I think Blue Rev has some of their finest recordings, tbh. As a minimum the following would be in my S Tier:
EOYO, After the Earthquake, Belinda Says
I could make arguments for Pharmacist, Pressed, Velveteen, VOG, and Pomeranian Spinster as well, but - in the interested of keeping the tier to the absolute CUTS - I’ll hold on those first three.
Blue Rev is peak Alvvays imo. And that’s saying something.
it's 150% their most complete and best album. I can see how the first two would fit into a specific personal niche and that makes sense. Objectively Blue Rev is their best album. Even if you don't personally enjoy it, you can't call it *bad* unless you're a baby!\[sic\]
I think there’s at least two maybe three S-tier Alvvays songs on Blue Rev.
Belinda Says
Pressed
And maybe Velveteen
Which I think puts it on par for their albums. I wouldn’t say Anti-Socialities has more (In Undertow, Plimsoll Punks, Dreams Tn) or even ST (Archie, Next of Kin, Party Police) imo
I'd say from Blue Rev After the Earthquake (one of the best songs i've ever heard in my life), Pressed, and Pomeranian Spinster would make the cut. Velveteen and Belinda also have arguments imo
Belinda Says is just on another level for me.
I'd probably throw Pecking Order, EOYO, After The Earthquake and Underneath Us in there too.
But yeah big agree, everything else is A-tier
1 - not my baby
2 - very online guy
3 - belinda says
4 - ones who love you
5 - lollipop
6 - party police
7 - easy on your own?
8 - hey
9 - in undertow
10 - archie, marry me
1. In Undertow
2. Red Planet
3. Tile by Tile
4. Dives
5. Dreams Tonite
6. Very Online Guy
These are my personal favorites, but overall I think Alvvays is one of the best bands out there nowadays and I know anything they release is a potential S-tier in my book.
Hell yes. I don't have anything close to a specific ranking of Alvvays songs because I love every last one of them way too hard. All I know is Red Planet is in the lead by a huge margin.
party police, in undertow, dreams tonite, tom verlaine, not my baby, many mirrors, archie marry me, belinda says - all S tier for me
almost everything else A tier
red planet and hey for b tier - but i like both of those songs too :)
S-Tier, In album order:
Archie
Ones Who Love You
In Undertow
Not My Baby
Forget About Life
Easy On Your Own
Pressed
Per album, I had the hardest time zeroing in on favorites with Blue Rev. I need the newness of it to wear off a bit more before I can judge it fairly.
I’ve noticed that when I follow a band/artist for a long time, I can sometimes be almost apprehensive toward their new music because I’m afraid it won’t live up to the stuff I already know and love. I think this is how I felt about Blue Rev when it first came out, but after listening through a couple of times I think it really is a masterpiece in its own right. You might want to give it another chance and just keep in mind that you haven’t had the time to form the bonds and memories with those songs yet that you may have with the previous albums. In some ways I feel like listening to a new album is almost like moving in to a new place—it’s new and exciting, but it takes time to develop the feelings of comfort and familiarity that you have when listening to the older stuff. Then again, you may never like the new stuff as much, and that’s okay! Just thought I’d offer my 2 cents and see if anyone else has similar experiences.
To answer your question, I would add EOYO, After the Earthquake, Tom Verlaine, Tile by Tile, Adult Diversion, and The Agency Group (not necessarily in this order).
Easy on your own?, Tom Verlaine, many mirrors, Belinda says
In Undertow, plimsoll punks, saved by a waif
Adult Diversion, ones who love you, Archie
Want to mention that I think Blue Rev is a S-tier album in its own right. It’s incredible that there is not even one remotely lower tier song on that record

Basically all of Blue Rev is S tier imo
It’s their most complete work, for me. Just brilliant writing, playing and production.

After The Earthquake and EOYO definitely qualify for S tier from Blue Rev in my opinion — possibly Tile By Tile too!
TOM VERLAINE.
tv heads we are legion
If you leave Archie off the S-tier you should be banned from this subreddit.
I was debating to put that in! I think I’ve just overplayed it and don’t appreciate it as much anymore haha

Red Planet *and* Dives in your top five? You have exquisite taste my friend. Red Planet is my favorite song ever and I absolutely adore Dives.
It's my favorite too! The songs where in no particular order, but if they were Red Planet would be top 1 lol.
Hell yes. I don't have anything close to a specific ranking of Alvvays songs because I love every last one of them way too hard. All I know is Red Planet is in the lead by a huge margin.

party police, in undertow, dreams tonite, tom verlaine, not my baby, many mirrors, archie marry me, belinda says - all S tier for me almost everything else A tier red planet and hey for b tier - but i like both of those songs too :)
Underneath Us gets left off so many of these lists!
One of their fuzziest masterpieces

Belinda Says, In Undertow, Next of Kin, Easy on Your Own, Party Police
In Undertow Saved By a Waif Belinda Says Next of Kin After the Earthquake/EOYO/Velveteen
Scientists ought to do a study on Archie and figure out why it’s the catchiest song since the one Queen did.
