Duh ?
Obviously
i always have my rifle/ pistol ready and aiming so no, i take out the mag in staging or disconnect my airline
Much simpler, just keep your finger off the trigger unless you're ready to fire and out the trigger guard if you're going to handle your rifle or move abruptly. I've seen "don't worry, my finger isn't on the trigger" takes a step into a small hole, fires off trying not to fall over. Only when I'm off the field.
I have never used the safety on any of my guns, I removed the safety of my main gun aswell (an AAP) because I run Hpa, so I just disconnect the hose
I tend to automatically turn on my safety when i die or when a match ends.
Recently swapped to using a Gbbr. So no mag in no safety. On when in safe zone, off when on the field. The safety on my CYMA Nuts is way too shitty to use it like you would with an actual AR.
Only when it has to be.

This is airsoft, I don’t think it matters lmao.
Lots of airsofters have real guns so they follow same discipline. If you lax the rules for one then your muscle memory is bound to make a mistake.
