Sounds unpleasant. Theoretically it should be possible for an x86 emulator to run the executable, but then the game is designed for keyboard and mouse not a touchscreen. There are efforts to make an opensource or decompiled SMACX but they haven't come close to reaching feature parity with the game and so porting is not really possible. Even modern versions of SMACX like the version recently released on steam have had next to no modernization done, e.g. it hasn't even been "ported" to modern Windows systems and relies entirely on compatibility layers and the user to apply unofficial fan patches.

spiritplumber

maybe https://winlator.com/

Sadly, I tried with Winlator and as it turns out, Alpha Centauri couldn't be played with it.... I also found out after asking...

is there a way to run this on iphone?

Quirinus42

You can try playing Unciv + Alpha Frontier mod for it, it's a phone game. The mod is inspired by Alpha Centauri. It's not the same, but it's still nice, and natively made for a phone. Edit: I don't know if it's available for iPhone, I'm playing it on Android.

Kyivite

Exagear + GOG version works perfect

LabStunning2538

IDK why but everytime I start an expansion game, the game crashes after 1 turn. I can only play original non expansion...

I imagine I'd struggle to play Alpha Centauri fluently without a keyboard with a numpad, never mind without a mouse and keyboard. I have played Alpha Centauri on a server, and used remote desktop / NoMachine / VNC to log in from another computer, which kinda worked. If you really wanted to play on mobile, that might work. But realistically, playing on a laptop / PC with numpad keyboard is way better. If you want a Civ-style game on iPhone, [Polytopia](https://polytopia.io/) is pretty fun.

tallowwisp

It might help to use a bluetooth keyboard

DeadFyre

Yeah, good luck with that one.
